Grandgirls! Lilburn Park! Azalea ESL! Bill! 8.20.21

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:14 pm

I have my team from N. Gwinnett Church coming Saturday morning. I decided to change the schedule around because of all the rain we’ve been having in the afternoons.

Español.

This reminded me of the situation with my sister-in-law’s garage door

Cooler today.

Great to see my girls!

Everly and I went to Lilburn City Park to ride the bike trail. Well, I walked and she rode.

Weird looking mushroom.

Palabras.

OYB!

Deposited checks.

Went to Northlake Mall with Everly to eat and to pick up some 50 cent pieces.

Out of the whole mall, there were only about ten active stores. I remember when that place was booming twenty years ago!

The chairman of our board, Bill Cordrey, came to help me with the ESL class at Azalea today. It was great to have help!

I got my new hat in. It’s too big and the brim is too wide. Disappointing. I’ll be returning it to see if I can get it right. I’ve about given up on trying to get a hat on line. I really need to see it and try it on to really be satisfied.

Penelope had a great day at school! I brought her a hamburger back from American Deli. She really enjoyed it.

Helped the kids with their homework and worked with the ladies with English.

Checked the mail at my office and watered my ficus.

Harry!

Everly! Lilburn Park! Storms! 8.19.21

Tim A. Cummins @ 6:51 pm

Seems about right.

I don’t understand people’s reticence to get vaccinated. Stupid.

I guess this is why.

Preach.

Love these shots of Penelope at school.

Don’t see me doing this.

Español.

My girls!

I took Everly to the Lilburn Bike Trail today.

I love her so much.

I’m pretty sure this is mycelium from mushrooms.

Wow.

We had a nice walk.

OYB!

Palabras!

Second day in a row that Everly went to sleep around 11:00 AM. I reckon that getting up early to get Penelope to school takes its toll. Glad she has the chance to get the rest she needs.

We got rice and beans with eggs for supper.

Absolutely poured down rain.

Alaska plate.

Cada dia un poco mas.

Grandgirls! Azalea! 8.18.21

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:38 pm

I have really found this to be true! The latest changes I’ve made to the house (like the faucet in the kitchen) which cost hundreds of dollars have only lasted a few years before they start having problems.

I love this picture of Penelope in class.

This is what the vaccines are going through now.

This has gotten wildly out of hand. Spending their (our!) money on their little space travels is crazy.

This was a very interesting and sad article. There was never a good time to leave this place.

Everly and I were going through old pictures. I thought there were some similarities through the generations.

Español!

Everly enjoys riding her bike in the mornings.

One of my banana plants got hit with a falling limb. I taped the leaves back in the proper positions. Hopefully, they’ll grow back ok.

Yo pensé que esta palabra es interesante.

Although I took a lot of her stuff to Goodwill this weekend, I kept her favorites and she really enjoyed playing with them today.

OYB!

Little sweetheart fell asleep early.

This fills me with great joy.

Cleaned and refilled my hummingbird feeders.

I had to take a shower after that outside work. Super sweaty.

Everly and I picked up Penelope and we had pizza together.

Penelope introduced me to ranch dressing with the pizza. Tasty! We are the two messiest eaters I know. Not a particularly great claim to fame.

They rode bikes outside before I started the tutoring and ESL classes.

Mas!

The days are long but satisfying.

It was great to see Miles helping Penelope with her homework. She really needs one-on-one attention, as do most of the kids.

Podcast! Calls! Storms! 8.17.21

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:33 pm

My phone is my external memory source.

What treasures!

It’s still hard for me to process this.

This particular pattern is challenging for me. I’m getting it with practice.

I love seeing shots of Penelope in action. Her teacher sent this to Ash and Miles.

In one of my calls today, I talked with a dear friend who is an anti-vaxer. It filled me with great sadness. The knowledge that she is SO sure that her “research” is correct that talking with her about it is just a massive waste of time.

Rained pretty much all day. Miles had off because his crew can’t cut trees in this weather. So he watched the girls.

Massive system coming up from the gulf.

Over 2.5″ of rain today.

Wired had my computer in an article.

OYB!

Went over to help my sister-in-law today with her phone and her garage door that wasn’t working. The phone turned out OK but the garage door will take a pro to figure out.

Working on vowel sounds.

Had a great talk with my buddy Caruso in Italy.

My new hat is getting closer!

Glad to talk with my buddy, Anthony! He’s been super busy. Having today off helped us reconnect.

Gas prices jumped back up. I reckon because of the storms. Or oil companies’ greed.

I recorded a new episode of Verbal Surgery today called “Ripple Effect.” Uploaded it to my Mac this evening.

Podcast! Plants! 8.16.21

Tim A. Cummins @ 5:02 pm

I’ve had a bit of a cold. I call it “sickish.” Not super groovy.

Español!

OYB!

Recorded a new podcast called “Jimmy Jackpot.” I liked it!

Ordered groceries.

Watered my plants.

Been watching a UFO show by JJ Abrams on Showtime.

Resting. Trying to heal up. Week starts over with the grandgirls and Azalea.

Filled out a form for an invitation to a missions conference at FBC Prattville, AL. They’ve been big supporters of ours over the years, although I’m not sure what the Covid situation will be then.

Uploaded the recording of my podcast to my Mac.

Spanish! Podcast! Hat! 8.15.21

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:48 pm

Studied Spanish this morning. Kept finding grammatical issues to clarify.

Tru dat.

OYB!

My study spot.

My banana plants are thriving.

Cooler today.

Recorded a new episode of Verbal Surgery called “Stand Back.”

Had a great talk with my Mom.

Mas Harry!

I got a new hat about two weeks ago and never was really satisfied with it because the brim was too big. I decided that I’d go on line and get one from J Crew which is where I got my last three. I should have done that in the beginning.

Studying music intervals. Still hard, but I seem to be making progress. I expect things to be easy for me. Not always the case!

Rained late this afternoon.

I released a new episode of Verbal Surgery called, “More Storage.”

Enjoying watching a documentary of UFOs on Showtime. I always find that an interesting subject.

Podcast! Goodwill Toys! 8.14.21

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:18 pm

That is our reality now. Dumb ass to the max.

I love Dali’s work.

Palabras nuevas!

Studied hard this week.

OYB!

Muchos dias.

I got in touch with the president of our board today.

I ordered some new razor scrapers this week. It’s the best thing to use to clean off the surface of the stove.

I recorded a new episode of Verbal Surgery called, “Whatever It Takes.” So good.

Thai for lunch.

Harry!

HOT! I took three showers today.

Even with all the heat our electric bill was about $70 cheaper than last year because I invested in a window unit for Kathy’s room rather than using the central AC.

One of my goals for this weekend was to take a lot of the toys that the girls don’t really play with back to Goodwill for some other kids to use. I made a couple of trips!

Also getting rid of some big boxes they played with.

These are Everly’s favorites. We’re keeping them. I also have a couple of kitchen sets downstairs that I’ll bring up some weeks.

Blew the deck.

Cleaned and filled up my water bottles.

Downloaded the new episode from my Sony PCM-M10 to my MacBook Air.

Enjoyed playing some Horizon Zero Dawn this afternoon.

Grandgirls! Azalea ESL! 8.13.21

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:56 pm

I thought this part of Seth Godin’s blog was especially interesting.

Not surprising.

It sure has been red hot here. Yow! The humidity is like a terrarium.

I’m always surprised how little forethought people give to their driving. These cars are in the middle of the intersection when the light turns red. That blocks at least two lanes of traffic coming from the right lanes.

The guy in front of me had this sticker, twice!

Love my girls! Everly has really enjoyed her bike.

Steamy.

I thought this spider web was cool in the sunlight.

Español!

I basically teach my English class in Spanish. All my studying is paying off.

OYB!

I tried out the new water hose I got yesterday. It immediately blew up. Sounded like a gun going off. Man, was I pissed off. I went back to Lowes today and got another brand.

I got two 50 foot hoses rather than the 100 foot. That way if something bursts I can just replace one side.

Everly helped me trim some bushes.

I’m training the wisteria to hug the tree.

Everly likes this little bench to sit on while we wait for Penelope to come.

Just kept getting hotter.

Kathy came to see the girls today.

I spent time cleaning the white boards with WD40 while I waited for people to show up. I’m always doing something.

I started with two ladies. We had six this afternoon. I’m sure others will show up.

I never used to do homework tutoring on Fridays because most kids don’t have any work over the weekend.

Siempre mas!

My new hose is working well. I blew the garage and driveway and used the hose to get all the pieces of play dough cleaned off.

Vacuumed the house.

I usually clean the machine after I’m done. That always keeps it sucking properly.

I fixed Kathy’s purse strap.

Cleaned the glass doors. It was pretty dark by this time. After 9:00 PM.

Looking forward to having a few rest days. My voice was getting pretty rough.

Grandgirls! Hose! Azalea Students! 8.12.21

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:12 pm

I woke up with news that two counties near Atlanta have already closed their schools. It made me sad to think that Penelope might have to start the whole virtual learning thing. She really has enjoyed school.

Mas Español.

Never too much Ashley!

I was glad that Everly was willing to wear the helmet I got her.

Palabras.

Swept around the house.

OYB!

Everly had a doll’s head fall off. She made a play dough one.

My fasciata is blooming. Gorgeous.

I bought a hose that has a life time guarantee. The last two lasted about a year each. The new one that replaced the old one was substantially poorer quality. Sure enough, it popped in under three months. Grrr. Everly and I took it to Lowes to get another. I doubt it will last any longer. When I was there, I saw another shopping cart with a hose exactly like mine that had been returned the same day. The lady who helped me said that happens ALL the time.

The girls have fun with the big gloves.

I had a big group of kids today. I moved my class to the entry way of the apartments. I told a couple of the ladies that I would help them learn English. I ended up with three adult students and a couple more that said they wanted to come tomorrow. I’m teaching them simple introductory stuff.

I really enjoy teaching, but having about seven different subjects going at the same time is a challenge.

I’m really getting a great chance to use my Spanish. That’s probably the main reason I’m teaching English. Listening to Spanish all the time has really helped my comprehension.

The clouds this evening were magnificent.

Grandgirls! Ann! Intervals! Azalea! Podcast! 8.11.21

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:04 pm

If you’re going to lie, expect repercussions.

Had a great talk with my dear friend Barbara Hays.

Español!

BAPS temple was beautiful this morning.

Today was our One Year anniversary for Ashley’s job and me picking up the girls for Pop Pop school. What a blessing they’ve been!

I let Everly ride her bike around the back lot of Global Mall.
https://photos.smugmug.com/Family/Grandgirls-Ann-Intervals-Azalea-81121/i-pbg3zsH/0/5042896d/M/IMG_2398-M.jpg

Didn’t seem nearly as hot today.

Siempre mas.

Everly and I explored how someone had knocked over a light pole in the Ingels parking lot. They really had to hit that!

I deposited checks this morning and on my way home after working at the mission.

I picked up two big bunches of bananas for super cheap. I cleaned and broke them up and put them in the freezer to make smoothies. Super good and great for us.

Everly loves them along with the frozen watermelon, blueberries and of course bananas. Mixed in Ka’Chava to make it healthy.

I have LOVED my Nutribullet. It works great.

I helped my sister-in-law Ann get her Covid shot. Still not sure why she thought today was Thursday.

OYB!

Eighteen years ago today, Ashley and Miles started high school.

Everly said this was her school bus.

Everly and I went out for Mexican food. We brought back a box for Penelope to eat. On the way to school, we drove through very powerful storms.

She is really enjoying school.

Here’s a picture of her Mom.

Here’s me.

Everly went to sleep on the way to pick Penelope up. She laid back down as soon as we got home.

I continue to study music. I’m working on intervals. Know what a Perfect 5th sounds like? How about a minor 2nd? Turns out to be the opening bars to Jaws.

I had a big bunch of kids to help. Glad to have Ashley there! She got home early.

Picked up groceries on the way home.

Gassed up my car. I get a discount at Walmart after Kathy and I have filled up a couple of times.

Checked fluids.

Big storms left right at 1.0″ of rain.

Released Verbal Surgery “Small Pot.”
