The last two weeks I've been in Texas raising support for my ministry. While I was there I stayed with my Dad's parents, Al and Peggy Cummins or "Babu and Nana." My Granddaddy is the pastor of the church in Sun City, near Austin. I shared with a group of ladies in the church. It was fun! The women were very encouraging. I really enjoy telling people about missions!
I also helped lead a Girls In Action camp. This program teaches kids about missionaries and how they can tell others about Jesus.
One day while we were driving, Nana and I began talking about what it's like for missionary kids who grow up in a foreign country. MKs are naive about America culture yet worldly because they see such extrame poverty. As a child, my family traveled all of the world as missionaries. In four years we lived in Madagascar, Zimbabwe, Kenya, S. Africa and France! Since that time I've always wanted to go back. The more my Grandmamma and I talked the more I realized much I wanted to travel overseas. I'd like to work there, perhaps teach...something to help.
I feel like God is calling me back to the places I used to call home. As a senior in high school, there are many decisions I have to make about my future. What classes to take? Where to go to school? What to do when I'm out of school? Please pray that I'll have the courage and understanding to do God's work in far away lands and here too!
Love,
Ashley
