TK Time!

Tim A. Cummins @ 7:29 pm

I’ve been enjoying beautiful Tybee Island over the last few days.
t
It’s been great to get some rest and enjoy one of my favorite cities in America: Savannah! Birthplace of my children! First capital of Georgia!
t

s
It was fun to think about George Washington or Ben Franklin walking around the squares in the Historic District.
c
Enjoyed the Greek Festival while I was there.
g
k
And the Art Festival on Tybee.
a

te

And just the awesome beach!
b

We did a 12 mile bike ride along the Savannah River. Beauty!
b

g

Love the moss!
m

It’s actually in the same family with pineapples!
mm

b
It was in the 70s, perfect weather and the place was nearly deserted.
t
I also shot pictures at Laurel Grove cemetary. It has MANY graves from the dead Confederate soldiers from Gettysburg.

g
Seeing that I just recently saw the hand written edition of the Gettysburg Address just recently, and the letter from Sherman to Lincoln preserving Savannah, it was really special.
g

Great time! Good to rest.
s

On our way home, I got a call from the manager of Huntington Creek. She said that the North’s apartment had been busted into. That’s a sad piece of business. Ian lost a lot of DVDs and also his Mac laptop.

Pray for them!

Jesse also sounds a little congested. I’m glad we’re here to take care of him.

I’m looking forward to going to Texas on Thursday. I always enjoy hanging out with my parents. I’m going up to Baylor for Homecoming on Friday and watch the football game on Saturday.

I’m giving a short report at the Worship Place on Sunday. Looking forward to seeing them. Big supporters!

Great to be back home.

I liked doing swishy patterns with the lights on the palm trees.
s

Can you see the foot print above the sand, too?
s

I loved the iron work at the cemeteries.

And the marble sculpture.

This reminded me of living in Savannah. Always lots of these tree trucks. Saw this one on our way home.

Meds! Mex! AZ!

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:11 pm

This morning I went to my doctor’s office to pick up some medicine for Jesse.
b

He’s feeling a lot better!

Had Mexican food with two of my favorite missionaries, Ian and Ruthie North!
k

Awesome food and company. Great to have J and K there too!
j
After lunch, I worked with Ian on his upcoming half marathon and then 40 mile run. I’m a coach for him on the mental side of this challenge. He just did 30 plus miles in TN!

Here’s a shot of Ian’s flip flops. Ever seen ones this thin?
f
He’s a barefoot, wonderboy for sure!

We went over to Huntington Creek to talk to the manager over there. I want to make sure when the repairs they’re doing on the apartment will be ready. They swear it’ll be done by this weekend. Hope so!

We also went to our office to make sure that all the boxes were out of the way of the staff.
b
We’re still getting school supplies. PTL! Generosity overflowing!
s
Then to Azalea to help the kids at the mission.

I had some of the mothers of the kids come and clean up the mission. WOW, what a difference!
m
They appreciate me helping the kids with homework like this.
h

We were happy about the change!
t

I stopped for huevos rancheros on the way home.

Back to admin duties now!

Podcasts! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:39 pm

This morning I worked on admin duties and producing two new podcasts! Verbalsurgery.com is one of my fun “off duty” projects!

It’s been really popular with over 1,000 downloads so far this month. Not sure if you’re into positivity podcasts, but if you are, you’ll certainly dig mine!

Jesse and I went over to Azalea to help the kids with their homework.
h

LOTS of kids. Super loud. Man, we need more help!

TV Preachers! Walkabout!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:36 pm

This morning I decided to do TV church. One pastor spoke on judging. The next on not stealing. I felt like they did a good job, but just didn’t feel like church. TV church doesn’t work. But if you need to rest, it’ll do.
t
Worked on my proverbs. Also known as tweets. Over 76,000 followers!
p

Met up with Kathy at the graveyard in Clarkston.
g

I found this sad.
d

Had a nice walk back towards Stone Mountain. She was hungry, I’d just eaten with J.
tr

Saw Ian North as he was leaving Stone Mountain. He’d just run 10 miles.
i
He’s in great shape! He drove me the rest of the way home. Perfect timing! I wasn’t crazy about walking along the highway. But I usually find cool stuff! Like money! Today I found this huge nut.
n

The Lord told me that a married couple is like a nut and a bolt. Pretty useless without its mate.

That’ll preach!

I keep telling Kathy to keep her bike speed under 45!
k

Now how in the world is a blind guy going to know that there’s a bus stop here?
b

I couldn’t get the letters to work out in Braille. Why isn’t the “S” the same in both words?

Watched “The Boys are Back” with Kathy this evening. Kind of a sad movie. Definitely for chicks.

Expecting a flood in the bathroom?
t

I like this wheel.
w

I saw this picture on an internet advertisement. Not sure if it’s good marketing to be associated with this image!
b

Believe it or not it got to nearly 90 degrees today. This sign seemed pretty stupid.
b
I saw frost on the ground in the mountains of Colorado! The ranch was around 7,300 ft. Similar to Nairobi, where I grew up. I wondered about what it is here in Stone Mountain. Now I know.
s
And so do you!

I drive under this bridge nearly every day on my way home. This is Highway 78.
78

My advice to you.

Colorado “Forward Base Camp!”

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:42 am

GREAT to be back home!
t
c
For the last three days I’ve been in the mountains of Colorado with the missionaries from that state.
m
m

It’s been an awesome time with them! I don’t really like the word “retreat” for a meeting like that. So I told them it was a Forward Base Camp! Plenty of Tim time!
s
t
Pretty remote ranch. No internet. No cell coverage. No cable TV. YOW!
j

But a whole lotta GOD!
c
Walt Disney had been there! I’m his friend on the left. You can tell because of the cool hat.
w

And food!
f

I liked the dining hall.
d

I was in Leadville cabin.
l

Here’s what it looked like from my front porch.
m
c

Got chilly! Actually had frost on the ground.
f

It was fun to hang out with the families and get to know them and their awesome ministries better.

I got home Saturday night around 10:30pm from the airport.

Sure am glad to be home.

Looking forward to a great week!

Glad to hear we have a new president of the North American Mission Board: Kevin Ezell. I think he’s going to do a great job!
k

While at the airport I saw this report on how America sees God.
g

I reckon sleep IS a perk!
s

I liked this plane at the Denver Airport.
p

A reminder.

My advice to you.

NAMB! Boom! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:19 pm

This morning Jesse and I rode up to Alpharetta for me to make my presentation to the new missionary candidates at the North American Mission Board.
n
Great group!
n
m
k

Many of them are chaplains. What an important job that is!
t
We at lunch and spent a few minutes at the book store. My treat to myself!

We had an hour to spare so we went to my office at First Baptist Doraville to rest. Fortunately, I have a couple of air mattresses so Jesse and I could lay down. We were both tired.

I was resting my eyes and then suddenly I heard BOOM!!

It nearly blew me off the air mattress! I thought it must be a transformer that blew up, but I also thought maybe it was a gas problem down stairs with those big stoves.

I got up and didn’t see or smell anything unusual. I went across the hall to my neighbor Deborah Hayes and asked her what that boom was.

Want to try and guess?

I’ll wait.

Still waiting.

OK. I’m sure you didn’t get this one!

She told me that every so often the Doraville police have to get rid of all the ammunition that they confiscate in the area. They put it in this big pressure cooker looking thing and ignite it. BOOM!

Never guessed that!

I carried more boxes of school supplies downstairs to my storage area and then we went over to Azalea to help the kids.

m
b
n
j

k

Focused on a couple of the boys who had to make a teepee for their Social Studies project. I think it turned out good.

SUPER packed out at the mission today. I was doing at least five different assignments at once with the kids.

Spent a lot of time helping one of the 7th graders figure out her math. NOT an easy task! But she keeps trying, so I do too!

Really wears me out, especially my voice.

Been feeling pre-sick. Know that feeling? Not sick, but you know if you don’t at least try and take it easy . . . .

So I’ve been taking more vitamins, but can’t say I’ve been taking it easy. Had way too much going on.

Tomorrow I fly to Denver, Colorado to do a two day conference with the missionaries there. As my wife would say, “Tim lives to hear himself talk.” So I’m looking forward to it.

Pray for my travels and that I can rest, at least some.

The Falls! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:58 pm

We had lunch with my whole family! Kathy had just ridden in from Stone Mountain!
k

Today Jesse and I went to the Falls to check on my partner Cathy Wilson and my manager friend Carlos Martinez.
c
We have an outstanding team on site there, and I’m excited to see the work flourish!

J and I then went to my office at FBC Doraville where we lugged down the boxes to my storage room.
j

It’s to the ceiling now! I need to have a team to help me organize the stuff again and then I’ll go around and give it out.

Usually I wait for a couple of months to the folks need stuff and then give it away.

We helped the kids at the mission. Man, it was wild!
a
n

Cathy gave me a bunch of beanie babies to give away.
b

j

Also gave some basket balls to the kids.
a

I’m tired.

Still got admin work to do.

Podcasts! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:55 pm

This morning I had fun creating two new podcasts! I put the links to them in my previous post. Check them out! They’re really popular!

This afternoon Jesse and I went by the Post Office to drop off some letters and get stamps. Huge line. Glad they have an automated section! I sent the DVD that I shot of 12 Stone this weekend.
12

Went to the office to check on boxes and mail! Four more boxes of goodies for the kids!
b
Then over to Azalea to help the kids.
k

Another big crowd of kids. Super loud in the mission!
m
Look easy?

Sure was glad to have Jesse back in action!

I like it when the moms try to help.
m

Can you describe how cold and warm fronts work? That’s why I like helping with homework! REVIEW!
