{"id":296,"date":"2008-03-07T00:04:35","date_gmt":"2008-03-07T04:04:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/whirlwindmissions.org\/blog\/?p=296"},"modified":"2008-03-07T00:04:35","modified_gmt":"2008-03-07T04:04:35","slug":"296","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whirlwindmissions.org\/blog\/?p=296","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What a day!<\/p>\n<p>Ashley and I got to spend time together.\u00a0 Never too much Ashley!\u00a0 We started out our day in Alpharetta.\u00a0 We met with Dr. Bob Montes who is helping us do the psychological evaluation on Jesse.\u00a0 Just before we went in to see him I called the Detention Center to talk with the counselor.\u00a0 Apparently Jesse had tried to tear up his mattress and so was back in the Mental Health unit.\u00a0 Kathy and I just got back from visiting him there.\u00a0 He made it sound like the mattress thing wasn&#8217;t a big deal and that he didn&#8217;t actually tear it up.\u00a0 It was the first time we&#8217;d seen him since Saturday.\u00a0 It was cold there and he was kind of shivering, but he was in great spirits.\u00a0 He kept telling us how much he is learning and how he is helping people there.\u00a0 He really sees himself as a kind of messiah who can help people get to God.\u00a0 Hard to understand, but he seems happy and for me that means a lot!\u00a0 If all goes well, Dr. Montes will be able to see him next Friday.\u00a0 Pray that that will happen.\u00a0 When we had finished visiting Jesse, Kathy noticed our lawyer who was just leaving the jail.\u00a0 We had a good visit with him, told him what Jesse had been telling us and he told us he&#8217;d work on getting the doctor into the facility to do the evaluation.\u00a0 He looked really tired.\u00a0 We left the jail about 9:15pm.\u00a0 We had a prayer with him. I think he felt better after that.<\/p>\n<p>Most of my day was spent with a team from Louisville, TX&#8211;right outside of Dallas.\u00a0 We went around the Clarkston area and I also showed him the Buford Highway corridor.\u00a0 They&#8217;ll be doing sports camps with us in June in 5 locations.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll coordinate half of them in Chamblee.\u00a0 They were a good group.\u00a0 I took them over to Cafe Istanbul for Turkish food.\u00a0 We sat on the floor on cushions.\u00a0 People always get a kick out of that.\u00a0 I also got to meet Scott Kelly who is one of our new team members who will be helping Pat Maddox and the Friends of Refugees group. He&#8217;s a really nice guy who reminds me of one of my mentors: Fred Sorrells.\u00a0 I miss Fred.\u00a0 He taught me a lot.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m feeling better every day.\u00a0 I was thinking about running today!\u00a0 I decided to rest instead.\u00a0 Sometimes I get back in the saddle a little too fast and then end up having a relapse with the cold.\u00a0 Rest is hard for me.<\/p>\n<p>The best news of all?\u00a0 The insurance guys said that our house is covered!\u00a0 What a weight off of my shoulders!\u00a0 I knew that even if they didn&#8217;t I had so many churches that would take care of us I wasn&#8217;t really worried, but I&#8217;d prefer that that money was spent on reaching people for Jesus, not replacing sheetrock!<\/p>\n<p>I also heard that my two friends Tim and Cathy Palmer were appointed with NAMB yesterday.\u00a0 Great news!\u00a0 I&#8217;m excited about having them come to Atlanta.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks again for all your prayers.\u00a0 Keep praying for Jesse!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What a day!
