{"id":465,"date":"2008-09-10T19:23:59","date_gmt":"2008-09-10T23:23:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/whirlwindmissions.org\/blog\/?p=465"},"modified":"2008-09-10T21:51:25","modified_gmt":"2008-09-11T01:51:25","slug":"the-world-of-clarkston","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whirlwindmissions.org\/blog\/?p=465","title":{"rendered":"The World of Clarkston"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I always have fun in the Clarkston area.\u00a0 There are just SO many different countries represented.<\/p>\n<p>Today was &#8220;Wonderful Wednesday&#8221; at Clarkston International Bible Church.\u00a0<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/whirlwindmissions.smugmug.com\/photos\/370072163_45Cox-M.jpg\" alt=\"c\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/whirlwindmissions.smugmug.com\/photos\/370072292_sKKHi-M.jpg\" alt=\"c2\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/whirlwindmissions.smugmug.com\/photos\/370072572_Tdg7K-M.jpg\" alt=\"c3\" \/><br \/>\nOver 150 students from Dekalb Tech come for refreshments and a Bible story in the gym of the church.\u00a0 Pastor Phil Kitchin does a great job reaching out to the refugee community in the area.<\/p>\n<p>I had a meeting with a long term friend of our family: Ileko Mugalla from Kenya.\u00a0<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/whirlwindmissions.smugmug.com\/photos\/370073182_k7k7t-M.jpg\" alt=\"k\" \/><br \/>\nShe was Kathy&#8217;s best friend when she worked there back in the early 90&#8217;s.\u00a0 Ileko is a working on doing medical research in the area.\u00a0 We hope one day to have medical services available to the community. Kathy and Ashley were working with the &#8220;Mommy &amp; Me&#8221; program this morning at the church.\u00a0 There are some sweet children there!\u00a0 The mothers are learning English while Kathy and some other volunteers help take care of the little kids.<\/p>\n<p>I took three of the monitors that I picked up yesterday from Tyler&#8217;s church for Ileko&#8217;s office.\u00a0 She works right around the corner from Ashley&#8217;s mission at Kensington Station.\u00a0 I&#8217;m working on getting her some computers now.<\/p>\n<p>Also got together with Kevin Riley, another NAMB missionary.\u00a0 He has some teams coming in soon and I was helping him develop other locations where he could put them.\u00a0 I introduced him to several of the managers.<\/p>\n<p>Missed having roast goat at Madina today.\u00a0 I was hoping to eat there, but it&#8217;s closed due to Ramadan.<\/p>\n<p>Went to the mission at Azalea to help the kids with their homework.\u00a0 The carpet is still drying out from the flood we had there when the commode broke.\u00a0 What a mess.\u00a0 We threw a bunch more stuff away, so it&#8217;s not looking quite so bad now.<\/p>\n<p>Plus we have a dead rat somewhere in the wall.\u00a0 Lovely smell.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s why they call it missions!<\/p>\n<p>We have some new Bengali families in our area.\u00a0 Always fun to meet new people.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I always have fun in the Clarkston area.\u00a0 There are just SO many different countries represented.
