{"id":476,"date":"2008-09-24T22:37:08","date_gmt":"2008-09-25T02:37:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/whirlwindmissions.org\/blog\/?p=476"},"modified":"2008-09-24T22:50:00","modified_gmt":"2008-09-25T02:50:00","slug":"norcross","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whirlwindmissions.org\/blog\/?p=476","title":{"rendered":"NorCross"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was in the Norcross area today.<\/p>\n<p>I met with Debra the manager at Hampton Woods today.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/whirlwindmissions.smugmug.com\/photos\/379816384_8w7yQ-M.jpg\" alt=\"d\" \/><br \/>\nI told her about FBC Atlanta and the block party we wanted to do at her complex. She&#8217;s a prayer up woman and was all for the idea!\u00a0 I also have my partner Carlos Salaverria who is bringing five families from his church to mingle with the residents.\u00a0 This is EXACTLY the strategy I&#8217;m trying to accelerate.\u00a0 We can let the white folks come over and bring all the stuff and have games for the kids and we can have the Spanish families interacting with the residents inviting them to their church!<\/p>\n<p>Also had some time with my partner Keith Harrell.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/whirlwindmissions.smugmug.com\/photos\/379816424_EuqBL-M.jpg\" alt=\"k\" \/><br \/>\nHe&#8217;s doing a great job at Villa Nueva, in a very tough location.\u00a0 We&#8217;ve had difficulty getting volunteers to help us over there.\u00a0 We were trying to start an After School program, but kids didn&#8217;t seem to need the help.\u00a0 So now we&#8217;re trying a music option.\u00a0 I&#8217;m going to buy a couple of guitars tomorrow and Keith can start teaching residents how to play!\u00a0 We&#8217;ll also probably set up a soccer tournament for the residents.<\/p>\n<p>Pray for our missions.\u00a0 Our leaders are getting tired.\u00a0 It&#8217;s hard to stay the course year after year.<\/p>\n<p>Kathy rode about 15 miles on her bike today!\u00a0 She rode from our house to Kensington Statn in Avondale and got back to Stone Mountain.\u00a0 I went to pick her up because it was dark and dangerous.<\/p>\n<p>We ate at Waffle House on our way home.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/whirlwindmissions.smugmug.com\/photos\/379816452_Bvfjn-M.jpg\" alt=\"w\" \/><br \/>\nIt reminded me of how shocked people from out of state are about Waffle Houses.\u00a0 They can&#8217;t believe how MANY there are.\u00a0 The whole time my Dad was here from Texas he&#8217;d say, &#8220;There&#8217;s a Waffle House&#8221;\u00a0 A minute later. . . . . &#8220;There&#8217;s another Waffle House.&#8221;\u00a0 We do have a plethora of them.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/whirlwindmissions.smugmug.com\/photos\/379816498_YqZw6-M.jpg\" alt=\"k\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/whirlwindmissions.smugmug.com\/photos\/379816654_Sy2Ai-M.jpg\" alt=\"t\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After we ate at Waffle House, I saw this cool Yamaha motorcycle.  I liked the way the motor was lit up.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/whirlwindmissions.smugmug.com\/photos\/379816689_XXzTf-M.jpg\" alt=\"m\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m working on newsletters.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll get the kids to help me do the labels tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>Peace.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was in the Norcross area today.
