{"id":599,"date":"2009-02-19T10:28:41","date_gmt":"2009-02-19T14:28:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/whirlwindmissions.org\/blog\/?p=599"},"modified":"2009-02-19T10:35:50","modified_gmt":"2009-02-19T14:35:50","slug":"amharic-bibles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whirlwindmissions.org\/blog\/?p=599","title":{"rendered":"Amharic Bibles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Super busy day yesterday.\u00a0 I was so whipped when I got home I went to sleep at 9:30 pm!\u00a0 Yow!<\/p>\n<p>Last week I had a meeting with the international pastors at Clarkston International Bible Church.\u00a0<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/whirlwindmissions.smugmug.com\/photos\/472706886_iTZgS-M.jpg\" alt=\"p\" \/><br \/>\nMany of the congregations need Bibles.\u00a0 Thanks to the generosity of the staff at the North American Mission Board, I&#8217;ve been able to help buy some Bibles.\u00a0 This church hosts people from over 50 countries!<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/whirlwindmissions.smugmug.com\/photos\/476376186_e6DGW-M.jpg\" alt=\"b\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Yesterday I went to CIBC for their &#8220;Wonderful Wednesday&#8221; meeting with the students from Dekalb Tech who meet on the church campus. I met with the Ethiopian Pastor Moges and gave him the Amharic Bibles I had tracked down for them.\u00a0<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/whirlwindmissions.smugmug.com\/photos\/476376151_uh2Ah-M.jpg\" alt=\"m\" \/><br \/>\n The church members were SO happy to have their own Bible!\u00a0<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/whirlwindmissions.smugmug.com\/photos\/476376821_798hw-M.jpg\" alt=\"b\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/whirlwindmissions.smugmug.com\/photos\/476376721_nHnqb-M.jpg\" alt=\"b\" \/><br \/>\n I thought about many of my friends who have four or five Bibles laying on a shelf somewhere collecting dust. What a difference!<\/p>\n<p>Jesse and I took chairs over to Hope Ministry in Decatur .\u00a0 Pastor Terry Cummings is the leader of that congregation.\u00a0 He&#8217;s a former NBA professional basketball player.\u00a0 Jesse told me, &#8220;I sure felt short.&#8221;\u00a0 Me too, son!\u00a0 One of their congregation helped us in Conyers last weekend with the outreach at Audobon Brook.\u00a0 I&#8217;m glad to be able to support partners.\u00a0 They may also be able to host a Burmese congregation in their facility as well, but it&#8217;s about 2 miles from Clarkston.\u00a0 Not sure if that would work out.<\/p>\n<p>I took back a bunch of video equipment that we bought last week.\u00a0 Just couldn&#8217;t do what we needed it for.\u00a0 In particular it had no external jack for a microphone.\u00a0 To do a good job you HAVE to have a lav mic that you can plug up to the guy you&#8217;re interviewing, plus you need a headphone jack so you can monitor your audion.\u00a0 So back it went.\u00a0 Best Buy is great about no hassle returns, except I had to pay a restocking fee on the camera.\u00a0 Bahd luck.<\/p>\n<p>Went to FBC Doraville to check on my office and see if the computer that I had fixed for Ms. Margie was still working ok.\u00a0 It was.\u00a0 PTL.\u00a0 That thing was a hassle to fix.<\/p>\n<p>Jesse&#8217;s class at Willow Branch in Clarkston is starting to grow!\u00a0 I took him over to a guitar store near Azalea and lo and behold they actually had a left handed guitar!\u00a0 We got a lefty guitar and a regular guitar with bags for a great price.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/whirlwindmissions.smugmug.com\/photos\/476376969_EQZLR-M.jpg\" alt=\"j\" \/><br \/>\nThe manager was interested in Jesse&#8217;s class since he&#8217;s teaching refugees.\u00a0 I think that&#8217;s one reason they gave us such a discount.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/whirlwindmissions.smugmug.com\/photos\/476376885_wVw9m-M.jpg\" alt=\"m\" \/><br \/>\nJ and I had two computers over to my partner Virginia Cosgrove.\u00a0 She has a great ministry with the families living at Pearl Lane apartments.\u00a0 I was glad to be able to help her out.<\/p>\n<p>Checked on the kids at Azalea.\u00a0 Miguel wasn&#8217;t there to have the mission open.\u00a0 That was disappointing.\u00a0 His mom said &#8220;He probably forgot.&#8221;\u00a0 You forget on your first day?\u00a0 We&#8217;ll see how it goes.\u00a0 Jouvens was there with his girlfriend Makayla.\u00a0<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/whirlwindmissions.smugmug.com\/photos\/476377058_DDM6B-M.jpg\" alt=\"jo\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/whirlwindmissions.smugmug.com\/photos\/476377203_Yn9NR-M.jpg\" alt=\"m\" \/><br \/>\nThey were both a big help.<\/p>\n<p>I focused on working with Tabias who is like a son to me.  I&#8217;ve been like a father to him for thirteen years now.  He&#8217;s one of our success stories.  Stayed out of trouble, in school, loves Jesus!  He needed help on a presentation he&#8217;s doing on diabetes.  He was pretty scared about it.  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/whirlwindmissions.smugmug.com\/photos\/476377020_dMKH5-M.jpg\" alt=\"t\" \/><br \/>\nDid you know that the #1 fear of people is &#8220;Public Speaking?&#8221; I think he&#8217;ll do a great job on his presentation.  <\/p>\n<p>Kathy was sick yesterday.\u00a0 She&#8217;s feeling better this morning and is on her way to CIBC to work with the refugee babies.\u00a0 Last night I fell asleep in her arms watching the Championship Dog\u00a0 Show in NYC.\u00a0 Didn&#8217;t dream of dogs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Super busy day yesterday.\u00a0 I was so whipped when I got home I went to sleep at 9:30 pm!\u00a0 Yow!
