The Missions

"For behold the Lord will come in fire and his chariots like the whirlwind."

Isaiah 66:15
Ashley's Dispatch
April 2007

Today everything went wrong. From the time I was late waking up, to happenings at school, I didn't think things could get much worse. I was wrong! I've come to see that when I'm the most vulnerable that's when the evil one attacks. This time it was in the form of an eviction letter.

My partner Marc handed me the envelope. It was from La Sheryl, the manager of Spring Chase. According to the Housing Authority our program was "not what the community needed" and we had to have everything packed up by the end of the month. I couldn't believe it! La Sheryl was the one who BEGGED us to come and start work there. I ran outside shaking the letter and telling all the mothers what had happened. "NO! NO!" they wailed. "We need help for our children!"

The moms got together and tried to change the manager's mind, to no avail. The children drew up flyers that asked for help. This showed me that what we did was really important. Even the Muslim families wanted to help us! We'll have one last opportunity for the kids to hear the Gospel at the end of March. Please pray that some will come to accept Christ!

God has HIS timing! The good news is we're moving into another apartment complex, Kensington Station! With over 1,100 units it's the largest in the county. It's a small city. Most of the residents are African American and are much more open to the Gospel. Imagine how many people can come to know Jesus! I will be coordinating the After School program for our team. There are two churches and several other ministries working together to reach this community for Christ. My Dad is all about team building and Whirlwind is at the center of this effort! Please pray that the new work starts off with a bang! Our first event will be an Easter party on April 7th.

Thank you for all your prayers! I look forward to seeing what exciting new work God has planned for me now! I need your support now more than ever!

Love,
Ashley
