"For behold the Lord will come in fire and his chariots like the whirlwind."

Isaiah 66:15
Ashley's Dispatch
June 2008

5935 New Peachtree Road, Doraville, GA, 30340

"I don't have much more time to talk to you, because the ruler of this world approaches. He has no power over me but I will do what the Father requires of me, so that the world will know that I love the Father." John 30-31

Free choice. Jesus had free choice to either obey the commands of his Father or go follow his own path.

What is the path my Kensington kids will be taking? With approximately 7,000 students dropping out of school a day. Will one day my kids be quitting too?

These drop outs are the ones who fall through the cracks. They are left behind teen mothers, neglected children or kids who are just bored with their surroundings.

To bring it even closer to the complex, in Dekalb county, where Kensington is located, the drop out rate is 54%. Will Dante, Tray and Traniuqa be in those percentiles?

I'm fighting hard for that not to happen.

I'm showing Pastor Lipsey the reading corner inside the mission when we hear the kids hooping and hollering outside, "WOOHOO!"

It's the last day of school. You could have known from the excitement in their voices.

The kids rush down to deliver the news.

"I passed! I passed the CRCT!" Dianglo bounces around telling everyone his accomplishment. A chorus of "Me too! Me too!" follows.

I have no doubt that the after school program affected the scores on their tests and will continue to for the rest of their lives. Our tutoring program reinforces the skills they learn in school while also enhancing the whole child by teaching them life lessons from the Bible. The kids are getting the extra attention that they need to learn how to succeed and make the right choice. Learning from upbeat study card games and cookie math to how to read using the Bible, the kids STAY interested in learning!

With summer here I can’t wait to teach them even more about the Bible through our Beach Party VBS that’s taking place poolside and preparing for the next school year! Pray for my kids!

Love,
Ashley
