Mtn Park! New Missions!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:27 pm

Today was an amazing day!

Sometimes even I’m surprised by what the Lord can do!
mp
t

I took my excellent team from FBC Mountain Park on a tour of CD Tower to see the Buddhist idols, the Chinese Pharmacy and Carneceria #1 for quesedillas!

c
c
m

Then over to Enigmas to see the Catholic traditional medicine.

c
c

They did a wonderful job at the missions today. The kids love them!

I spent most of my afternoon going to new missions setting up locations for the teams coming next week.
cc
a

I have plenty of locations around Atlanta, but I wanted to start more on the Buford Highway corridor.

Had an amazing time talking to the managers of Buford Heights, Royale, Highland Knoll, Wyntree, Wyntrace, Town and Country and Cumberland Court! They were all open to us coming. Four of them have NEVER had a team on site. Talk about cutting edge missions!

Don’t think I’ve ever started that many new locations in one day. Someone must really be praying for me!!

Came home to rest and spend time with Kathy. The kids made it to NH safely! AMEN to that!

Even though I really miss my kids, it’s kind of fun to have Kathy all to myself! I’m greedy, I reckon!

Been working on logistic planning and sending email to my directors in preparation for the teams coming into town next week. Good stuff, baby!

I liked these pills from the Chinese pharmacy.
p

And this poster.
p

And these clouds!
c

And warm!

Editing! Adios! FBC Mountain Park!

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:43 pm

Up late last night finishing the DVD project for the last four teams in town and the Refugee Sewing Society! Sure am glad to get that stuff knocked out.
d
Put the envelopes bearing DVDs in the mail this morning.

Did some more work on the logistics for the teams coming next week. Should be over 150 in town!
l
Had a GREAT time with the group from FBC Mountain Park this morning!
t
We had a briefing and then went exploring the International Village, in particular the Buford Highway Farmers Market!
b

Always a crowd favorite!

Especially the eclairs and napoleon torte!

The group fielded two teams and work at Chamblee Heights, Pearl Lane, Azalea Place and Highland Gardens.

I’m always so pleased when a team just jumps right and and starts working full blast! Excellent!

Came home to work on admin duties.

I’m developing bus routes for the teams next week. I’ll work on calling all the managers tomorrow to verify all the locations.

Heard from my folks that they got back to Texas in good shape! Kathy did a great job getting them to the airport!

Ashley and Jesse should be almost to New Hampshire tonight! They just called me and let me know they’re outside of NYC. That’s a lotta miles!

I’m enjoying some extra private time with my sweet wife!

Sibling Road Trip! CIBC! Palmers!

Tim A. Cummins @ 4:52 pm

Kind of a bitter sweet Fathers Day for me. Super good because MY Dad is here in Atlanta and we’re with MY children too!
aj

Sad, because the kids are off on their own fantastic adventure together up to New Hampshire for a couple of weeks! I know they’ll have a terrific time.
j
a

LORD, protect them on their travels!

We all met together at our house for good byes to the kids and a prayer time with them for their travels.
f
k
a

Then Kathy and my folks and Katie went to Clarkston International Bible Church to hear Pastor Phil Kitchin speak.

c

He’s always a blessing.
p

The kids at church are getting ready to lead Vacation Bible School. They had some cool dance moves to show the kids next week!
k
We enjoyed a delicious lunch at Piccadilly with Tim, Cathy and Andrei Palmer.
p

I grew up with Cathy in Kenya. Always awesome to catch up with them. My Mom was Cathy’s Mom’s best friends for decades. I sure miss Aunt Betty!

Came home for a rest.

Now I’m back to editing video. I’m on the last of the four church videos for this week. Then I’ll work on a piece for the Refugee Sewing Society. My goal is to complete them all so I’ll be ready to start for next week’s teams.

I’m really looking forward to having a group from FBC Mountain Park come to the missions this week!

Next week will be the hardest of the summer where I’ll be coordinating five different teams with about 200 people involved including two big buses. FUN! Or something pretty close to that . . .

Books! Norths!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:54 pm

I had a fun ME day today!

Ate at Red Robin with my parents, Jesse and Katie!
d

j
m
k

f

We ate an amazing piece of pie!
p
Then over to Barnes and Noble to check out books!

I loved these brain pictures while I was there.
b
b

Took everyone home and had a nice nap. I’m glad God created naps!

Then worked on the video projects I’ve got going. I shot over three hours of video last week. So far I’ve edited the groups from Fellowship Bible Church, FBC Jonesboro, FBC Cabot and FBC Gardendale. Once edited, I have to compress then upload them to You Tube. Final part of the process involved burning a DVD for the church and mailing it off to them. Every step takes time! So I just have to be very consistent about chipping away at it!

This evening I forward a list of the latest 20 videos or so that I’ve shot of the teams recently on to Jesse. He’ll update the web page with them so it’s easy to find their video.

I’m proud of the great work my son does on the web site. I think it’s one big reason that Whirlwind Missions is a leader in apartment ministry world wide.

This evening the family went over to enjoy the AWESOME cooking of Ruthie North.
r
d
k
I sure do love Ian and Ruthie and am SO glad that they’re on our team here in Atlanta!
i
We enjoyed talking and watching their cat play with the laser pointer that Jesse had bought for them. Funny!

k

Brought the folks back to their house. Had some goodbyes with Jesse. He’s headed to New Hampshire with Ashley tomorrow for about two weeks. Boo Hoo for me too!
j

It’s been great to have my niece Katie here!
k

Came home to work on editing video and admin duties.

I helped J get his gear together for the camping trip he and Ashley are taking. They’re calling it the “Sibling Road Trip.” I know they’ll have an awesome time because they are both EXTRAordinary!
t

Looking forward to going to CIBC in the morning.

I put six pictures of myself today because tomorrow’s Father’s Day, and I’m a FATHER, baby! I just made a quick count. J has six too! Never too much Jesse!

Brethren!

Tim A. Cummins @ 1:03 am

Had a fun day today!

This morning Kathy and I went to Stone Mountain. We spent some time soaking in the hot tub and swimming in the pool. Groovy, baby!

We had lunch at Thai of Norcross. Always a good thing!
a
g

While there, I got a text from a good friend of mine wondering if I could show some pastors around the International Village. I’m always up for that!

I met up with the leadership team from Grace Brethren International at my office at First Baptist Doraville and took them on a thorough tour of our mission field!

Wayne, Steve and David were super cool!

a
They’re considering relocating their HQ to a major urban area. “Atlanta is the one!” I assured them.

Took them to CD Tower to see the Buddhist idols.

Over to the Chinese pharmacy.

Then to Carneceria #1 for some quesedillas and check out Guatemala.

The Buford Highway Farmers Market is always awesome.
b
w
Enigmas for the bizarre version of traditional folk medicine Catholicism.

Global Mall to see the Hindu temple.
h
h
h
t

Madina to visit N. Africa!
m
Then over to Clarkston to see Hallal Pizza–the center of the Muslim population in Georgia.
h

h
Finally to Azalea for the highlight of the evening: our families at the mission!

I really enjoy seeing the amazing variety of cultures that Atlanta has to offer. I pray that they’ll bring their folks to help win our city for Jesus!

Came back about 10pm. Had a fun evening talking with my folks at the mission house of FBC Mountain Park. Jesse and I got home a little after midnight.

Admin duties now!
Beautiful sunset!

Teams! Feet! Whole Lotta Tims!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:11 pm

Got 1″ of rain last night. Powerful storms in our area. Lots of branches on the ground.
1

Had a fun final day with my teams for this week!

This morning we visited the Refugee Sewing Society led by my friend Cathy Palmer. She’s doing a great job working with the ladies!
c

I had fun also showing my niece around the Clarkston area.
a
k

I bought a few things to show people about the religion of Islam. Here’s how children learn to read the Arabic letters. I thought this one was appropriate for the weekend.
d
l
This compass shows where to face to pray towards Mecca.
m

Under the category: Stuff I’ve never seen before: Camel meat!
c

Had a fun lunch with dear missionary friends of ours from Kenya, Tom and Nancy Jones.
j
Then over to the missions to check on our groups from FBC Cabot, AR and FBC Prattville, AL.

l

They’re doing a fabulous job!

I’ll miss their enthusiasm!

My Dad said that his feet were bothering him so I took him in for a foot massage on Buford Highway.
f
He said he liked it. I’m glad!
d
f

I’m also working on getting his watched repaired. I bought it for him for his retirement.
w

Came home to a surprise at the house! My wife Kathy asked me if I wanted the house decorated for Father’s day. I said, “Sure!” She asked if I wanted ribbons or balloons. I jokingly said, “No, just big pictures of me that you can walk by and blow kisses to.”

She remembered that comment! Ashley made a bunch of pictures of me and hung them around the house. LOL! What sweeties!
d
dd
t

Went over to where my folks are staying this evening and watched some of the King’s Speech before we came home to work on admin duties.

Good day!

FBC: Cabot! Prattville! Gardendale!

Tim A. Cummins @ 12:51 am

I’ve had three great teams in town this week!

This morning I took the teams from Arkansas and Alabama over to the Global Mall. It’s the largest S. Asian mall in America!
al
c
We got to witness an Hindu service and talk with the priests there.
c
p

I always find that interesting.

Then over to Al Madina to see what the markets in N. Africa look like!
t
We had a fun lunch together with my folks and niece with Ashley and Jesse!
l
f
a

J took the family home while Ashley and I shot pictures and video of the three teams. We pretty much got that job completed.

Had a short night last night. . . went to sleep after 2am and got up early. Jesse was helping me with some details on the web site. We also worked on the Team Assignments. Major teams coming in soon demand a LOT of attention to detail!

Had our team from Prattville, Alabama do a terrific block party for the kids at Highland Garden this evening. That complex will be torn down soon to make room for an expansion of Chamblee High School. Sad.

Ashley and I also checked out Engimas, one of the most bizarre stores in the International Village!
d
s
This evening Ashley and I went to meet a friend of mine: Jon Stetson. He’s a really nice guy. Glad to see him in the ATL!
jt
Trying to knock out my admin duties before going to sleep. I’ll be picking up my folks tomorrow to see work in the Clarkston area.

j

a

Also a terrific team of High School students from Cabot, Arkansas!
c

They’ve got a great attitude and I’m really looking forward to getting to know them better!

She’s a big Arkansas Razorback fan and wanted to kiss the frozen pig head! Yow!
p

We had a tour of the Buford Highway Farmers Market this morning. Always a highlight of the trip!

Then I worked with the kids from Gardendale. Since they are younger I figured they needed more help.

They dove right in and are doing an terrific job!

Came home to eat supper with my Mom and Dad and niece Katie who came in from Texas! So great to get to spend time with them!
f
I look forward to an amazing week.

Rest! Podcasts! Editing!

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:23 pm

Had a restful morning. PTL for that!

I felt like I’ve been at a revival service the last three nights. Sure was great to worship with the kids from FBC Jonesboro at the missions!

Picked up Kathy at Clarkston International Bible Church. She had more energy than me.

I was afraid I was getting sick. Both of the kids have Strep throat. Ouch. Glad Ashley is doing better. Jesse never has felt all that bad.

My doctor gave me some antibiotics. I’m feeling better after my rest. May not have to jump in and start taking them. I try not to unless absolutely necessary.

Came home and recorded two new podcasts! Always fun for me to do! Verbal Surgery is some of my best work.

I think you’ll love BOTH of these!

Does money every concern you? It does for most of us. You might find this one helpful. “Wealth is a state of mind.”

And one of the most important aspects of life: Happiness! I love this one! “The Key to Power!” Just click on the title and turn it up!

Went to Walmart to pick up some supplies for the mission. Got gas. What a blessing to see the price go down!
g
I liked the way the vines trailed around this branch. Even in death, there is beauty.
v
If you ever run out of pork rind, I’ve got your back!
p

Not sure I want to spend this money.
h

I liked these shoes!
s

We had over 100,000 photos viewed in the last month!

Eagles Have Landed!

Tim A. Cummins @ 7:34 pm

Had a wild morning!
t
GREAT group from Eagle’s Landing BC came to work with me this morning. Unfortunately, I thought I was supposed to meet them at noon and I told them to be there at 10! Oops!
e
They had a great attitude anyway.
e
We had fun exploring the International Village together!
b
We went to the Buford Highway Farmers Market–one of my favorite stores on the planet!

Can you guess what this is?
h

I love this poster! It’s so retro!
r

Also over to Carneceria #1 for quesidillas.
q
And to CD Tower to check out the Buddhist idols.

The best part, of course, was working with the kids!
d
m
c

Melissa rocked the house!

They showed us the ballet they learned!

We had fun playing with them.

I was glad that Kathy and Jesse also came to help!

Home now to work on admin duties.

Ashley is feeling better. Her arm still hurts from where they gave her a shot. Her throat is still terrible. Pray for her!
