Podcast! Run! Mt. Gilead!

Tim A. Cummins @ 12:25 am

Wednesday I enjoyed recording a new podcast! Woot!
y
It’s an eye opening, listen carefully and FEEL good episode. Check out “See.Hear.FEEL!” One of my best efforts!
p
Went for a 5.20 mile run. Felt great! I enjoyed seeing the flowers.
f
d
d
t
c

Lots of trees are budding. Atlanta is an incredibly beautiful place in the spring!
b
b
b
b

Weird to see a trunk suddenly veer to the left.
t

Noticed this mushroom.
m,
I’ve been studying to see which one are edible. The bottom of this mushroom doesn’t have gills. Scientists call these ridges.
r

ALL of the toxic shrooms have gills. But there are still a series of questions to answer to make sure these are ok to eat. I can’t seem myself eating them, but I still find it interesting.

They are making some big changes on the topography around one of the streams near where I live.
g
s
c

I talked to the construction guys, they said it’s to help prevent flooding and that it’ll look like a series of small ponds. Interesting. I was just sad to see them cutting trees down. BUT I sure was glad it wasn’t a bunch of houses. I love our green space!

I saw this sign in a yard. Who would want to be #00?
0

After running, I ate a salad at McDonalds on the way to Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Griffin, GA. That’s about an hour and a half from where I live in Stone Mountain. On the way there I got terribly nauseated. Ended up pulling over a parking lot a barfing a bunch of times. Gross. I sure felt better.

I saw this sign on the way there.
s
I enjoyed speaking at Mt. Gilead.
c
They’re some sweet folks. I look forward to them coming to work with us!
s
f
I enjoyed hanging out with the preacher! Fred’s a good guy.
f

They have a graveyard.
d
I always find it interesting to look at who’s there.
t
a

For playing chess?
c

Weird. Gravesite/parking?
c
Who would name their kid “Arce?”
a
Talk about being the butt of the joke.

And this is the main thing the wife remembers her husband for?
f

Seemed like kind of an after thought.
g

This one was touching to me.
t

Got home after 10pm feeling pooped. Saved the blog until Thursday!

I always find signs interesting.

Cars! Family! Shopping! Mission!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:27 pm

Worked on my car registration stuff this morning. Got it all squared away.
c

Enjoyed lunch with the whole family!
l
a

K and I went to Forest Vale to sign the lease for the clubhouse they’re giving us.
c
Great news! Got all the liability insurance squared away for it too.

Came home to rest briefly then went to Walmart to get some mission supplies and groceries for the family.
g

Then on to the mission to work with the kids.
j

Not too much homework.
j

I took a couple of the boys for a nature hike. Showed them a sharp shinned hawk.

I took this picture using my little binoculars as a telephoto lens.
s

Also pointed out to them the unusual layering of the status clouds.
c

Always fun to hang out with the kids.
a

Then home to work on admin duties.

K and I enjoyed watching Castle and some episodes of the Middle.

I like watching Sugar run.
s

In case you forget.
w
Shalom!

Podcast! Bank! Mission!

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:49 pm

Recorded a new podcast this morning! Woot!
d
I saw buried treasure this weekend worth over $10 Million. You have buried treasure inside of you just waiting to get out! It’s true! You are “Golden!”

c
Confirmed my speaking at Main Street Baptist Church in Georgetown, Texas on March 16th. I’ll be bringing the missions sermon.
m

Went by the bank to check on an issue I was having with a credit card. Got it all squared away. Amen.
b
I liked this oil spot in the parking lot.
o

Sent a package to some friends of my in England. Also sent a gift to my Dad.

s
s

Read this today.
i
While I was waiting in line in the Post Office. I made this.
o

They added chips to the median.
c

I enjoyed working with the kids in the mission.
n
a
My friend Pamela did especially well today.
p

Working hard.
d

Came home. Enjoyed reading a book on finances.

Admin duties now.

K just got home. She went to the elementary school to see our neighbor kids sing. Groovy.

J! Stone Mountain!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:33 pm

K and I enjoyed a restful morning.

I spent time reading. I liked these quotes.
m
s
m

Cleaned the house. The vacuum started working. But not that well.
s
s

Spent time looking at birds with my new binoculars.
b
b

My old raptor blind is just about gone.
r

Met up with Jesse for lunch. Always good.
j

The set up included a straw. Never seen that before.
s

Kathy and I rested then went to Stone Mountain to ride our bikes.
t
I didn’t really like it. Crowded.
c

I thought this sign was odd.
s

It was beautiful there.
s

Helo transport.
h

Cable car.
c

Horse head.
h
Always reminds me of Kenya: the roundabout.
r

You can tell this tree was struck by lightning by the curving mark where the bark has been blown off.
l

Enjoyed watching the Oscars with Kathy this evening.

Admin duties now.

Beautiful sunset!

Coin Show!

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:14 pm

Started out kind of cold weather this morning.
t

I had a fun time today at the National Money Show with Carl Barrington.
m
c
Lots of interesting things to see and learn about including a family in California that discovered rusty cans full of gold coins on their land while they were walking their dog!
c
d

One coin alone is worth more than a million dollars!
m
c

In fact they said there was over a billion dollars represented in the room.
d

I liked the US Department of Treasury display.
d
f
2

Ways they made the $100 note harder to forge.
f
s
d

Theodore Roosevelt is my favorite president. I like his coins.
r
t
t

I liked this colonial Georgia money.
s
s

Money was raised to fix up the lighthouse on Tybee Island: one of my favorite places!
t

Confederate money was from this area.
d

Never too many Gatlin Guns.
g
g
I watched them stamp coins.
c

This could have been one of the 30 pieces of silver given to Judas.
s

This much money was only traded between banks.
f

These were the two rarest, most expensive coins. Both were in the millions of dollars. One was only a nickle!
d
s

Enjoyed watching one of the printers make awards for veterans.
p

I liked this bison money.
b

This was from the colony of Massachusetts before it became part of the USA.
m

I didn’t spend much today. We got into the show for free. I bought a 1/2 Shekel from Israel. I liked the minora.
m
s
And a seal signet ring from the Franklin Mint in Philadelphia. I love anything Franklin. Only $5 for both.
f
f

There was a table of fossils. Way overpriced compared to the fossil show.
d

Filled up with gas on the way home.
d

Came home and watched the Middle with Kathy. She was pooped and kept falling asleep. I just sent her to bed.

Admin duties now.

Bills! Jesse! Lego!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:32 pm

Worked on paying bills today. Ouch.
b

Started cleaning the house. Then the vacuum gave up the ghost. That sucks.
v

J and I stopped and fixed a neighbor’s concrete bench. We put the top part back on. We’ve had some delinquents break into our neighbor’s house. I reckon they broke the bench, too. Just read a moment ago that they came back to the house to finish the job.
b
Ate Chinese food with Jesse. Excellent.
j

We liked this.
d

Checked out Hobby Lobby. I picked up some clay and plaster of paris to try making molds and casts of natural objects, like tree bark or foot prints.
d

Went to Barnes and Noble to look at books. I enjoyed a chai latte while I was there. I liked the sound of this tea.
t

I noticed some writing on the back of Jesse’s new jacket.

j
d

Then to the Lego movie.
l
We both liked it. I thought it was very creative and the 3D was super cool.

I brought some popcorn back from the movies for Kathy.
m

J drove today. Nice break for me.
j

Came home to watch Elementary and episodes of the Middle with K.

Admin duties now.

Beautiful sunset.

Website update! Posts! Mission!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:48 pm

This morning I updated the www.VerbalSurgery.com/podcasts page.
d
I’d recorded over thirty new episodes that weren’t on the main website page. It’s a matter of making links from the server to the website. It’s not hard, but doing anything that many times takes time.
t
Also posted some creative writing on the web.
s
One of my fun things. I enjoy writing proverbs. I think of them as “Ben Franklin on steroids.” Jesse told me recently that I’ve written over 6,000. About 85,000 followers on twitter. Amazing the scale sometimes.

I was excited to see the Bald Eagle chick!
e
Two days old.

I got new binoculars and have enjoyed looking at the wildlife out my window. I love them. They’re Nikon Monarches.
d

I have tried shooting through them with my camera. Here’s my first attempt.
c

Enjoyed lunch with the whole family. Missed Milo!
j
f
Ashley and I did a recon of our partners in the Lawrenceville area. Some really great folks at Grace, 12 Stone and Sunrise!
g
s
123

I took Ashley back to our house to get her car then we rocketed off to Azalea to help the kids with their homework.
a
a

Always fun and interesting. I really love my kids there.

Enjoyed watching the newest episode of Duck Dynasty with K this evening. Always funny.

Admin duties now.

Podcast! Jesse! Mission!

Tim A. Cummins @ 12:08 am

Enjoyed recording a new podcast this morning!
s
Have you ever noticed how simple words like “please” and “thank you” can have really powerful effects?

i
Check out “Magic Words!” Click on the title and groove!

I had lunch with Jesse. Always fun. We also got some work done on his car. Minor adjustments that can make a difference . . . like where the water hits on the windshield when you’re trying to clean it.

Worked with the kids. SUPER busy. Like standing room only busy. We got through it.
t

Not always easy. Some kids have a hard time learning the concepts.
d

Enjoyed watching Perception with Kathy this evening.

Admin duties now.

I can’t believe it’s supposed to get down in the low 20s tonight. Ay caramba.

Beautiful sunset.

Bank! Shopping! Hummingbirds! Labels! Mission!

Tim A. Cummins @ 1:22 am

Kathy and I went to the bank this morning. We were having trouble figuring out her bank statement.
b
Got everything figured out and everything’s ok!

Went by the Post Office to pick up stamps for the newsletter.
v

I always try to get something fun for the kids to stick.
x

Went by Walmart to pick up some supplies and to Kroger to pick up Kathy’s medicine.
k

Printed up the labels for the newsletter.
l
l

Cleaned out my hummingbird feeders and set them outside.
j
s

Flew my drone a little while.
d
Cleaned the fish tank.
f

Helped the kids at the mission with their homework.
k
p

They like to help with the labels.
j
l

Kathy and I enjoyed watching Castle and episodes of the Middle this evening.

Produced Jesse’s newsletter. J wrote the article and provided the addresses of some pictures. I laid out the first two pages. Ashley edited and produced an article that Kathy wrote. GREAT to see the whole team in action.

Admin duties now.

Are you smarter than a first grader?

Zome! Podcast! Run! Mission!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:39 pm

I had fun working with the Zome tools Sunday night.
d
I’m working on a fragment of DNA.
d

Each colored connection is either Adenine, Guanine, Thiamin or Cytosine. A always bonds with T and G always bonds with C. Interesting.

Recorded a new podcast!
t
Everyone has their own particular version of DNA. You are “YOUnique!” A great episode to remind you how AWESOME you are!
e
Went for a 5.03 mile run this morning. Felt great!

I’ve been studying the Amateur Naturalist book. One of the things he mentions is looking for nests. I had fun running my loop, scanning the tree lines for unusual clusters of branches. Almost always in the same kinds of trees.
n
n
s
n

Always something beautiful to see!
b
d

I think I may be a red head.
r
Came home to get cleaned up. Jesse joined me at the house. He had worked out and already showered by the time I got home. I’m trying to run ultra smoothly, which equates to slowly.

We enjoyed lunch. I’m teaching him Spanish. It’s fun to watch people learn.
j

I’m focused on learning Bangla now. Totally freaks out some of the kids. Weird for them to see white people speaking their language.

Helped the kids with their homework. Didn’t look like too much work today.
j
g
t

J and I went grocery shopping.
f

Dropped him off and headed home. Kathy was just about to go to sleep when I got home around 9:00 pm.

Admin duties now.

I thought these were beautiful.
