Ash, K and I went to CIBC this morning!
Pastor Phil preached on the “Riches of Jesus” from Ephesians. Got that right!
I like the Burning Bush stained glass.
Came home for a rest.
We got about 1/2″ of rain this afternoon. Massive clouds.
Then ran three miles and walked another couple of miles with K.
This evening we watched “The Reading Room” with James Earl Jones. Sweet story. Reminded me of the work we do at the mission.
Here’s a riddle from church. It’s on the slide show before the service.
Had a peaceful day today!
K and I did some shopping for groceries. If you were a detective, what would this cart say about me?
Just watched the Hunting Party with Richard Gere. Story about journalists hunting down war criminals in Bosnia. It was a really good movie. Made me think about all the Bosnians that I know! Zdravo!
Finished editing the video on Gold Rush. Burned the dvd and posted it online.
This afternoon Kathy took me to see Inception, the new movie with Leonardo. I thought it was really interesting and liked it.
Kathy actually fell asleep! She’d just biked about 7 miles and I reckon she was just pooped.
Came home and worked on the yard. I’ve had “bushes” on my to do list for about two weeks. Finally felt well enough to do something about it. So I gave the shrubs a hair cut.
Also gave me one! 3 on top and 2 on the side. I reckon I’ve been cutting my hair for about a year now.
Got into cleaning mode and cleaned the fish tanks.
Also cleaned down stairs.
Did some yard work and got stung by a couple of yellow jackets. Once on the hand, once on my right calf. Hand feels fine, but my calf got a good shot of venom. Wish I knew what good those yellow jackets do.
This evening I’ve been working on my financial report. Got that knocked out.
Also started editing the video I shot of Gold Rush. I’ll finish that tomorrow.
K and I watched the Soloist this evening. Kind of a sad movie.
K and I met up with Ashley and Miles for Indian food at Vikhyat today! I always enjoy speaking Swahili with Mr. Patel!
Then we covered 5 missions where the teams from Perimeter church were serving. Kathy helped me take pictures while I shot video. I’ll work on editing that tomorrow. Also need to do my financial report then.
We traveled to missions is Norcross and Duluth! Great teams!
We also spent a little time with Matt and Ashley Johns, they’re the directors for the Corners and Valencia missions.
This evening K and I enjoyed watching Burn Notice. Get ’em, Michael!
I liked this statue at Vikhyat. Beautiful artwork. Weird god.
Kathy isn’t feeling well today. Feeling shaky and headache. Ash and I took her to lunch and then I put her back to bed to rest.
Ashley went with me to Perimeter Mall. We checked out screen protectors for my new iPhone 4. Apple officially says “The screen protectors are not necessary and we do not sell them at our stores.”
I told the guy at Apple I wanted a screen protector. He said, “We don’t sell them.” He then proceeded to pull out a set of keys and started scratching the screen with them! Screen looked ok, but he’s never worked at a mission!
So Ashley helped me do some research and I ordered one on line from Power Supply. They’re supposed to be really good–although they haven’t come out yet! Have to wait till July 26. The down side of being an early adopter I reckon.
Then we went to check out the teams at the missions. I focused on Azalea, because I always like to check on “my” kids first. I’ll go to the other 5 missions tomorrow.
We went by my office at FBC Doraville to check on the mail. Sad day for me because it’s the last day for Ms. Margie Brooks as the church secretary. She’s been a wonderful partner in ministry for the 8 years I’ve been her across the hall neighbor at my office.
She’s been there for 32 years! Even when my Father in Law Bill Doverspike was pastor. She’s been a blessing to me and will be missed.
Came on home to start on my home work and to check on Kathy. She’s feeling a bit better. Amen!
Did I mention it was hot?
I liked these colors.
After more than three weeks straight of work, I got to take a long weekend for my birthday with Kathy! Yeah! My three girls wished me a happy weekend!
We had a great time biking around the city,
watching the world cup and the Tour de France.
and beautiful clouds!
We even saw a livestock auction!
And some fun movies!
And when I got home, my iPhone4 was here! What a great time!
And just a reminder . . .
And did they REALLY need to bring this up?
This morning I got a care package together for Jesse. The girls helped get some cool stuff for him up there in New Hampshire. I took it over to the Post Office before I went to work in Chamblee.
I like the flat rate postage boxes!
I met up with the kids at Azalea after I checked on the office at FBC Doraville. I told them I was going to take a small group and that they had to have a note from their parents.
This afternoon six of them had a note, so I took them over to a apartment manager friend’s pool. We had a good time. Several of the kids didn’t know how to swim. I was glad Kathy was there to help! She’s a life guard and an awesome swimmer. She was teaching some of the kids the basics. It was fun!
You may think, “That’s perhaps the worst picture Tim has ever taken of mission kids.” Too true! Afraid of water plus electronics!!
Afterwards, I took them to QT and each got a frozen drink. A perfect way to beat a really HOT day!
Came home and worked on admin duties.
K and I watched the movie Valentines Day. Pretty sappy.
We’re looking forward to going up to Chattanooga for a few days! I sure need the break. I’m finally feeling pretty much ok. PTL!
This morning K and I drove to Lawrenceville.
We had a lunch meeting with one of my best buddies, Todd Harrison. He and his group Pure Fun have been huge supporters of our ministry.
Thank God for Todd!
It was also fun to see Andrei Palmer and his dad Tim at Pure Fun. They’re some of my favorite missionaries! Andrei is very creative! He made this model of a PF truck!
We had a fun lunch together at the Uptown Cafe in downtown Lawrenceville.
It was fun to catch up on missions activities going on around our area. I was especially interested in their new work in Ethiopia with orphanages! That’s a really critical need.
After lunch, K and I went around Lawrenceville checking on which of our missions fed into the Berkmar High School cluster. I talked with Randy Rainwater who is my main partner from Grace Fellowship about the decision of where to put the team in the Fall. We’ll get together again to make a final placement. We’re leaning towards Olde Salem which is where we started ESL classes a couple of months ago.
We came on home after the Lawrenceville trip to watch the World Cup game which we’d recorded.
I’m working on admin duties now. Always something.
Best news is that I’m feeling better. Amen for that!
Although I’m still feeling weak, I reckon I gotta jump on in there and get with the program!
This morning I worked on a new podcast. They’re short, and I enjoy producing them. Today I spoke about
It’s important not only what we say to others, but also what we say to ourselves.
I went to the book store for a few minutes. That’s always my treat to myself. I saw this big book of MC Escher’s prints. He’s one of my favorites. Here’s a couple that I like the best.
I saw lots of beautiful flowers today. Art by God!
I saw these vinca while I was in the rain forest of Costa Rica!
The colors just pop!
And while I was at the mall, I noticed these soaps at Lush. Cool.
Then over to Azalea to check on the kids. K and I will be taking some of them swimming in the next few days. I’m trying to give them something to look forward to since the teams are finished for the summer except for one more in August.
They’re doing great! I
talked with Jesse today. Got him on the phone so he could talk to the kids over the speakerphone. They enjoyed that. I reckon J did too.
Checked on the mail at the office at FBC Doraville. More checks than bills today! Amen!
Came home to finish editing and working on my admin duties.
