The WHOLE family!

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:48 pm

Don’t get no better!
j
Had BOTH my girls plus my wing man Jesse with me today!
f
I took them out to eat Somali food at Madina for lunch. I be lovin’ that roast goat! I saw this ad while we were there.
s

Came home and worked on editing video and also on my yearbook project from 1970.

p

Dang! Was that really 40 years ago?

We went to First Baptist Atlanta to look for clothes for Kathy and Jesse. Even Ashley got some stuff! Groovy!
kk

We thought these earrings were a bit much.
a

The church has a wonderful clothes closet for their missionaries. What a blessing! Thanks so much to Linda Taylor for all her great work.
lc

Then to Azalea to help the kids with their homework.

ja

I enjoyed having some races with them. Sure do love them youngsters!

Rahul is one of my favorites. He’s moving back to Bangladesh soon. Bummer.
r

Kathy and I watched the end of State of Play with Russell Crowe tonight. Not bad. I like journalism movies. Reminds me of my news days.

Can’t wait to make a new friend on Facebook!

NAMB and Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:14 pm

Jesse and I hustled on up to Alpharetta for me to give my presentation to the new missionaries from the North American Mission Board this morning.
j

GREAT group! I always enjoy hanging out with the new guys.

nnn

After eating lunch at the California Pizza Kitchen (never been there before, good, but a little pricey).
p We went to see Jesse’s audiologist Dr. Greenberg. Jesse got the bass frequencies boosted slightly on his hearing aid.
g

Went to Azalea to check on the kids. I worked primarily on multiplication tables with Jhan and Joy. 6 x 5, 7 x 4, . . ..
jj j lm

Came home and worked on my lawnmower. I put a new air filter and spark plug on the machine and amazingly it ran great! Mowed heavy grass in my back yard for a couple of hours.

K and I watched part of a movie on DVD, State of Play. Not bad so far. Knocked out the rest of my admin work, then ready to crash. Looking forward to having BOTH of my girls with us tomorrow! Never too much Ashley!

After all the rain, Walmart basement parking lot was still holding water!

Kathy! Ian & Ruthie! J and Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:42 pm

It was great to have Kathy ride along with J and I today! Normally, she’s helping Ashley, but she’s in a end of the year schedule now.
k
We had a fun lunch with Ian and Ruthie North. They’re doing terrific work at Huntington Creek and with the refugees in Clarkston.
o

They’re always a blessing to me!

We signed all the paper work for the apartment we have at Huntington Ridge this afternoon. I was glad that worked out.

j

They’ve raised the price of water to $65/month now. Always something. I’m still glad that the new management wants the Zamoras to stay as on site missionaries.

We went to Azalea to help the kids.
nfrn

Also taught some English!
h

It was great to have Kathy there. She’s quite good friends with the Bengali moms at the complex. She visited most of them while we were there.

Came home and J and I ran. Actually, he ran. I jogged. But I did 2 miles so that’s not bad.

I liked these clouds. They looked like frosting.
c

I’m working on a yearbook project. It got wet a few years ago and the pages stuck together. I’m soaking it and carefully trying to separate the pages and taking picture of the pages. It shows friends of mine from the Nairobi International School from 1970. Does it look like I’ve changed much?

Rob Martin and Azalea

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:51 pm

This morning Jesse and I went to the Post Office to drop off some documents I was working on for a church partner of mine.
r
Then we went to have lunch with a great partner of ours Rob Martin of Mobilizing Students.
t

We had some terrific teams with them over spring break. The teams left us a bunch of stuff to use a the missions. So generous!
s
After lunch we went to Huntington Ridge. We need to sign a contract with them for the apartment we have there. Unfortunately, they were at a corporate meeting so we’ll have to do it tomorrow.

We had a little time between assignments so J and I went to Perimeter Mall to take another look at the iPad. What a wonderful device! Over a million sold in the first month!
i

I about wore myself out trying to mow the yard yesterday. The mower wasn’t working very well, to put it mildly. I looked for some parts to do a tune up.
s

The kids at Azalea are doing well. We had a good time helping Joy with is math and Rebecca with her reading project.
j
sm

Also had a new young man named Christian that I’m helping learn English.
c
Came home and enjoyed watching House with Kathy. Then a Monk episode from 2003 where he was married to Sharona. Too funny!

Rained over 3 inches at my house today!
r

On our way home from Chattanooga yesterday the lakes looked completely full, even to the trunks of the trees. What a difference a year makes!

T & K weekend!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:18 pm

After two weeks in the jungles of Costa Rica I was ready for some alone time with my sweet wife!
k
We enjoyed the weekend together in one of the most beautiful places on Earth: Raccoon Mountain.
r

We had a good time riding for miles on the bikes around Chattanooga.

tr

I loved these stone carvings.

Great time!

The Common Cup & Azalea

Tim A. Cummins @ 12:13 am

I spent most of my morning today editing a video for a new partner of mine Ken Landers who is the director of the Common Cup ministry in Monteverde, Costa Rica.

Here’s what I put together for him.

This afternoon, Jesse and I went to help the kids with their homework.

j

Fun to work with those sweet kids!

Newsletters & Azalea

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:49 pm

Last two days we’ve been working on newsletters! It’s that time of the month!

Yesterday the kids helped us put the labels on the envelopes.
aj

They’re always great to help with that.
b
Then this morning I printed out the copies and K, J and I wrote notes on all the letters.

Got them in the mail before heading to the mission this afternoon.

We had fun helping the kids with their homework.

The little girls are so cute over there!
g

Jesse enjoys kicking the ball with the kids. Johan is pretty good.
j
Back to admin work this evening.

I plan to start editing tonight. Huge job. I shot about 400 minutes of video around Costa Rica in preparation for taking teams over there. I’ll edit that down to about 8 stories about the area.

Ever seen a Smart Car? I want one!

I’m Back! Kathy’s Birthday–Big 50!

Tim A. Cummins @ 3:51 pm

I got back from Costa Rica–the land of “Pura Vida!”

I had a great time, but I sure was glad to be home.
f
I enjoyed getting to know Marlo and his family the best.

Of course I’m a nature boy so I loved hiking in the jungle too!

My Spanish is better, so the goal of the trip was accomplished, although, honestly I’m glad to be back to speaking English all the time. When you have to try and communicate constantly in another language it gets pretty tiring.

Sunday was Kathy’s birthday! It was a terrific day!k
t
We went to Rockbridge Baptist Church where Ashley and I spoke.
m

I always enjoy preaching! As Kathy would say, “Tim lives to hear himself talk.”

After the service, we met with the Mission Committee.
r

Glover Baptist Church was Whirlwind Mission’s sponsoring church. Since they merged with Faith Baptist to become Rockbridge Baptist, it left us without a sponsor. Seems like Rockbridge BC will vote on sponsoring us at their next business meeting. Praise the Lord for that!

We took Kathy to her favorite Italian food place last night for her birthday.
k

It’s been great to be back home. I hope you missed reading my blog, but I’m back in the saddle now, baby!

I’ve been working on uploading the pictures I took as well as downloading the video from my video camera onto my computer so I can start editing.

Jesse and I are going to he mission at Azalea in a few minutes. They haven’t had much homework because they’re taking the State CRCT test.

GREAT to be back with my family!

Made it to Costa Rica

Tim A. Cummins @ 2:22 pm

Had a great flight.

Super fast through immigration and customs.

Reminds me a lot of the Rift Valley of Kenya!

Puta vida!
