Rob! Fellowship!Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:14 pm

Had a fun day today!

Met with my partner Rob Martin from Mobilizing Students.
u

They’ve been great at sending us team to work in the International Village!

Today was a perfect example of that as we had the leadership team from Fellowship Bible Church in Nashville, TN come to see our work! Great to meet new friends, Kaitlan, Ellen and Steve! Good people!
k
e
t

We had a great lunch of Mexican food at El Toreros. Caught up with Ian and Ruthie North while we were there.
i

They’ll be helping with the team when they come in June.

Then to N. Peachtree BC to check out their housing for the group of 80 middle schoolers!
j
Jonathon Carnes has been an terrific help in housing our teams at his church.
j

I always enjoy taking people around to show them the wild stuff in my area.

n

s

Lovely smile, eh?
s

Can’t beat a good octopus arm!
o
A sign you don’t see every day.
c
Of course this one is MUCH more common.
a
Got this shot at the Muslim book store on Jimmy Carter.
c
I don’t have to think too long to figure out the answer to this one.
k

Then to Azalea to help the kids with their homework. Sure was glad that Jesse was there to help!
t
j
I enjoy helping Kathy learn how to read. Her shirt is right. . . she is a sweetheart!
k

Finishing up admin duties.

Reboot! Managers! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:04 pm

This morning I picked up three computers for my partner Eduardo Zamora who works at Huntington Ridge. He’s putting together a terrific computer center for the residents with our help! Reboot is a great partner for helping with computers.
r

Had a good meeting with my apartment manager partners today at Sheltering Arms. Always good to see my friends. My partners at American Disposal Services provided lunch for the meeting and gave me the rest of the food to feed the kids at Azalea Place Apartments.
ad

THANKS for that!

Worked on admin duties at my office at FBC Doraville. Been working on my financial report and putting together all the documents for my 2010 taxes. I really hate doing all that stuff. I reckon I’m not alone!

Did a lot of work on planning for the teams coming to help me during Spring Break in March. I have to really get it organized since I won’t be in town then.

Walked around the FBC Doraville property with Pastor Bill Kelly.
b

I’ll have teams help do some service projects in March at the church.
d
Then over to Azalea to help the kids. Kathy, Jesse and Linda came to help. What a blessing!

I didn’t leave the mission till after 7pm last night. Man, I was pooped!

I liked these ivy leaves.

Trees! Perimeter! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 12:32 am

This morning I awoke to the sound of chainsaws!
t
Men are in my neighborhood trimming trees from power lines. I reckon that’s a good thing. They took down one tree to the ground. That’s life in the big city!

Had fun visiting with my partners from Perimeter Church this morning!
p

They have been one of my biggest supporters. I sure do love those guys!

Chip Sweeney has been with me since the very start of our ministry.
c
The longer I’ve been here (going on 15 years now!), the fewer those folks become!
o

p

Chelsea Sabo and her family have been great workers in our ministry! She’s the right stuff! Sure was sorry to hear that she’s not helping with the missions department.
c

Spent time in the office working on email duties. Figured I’d better do that since I’m working on my financial report next. I’ll probably get to bed around 1am. It’s a weigh of life!

Had a good time with the kids at the mission! They held up stickers that reminded them of me.

Got some pretty wacky answers as to why!

I took a new computer to a family at Azalea today! We’re in the blessing business!
c

Beautiful sunset!
ss

This evening the moon produced a muted circular rainbow in the upper level ice crystals. Can you see the colors? Art by God!

Podcasts! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:18 pm

This morning I worked on two new podcasts! Always fun!

Check out “The Will to GRIN!” A new favorite!

And a podcast that has changed my life! “Expect GREATNESS!” Worth a listen for an even better life!

Kathy and Jesse joined me at Azalea today. The kids were mighty sweet on Valentines Day!
m

j

t
k

Melissa practiced her reading with me.
m

She wanted me to see where her new tooth was coming in.
m

Jhan had a blue nose. It’s a mystery why.
j

I had a dream last night that I was in the mountains looking for rocks. I heard a mountain lion roar and ran for the car. Just before I got there the big cat jumped out. Who would save the day? Our little dog, Sugar!
s
Now you know I was dreaming!

Chatta! Racoon Mtn! Ansel!

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:29 pm

K and I had a great time for our Valentine weekend! What a blessing to spend time with my sweety favorite!
k
On the way up to Tennessee, I noticed a billboard that said “Ansel Adams exhibition.” WOW! That guy is one of my heroes! Kathy was sweet enough to let me wander around the Booth Western Art Museum to my heart’s desire.

Later that weekend I experimented with B/W photography. I love shooting pictures!

We enjoyed walking around the hills of Chattanooga. I liked these houses.
c

hh

K and I hiked to the top of the hill overlooking Chattanooga. When we got there we saw this sign.
v

These dogs wanted to be our new best friends!
d
I’m pretty sure they’d lick a burglar to death.

I liked this wall.
w

And this fence made of old bikes.
b

I tried to play this. Rock and Roll! Well actually, Brick and Roll!
p

I reckon this is why we have such sweet, angelic children!
m

And of course my favorite place to hang out is Reflection Riding, just outside Lookout Valley. Awesome!
t
r

rr

I liked this hawk!
h

And these berries!
b

And this old log cabin!
c

Great to be back home. Looking forward to a fun week.

Never seen anything marked radioactive traveling on the highway before!
r

I’m pretty sure they do.
p

T
True dat!

I may look like this one day. It’s the logo for Hillbilly Willy BBQ.
w

Beautiful ending to the weekend!

Frost! Gwinnett Christian Academy! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:14 pm

Mighty cold this morning!
28
I was so glad that our AC man came by yesterday to fix our heater. Turned out to just be a loose wire. PTL for that!

I like the frost crystals on the car. Beauty all around us!
f
Had a great time this morning with the whole GCA school!
g

They’re located at Bethany Baptist Church.
bbc

I had a partner of mine, Lisa North, invite me to come speak to the kids. I did my “Cambodia” presentation where I take them overseas and give them the life of an immigrant. They seemed to enjoy it!

I liked their golden shovel they had for the groundbreaking!
s
And their pulpit! Although I didn’t stand behind it. Funny. Can you imagine me just standing behind a lecturn?
l

I picked up Kathy’s van today. T&G always do a great job keeping us on the road. All four of our cars have about 180,000!
t

Jesse and I had a good lunch. It was good to debrief with him about life and love since his girlfriend chose to go back up North. Sure am glad he likes it here!

We ate fish at Red Lobster. I think it’s funny that they have a plaque in the bathroom for this notice!
b

Kathy, J and I went to Azalea to help the kids this afternoon.
f
k
j

I gave some of the kids dolls.
j

I was also glad to see Ms. Linda there! She’s a teacher and so helpful!
l
I’m looking forward to the weekend with Kathy! We head for Chattanooga for a few days tomorrow! Our TK weekend!

I like these tree cutting trucks. They remind me of dinosaurs with long necks.

Podcast! Azalea! Adios!

Tim A. Cummins @ 12:38 am

This morning I worked on two new podcasts! Super groovy!
p
This show is about finding true happiness and making sure it stays put! Check out “Interior Happiness”

And perhaps the most important episode I’ve ever recorded. Don’t put limits on yourself!
“Limit Limitations!”

We had lunch at Madina in Clarkston. One of my Food Faves! They were preparing for a big celebration at the Mosque.

j

Can you believe this was the lock on the bathroom door?
l

A sad day in the Cummins’ household as our new friend, and Jesse’s girlfriend moved back to Massachusetts. Colleen was a great help at the mission. She’ll be missed!

I took doughnuts to the kids for a little going away party for Colleen. My buddy at Dunkin Doughnuts remembered me from the mission. He gave us an extra dozen! Sweet! Literally . . .

k

j
Colleen rode back north on the Chinese bus that starts at the Buford Highway Farmer’s Market.
b
j

We did a recon of the grocery store before she left. It’s had a remarkable face lift since I was there last. Really interesting stuff there.

Huh?
c

Romanian magazines.

When’s the last time you saw live bullfrogs?

Ian & Ruthie! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:10 pm

Had a fun day!

I always enjoy hanging out with Ian and Ruthie North, two of my favorite people!
i
They’d had some car problems, so I helped them get their vehicle towed to the dealer and get it fixed.
c

Glad it was easy to do!

Once they had their car I went over to Walmart to pick up another heater for my fish tank.
h
MAN, their water was cold. In the winter my room stays at a pretty consistent 60 degrees. That’s pretty cold for a fish. Ain’t much warmer for people!

Went over to the mission at Azalea to help the kids. Jesse and Colleen met me over there to help. Sure is great to have a team!

Rained on the way home. Hate driving in that drizzle. Those squeaking windshield wipers is one of the most irritating noises I know.

I bought Ashley a little Valentine’s gift. It’s a bubble bath mushroom!
a

Back to admin duties!

I noticed the name on the escalator. It struck me that this was Schindler’s Lift!

Clarkston! Stone Mountain!

Tim A. Cummins @ 3:36 pm

This morning Kathy and I went to Clarkston International Bible Church.

c
That’s normally where we go when I’m not speaking somewhere or out of town.

We had a baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
p
Always a blessing to see that! Missed hearing Pastor Phil preach, but Alan was good too.

But I don’t dig these styrofoam “bread” wafers.
s
Looks like it should be on a NASA mission, not in church.

For lunch we went to one of my Food Favs: Pho Truc.
f

Love their grilled pork. And the spring rolls with peanut sauce is awesome.
p
This has to be one of the wackiest quotes I’ve ever seen at any restaurant.
v
t
One reason I love Clarkston is because of the bizarre signage. This is Bhutanese.
b

Kathy and I hiked Stone Mountain late this afternoon.
m
It was so beautiful with the golden light illuminating the water streaming down the rock.

I heart Atlanta!

The golden rails looked like a highway to heaven.

FBA! Connect!

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:50 pm

t
Today I worked with a great team of students from First Baptist Atlanta!
f
They had a terrific conference which included spending the nights at host homes.
c
cc
The students served at nine different apartment complexes around Metro Atlanta.

It was awesome to see the young people at work for Jesus!

w
w
c
g

I picked up Bayo from the mission at Huntington Terraces and we went to Clarkston.
b
He spoke at a youth rally at Clarkston International Bible Church tonight! I’m sure he did an awesome job!

Beautiful sunset this evening. GREAT way to end an day!
m
Did you notice the moon?

If the organizer asked me, “Tim, what shall we put on the poster that describes you?” Not sure I’d say, “Ordinary.” Apparently, she did. I doubt it describes her either!
