I enjoyed a restful morning. Thought about our war vets. Hard to believe we still have war. Seems like our species would have grown out of that by now.

Although it’s getting a lot better.

K and I enjoyed a cool movie called Way Out. It was about these people in a gulag in Siberia who escaped and walked across the Gobi Desert and the Himalayas to India. Over a 4,000 mile walk.

After all that about a long walk, we went for a 2.25 mile walk around the neighborhood. We took Sugar with us.

Our neighbors built a long slip and slide.

I noticed a hummingbird nest had fallen to the ground. I’ve heard about them using lichens, but had never seen it in real life before. Hope the baby birds are ok!

I read they use spider web to tie it together. Amazing.

It was beautiful. Especially the flowers.



In Georgia the neighborhoods make banners in honor of the graduates. They don’t do that in Texas.

I don’t like the sound of this sign.

I thought this looked cool. Not sure what it came off of.

I like the sun streaming through the clouds.

Wednesday afternoon Ashley and I prepped the mission for the team coming from the Chinese Christian Church.


After the carpets are cleaned it’ll be even better.

Thursday, Kathy and I headed to the North Georgia mountains and Clayton in particular.

We ate at Loretta’s in the Gainesville area
.

We stay at good ol’ number 12.

We enjoy the magnificent Tallulah Gorge.

I liked this.

Big beetle.

I like looking at antiques.

I drank Dr. Pepper all weekend long.

Just a little over 100 miles to Clayton from Stone Mountain.

Didn’t really find anything to buy. But I like looking.

I liked the flowers I saw along the road.

I liked this grate.

On the way home we went to the marina at Lake Lanier where we’re going to hold the Celebration of Vows for Ashley and Miles.

Fun weekend!

Had a fun day!

We had lunch with Bob Ashman and Pastor Joe Kontyko. Then took them over to Sandy Springs to see the mission work in that area!

Had a great time getting to know the managers in the area again and giving the the good news of the team coming to help in June!

It’s always fun to get to know some of the residents.

After setting up the four apartment complexes, Ash and I went to pick up chairs from our partner Tim Hutchinson at Suburban Rentals!

They’ve been SO generous to us!

We also went to see a Flea Market before going to Azalea to help the kids!
I thought these mannequins were weird.

I bought this Egyptian plate. I liked the metal work.

No one had any work to do. So we just had fun with the kids. I was glad they helped me carry in all the chairs.

The girls are glad school is almost out!

Back to the office to do my admin jobs and spend time with Kathy in the evening!

GREAT day!

Ashley and I spent hours today going through our list of locations for the Summer Teams.

We contacted all 22 of them and verified the routes that the buses will travel.

NOT an easy task!

We took a short break before going to the missions. Chamblee is blessed with a whole row of antique stores. I love looking at all the old stuff! Biggar Antiques is one of my favorites.

I thought this old globe was amazing. I has to be nearly 100 years old. Groovy!

Then over to Azalea to help the kids! Only two more days left! A couple of the girls needed help with a book report.

Did some cleaning of the mission. It’s always something to pick up.

Came home and ate pizza with Kathy.

Looking forward to spending time with her tonight.

Powerful clouds today!

Kathy and I hiked up Stone Mountain last night! We were on a mission: to find her prescription sunglasses.

We did! Stone Mountain is beautiful! I love the nature I see there!



Then we watched a wonderful sunset. Art by God!

This morning we went to Clarkston International Bible Church.

Pastor Phil had a special service for our graduates.

Then he preached on sex. That was different!

We met up with Ashley and Miles at CIBC then went over to Global Mall for lunch. HUGE crowd over there.

I thought this item was funny.

There are 5 different Hindu temples at that mall. It’s an interesting place!

This is what I wore as a kid.

Never too much of this!

But the biggest crowd was for a conference for Muslims.

Came home to rest and enjoy the afternoon.

Kathy and I had a fun day with our team from FBC Mountain Park!

We met up with them at the church, then took them over to Madina for some delicious Ethiopian food!

We met up with several folks from Kenya!

Took them to an African grocery store.

Then over to Halal Pizza to hang out with men from Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia and Sudan. Fun!

Came home to rest and work on admin duties. It’s amazing!

It’s always a good day when I get to speak Swahili!

Ashley and I visited some apartment complexes today as we set up for the Summer Teams.

Then we went to Huntington Terraces and Azalea to check on our Va Tech teams.

Came home to enjoy time with Kathy.

Did one of my favorite things today: Podcast! Today marks the 150th episode of Verbal Surgery. It’s one of the best things I’ve ever done!

I really like this edition. It’s called “Gas Tank!” Just click on the title and get to listening!

Took Kathy out for lunch.

The Virginia Tech team did a great job painting the Fellowship Hall at FBC Doraville!

Went to work early today so I could go back to Broad Street Antiques. I wanted to pick up a globe that Ashley liked.

It lights up! Groovy! I thought the base was cool too.

I also found this cool glass head with brain!

Skulls, skeletons and brains are other stuff I really enjoy collecting!

GREAT to finally get to spend some time with Larry Anderson, the Director of Youth Outreach United. They’ve been partners of ours for many years.

Ashley and I checked on our team from Virginia Tech.

They’re doing a great job at Azalea and Huntington Terraces!

I love looking through antique stores. I’m drawn to the weird,funky stuff. I especially like old Yoda stuff, medical instruments, globes and Ben Franklin. But I find all kinds of things interesting!

I also found this.

Did you know I was in Playboy? The 1980 Bo Derek issue to be exact.

I was part of the Noble NoZe Brotherhood, a fraternity which is known for being super smart and funny. We dressed up in plastic noses because the Baylor administration didn’t like our satire.

It was an amusing part of my history. Can you tell which one I am? Clue: I liked white hats and flip flops then too.

Woke up this morning with some vertigo. I had that problem about a year ago. Hated it. Hopefully, it’ll go away soon. Still feel a bit woozy.

Today I went by Bristol Court apartments to check on whether we could host teams there during the Summer. They told me that they already had a Summer program. I was really surprised by that. We still may help them for a couple of hours for one week. I liked this sign outside the complex.

I went to Arby’s for lunch. The cash register was a little too familiar for my taste.

I read several articles on Steve Jobs in Wired magazine during lunch. I liked this excerpt the best.

Went by Goodwill to check on tshirts. This sign in the front window concerned me.

Met up with Ashley at Azalea to help the kids with their homework.

Enjoyed watching Big Bang Theory episodes with Kathy this evening!

Did you know I like windmills? I have about 25 of them in my back yard in different patterns. This one was near the book store. It’s about three foot wide. Excellent!

I’ve been doing some research on Peru. I like to visit there one day.
