FBC Prattville! Conference! 1.26.19

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:02 pm

Super cold today! Froze the water in the bird bath! When I left the house, it was still 26 degrees!

I always think frost is beautiful.

Picked up Ashley and the girls this morning! Went on Safari to Prattville, AL! This terrific church has partnered with Whirlwind Missions for years!

We stopped at the rest area when we got to the Alabama state line. I liked this poster.

Studied Spanish on the way to Alabama and when we got to the hotel.

The church was ready for us!

We had the Missions Fair for the children this evening.

Great time with the kids.

Glad to meet the Pastor!

Fun fair!

Delicious supper with friends

Love this little sweetheart!

Holiday Inn Express is a really nice place. I stayed at their sister hotel in Birmingham.

Admin duties now.

Sunday morning, the girls and I will be speaking at New Prospect Baptist Church. We look forward to it!

2 Way! Podcast! Newsletter! 1.25.19

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:35 pm

Thursday evening, Jesse helped me do a distance test with my new 2 way radios. Ashley helped me in Chamblee and we got about a mile of usable distance. The same was true by our house. Both areas are pretty hilly and lots of buildings to interfere with the signal, but still pretty good. In an open area they should do a lot better.

Studied Español.

Did you know that in Spanish you don’t capitalize language’s names?
Doesn’t look right to me unless I do.

I guess it’s my culture.

Did research on the range of 2 way radios and why it works that way.

Released Verbal Surgery -630- “Track Attraction.”

Wrote my newsletter.

Printed the labels.

I haven’t been feeling great. Still coughing, although I don’t really spit up much. Spent most of the day in bed resting.

Played some BO4.

Watched some shows on Netflix and read my new book by Todd Rundgren.

Going to sleep early tonight if possible. Then head towards Chamblee tomorrow around 9:00 am. It’s a pretty long drive to Prattville from the ATL. It’s just outside of Montgomery, AL about 3 hours from home.

Poetry! Jon & Mark! Mission! 1.22.19

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:25 pm

Studied poetry last night. Pretty much have Death nailed. Working on Wordsworth now.

Pretty cold in my room last night. In fact, may have been the coldest I’ve ever slept through, 51.5!

I’ve only used my heater once so far this year. I got it out again today!

I woke up kind of hoarse this morning. Not good. I have a big conference I’m speaking at this weekend.

Studied Spanish!

Little bit every day with grammar. Plus listening to Tito’s bilingual sermons on the ride home which is usually at least 45 minutes.
Great lunch with my friend Jon Paul and his son Mark. Two of my favorites!

Part of my Contact Resolution for 2019 is to set up the next get together before we leave.

I got Todd Rundgren’s new book in the mail today! He’s been a huge musical influence for me and a fascinating character. I’ve met him twice and look forward to when he’s doing his concert/book tour this year!

Froze the water in my bird baths.

Released a new episode of Verbal Surgery -629- “Heart A Lack.”

Recorded a new episode of VS this afternoon called “Get Younger!” It’s a new favorite! I now have over two weeks “in the can” waiting for release.

I’m especially diligent about feeding the wild animals during severe cold spells.

Did the grocery shopping. One of the heaviest strollers ever.

Just saying.

The trunk in my car started giving me problems a couple of days ago. It wasn’t closing properly. Today, it refused to open. Took it to my mechanic. He showed me the release switch from the inside, but had to take off the cover in the back.

Rained about 2.5″ at my house over the weekend.

Checked the mail at the church.

Helped the kids at the mission. When it’s so cold, few kids come out. Don’t blame them. Enjoyed hanging out with the grandgirls.

Learning parts of Wordsworth’s poem Ode: Intimations on Immortality

Picked up the mail at FBC Doraville. Talked with our office manager to see about the church helping us print our newsletter.

Met up with our friends Scott and Melody from FBC Jonesboro. They will be coming to work with us this Summer. Love choir teams!

We ate at the Buford Highway Farmers Market, then took them to China Town.

Never too much girl time!

I always think Everly is going to get a crick in her neck.

I liked this tea!

China Town is a cool place.

I spotted the International Space Station for the 42nd time this evening! Terrific visibility!

The moon was gorgeous this evening!

Westside! Research! 1.20.19. Eclipse!

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:32 pm

Studied. You know the drill.

Talked to my buddy Bob Burns in Scotland.

Went to Westside BC.

Pastor Ben spoke on tithing.

Been reading the book Stealing Fire.

Brought my carnivorous plants in. Supposed to be a hard freeze tonight and tomorrow night.

Talked to my buddy, Anthony.

Put extra food out for the birds and animals. I always get concerned when it’s so cold.

Added material to my Twitter feed. My sermon notes!

I continue to do research on my trip to the desert in the summer. The dust from the playa is toxic. It’s important to wear the proper kind of dust mask is there’s a whiteout.

Played some Black Ops.

Kathy got home safely from her trip to SC. She had a good visit with her Uncle Jack as well as three of her siblings.

Looks like it will be clear enough to see the lunar eclipse this evening. Hope so!

Rained pretty hard Saturday. I watched the girls while Ashley and Miles went to a comedy show. Traffic wasn’t too bad.

Listened to radio from Madrid on the way to Chamblee.

Great time watching the girls.

Sweet couple!

We always have a fun time!

Good visit with my Mom. We used these silly little games that Facebook messenger has. Girls thought they were hilarious.

Nothing sweeter.

Got home around midnight. Went on to bed. Admin duties now.

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:00 pm

Lunar eclipse coming on Sunday night! Hope it’s clear!

Studied. You know what.

Got almost all of the donor’s tax letters ready last night. Went to the Post Office to get stamps for those letters and for our newsletters.

Put the stamps on the letters and got them in the mail. Amen!

Went by FBC Doraville to pick up the mail.

Checks!

Picked up the girls and took them to lunch at Taco Veloz, then over to the Dollar Tree and Plaza Fiesta!

I like the hat.

Everly crashed out.

Penelope had a grand time.

P finally went to sleep on the way home from Plaza Fiesta. Everly laid with me, but didn’t go back to sleep. Still sweet to have her with me.

Listened to a sermon by Tito and to Radio Garden from Madrid on the way home.

Girls! Mission! Donor letters! 1.17.19

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:39 pm

It’s my Mom’s birthday today! Happy Birthday Nana! THANKS for everything you’ve done for me!

Worked on Stopping by Woods by Robert Frost. Just about have it nailed.

Working on Emily Dickinson’s “Because I could not stop for death” now.
Studied Spanish this morning. Yeah, baby!

Progress!

Recorded another edition of Verbal Surgery this morning.

Astonishing how much I love to hear myself talk.
I watched the girls while Ashley worked on the Donor Tax letters. Took them to Chic-Fil-A,
Goodwill and Dunkin Doughnuts. Good times!

We all have fun.

Helped the kids at the mission. It was rainy, but we still had a good group!

Whenever I go to Goodwill, I always look for different percussion instruments for our Golden Box of Jams for the teams. I found several good ones today. Dropped them off at the church.

I collated the letters that Ashley wrote for the donors with the address labels, signed and stuff the envelopes. There are still a few gaps that we’ll figure out soon. Some people gave on line and I didn’t have the address. Others, I think may have donated that we need to verify did not.

In March, the people that have not given all year will get a note with the newsletter saying that have to send back the form or else they’ll drop off the list. That we keep a high percentage of people that receive the newsletter that also give. Why waste the stamp?

Took about two hours for me and three hours for Ashley. Not an easy job, but a necessary one!
