Calls! Yard Work! 3.21.20

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:33 pm

Beautiful day!

I did my Spanish and brain training this morning.

Had fun calling Anthony, my Mom, and Ashley and the girls!

Put the primer on the sheet rock that was repaired.

Worked on my yard a little over four hours today.

Here are the before pictures.

Work!

I raked and trimmed bushes.

Lotta heavy work including pulling up roots and digging them up.

Sticks and roots into the bush pile.

Trimmed tree branches.

Mowed.

Blowed.

Mulched most of the leaves.

Cleaned shoes.

Lotta beauty!

Cleaned near my door.

Podcast! Yard Work! Plants! 3.20.20

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:42 pm

Studied Spanish and did my brain training.

Released a new episode of Verbal Surgery “Peacock Feet!” and also recorded an episode. Double pleasure.

Great talk with my buddy Anthony Jacquin today.

Did a lot of yard work got most of the leaves into the compost area now. I’ll mulch them up with the lawnmower soon.

I got a new tarp for my roof. I took the old one down and used that to gather leaves. I staple gunned the new one up there until we can get the roofers to come fix it. During the corona crisis I don’t know when that will be. But at least my roof won’t be getting any worse now.

Took all my plants outside. I think the chance of it getting freezing cold now is very slim.

I planted these ivy strands.

Yard Work! Plants! Census! 3.19.29

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:08 pm

I did my Spanish study.

Talked with the guys fixing my amplifier. They made it sound like it wasn’t worth fixing because it has a lot of other problems. But all I really needed was one channel and a simple knob to get fixed. So hopefully they’ll be able to do at least that.

I captured and released squirrel number 89 today. That was the first squirrel of 2020. Normally during the winter the squirrel population doesn’t move very much. But in the spring and summer time and a lot of them come from far away to get bird food and such.

So beautiful

I did about two hours of yard work. The leaves were pretty dry. Normally, I do at least four or five hours of that yardwork and then the next day my back is terrible. So I decided this time to do less over more days so I won’t hurt myself. At least that’s the strategy.

I have a tarp covering a damaged area of my roof. Stapled it back down.

The pollen is here!

I went to Lowe’s to pick up some paint and a tarp to help me with yardwork and to repair the sheet rock that got replaced. Also enjoyed looking at all the succulents that they had in stock. I brought six or seven small ones. They’re endlessly fascinating to me.

Worked on the census for the government tonight. Got that submitted.

Hummingird! Bike! ISS! 3.18.20

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:20 pm

I did my regular Spanish study and brain training. Are you doing something every day to improve your life a little bit?

I was excited to see the first hummingbird of the year today at the feeder by my office window. Always a blessing.

Rode my bike 10.37 miles.

I saw the international space station fly over for the 56th time this evening.

Succulent care.

Interesting info on Covid-19.

Mushroom.

Podcast! Anthony! Groceries! 3.17.20

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:06 pm

Did my brain training and studied Spanish. Surprised?

Recorded a new podcast this morning in my continuing Corona series.

Had a great talk with Anthony.

Also called my mom to see how she’s doing. She’s her usual perfect self!

I love this quote by Emerson. “Drink the wild air.”

I did the grocery shopping. I went to a local grocery store…it seemed like it was out of the 70s. I’m just so used to high-speed places like Walmart. It really surprised me. I was able to get some groceries so that’s good! There was maybe 1/10th the amount of people at this grocery store than there are at Walmart. Completely different vibe. Easy to isolate but also more expensive.

Rode my bike 8.74 miles. Gorgeous weather. The lighting was so beautiful tonight.

Released a new episode of Verbal Surgery -744- “Hocus Focus.”

Another in my Corona series.

Podcast! Anthony! 3.16.20

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:14 pm

I studied Spanish this morning.

Had a good talk with Anthony today.

Very disturbing what’s going on in the world right now.

I recorded an episode of Verbal Surgery again in regards to the coronavirus. That one is called Hocus Focus. I’ll release it tomorrow.

Been staying inside watching Netflix been playing Borderlands 3.

It’s been raining a little bit every day so it makes it unsafe to ride a bike.

Book! Garden! 3.15.20

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:50 pm

Did my Spanish and brain training.

Started reading the book Mind Over Mind. I’ve read it before, I really enjoyed it. It’s about placebos and how much what your expectations are of the event determine what happens in the event.

Enjoyed spending some time in my garden today. I brought in the carnivorous plants from outside. I figure they’ve had enough of a dormant period.

Enjoyed reading some William Blake poetry. He’s one of my very favorites.

Book! Bike! 3.14.20

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:26 pm

I did my brain training and Spanish study this morning.

I finished reading Tim Ferriss’ book Tools of Titan. My favorite chapter was with Robert Rodriguez.

I went for an 11.88 mile bike ride. Beautiful weather today.

It’s not only gorgeous flowers but also the fabulous smells as you ride up and down the streets.

Sunflowers.

I decided if I was going to be in quarantine with the rest of the county, I should spend some of that time working out.

Podcast! Blog! 3.13.20

Tim A. Cummins @ 7:25 pm

Did my usual morning of Spanish study and brain training.

Recorded a new episode of Verbal Surgery that I will release today called “Going Viral.”

Some thoughts on how to respond to this pandemic.

Great talk with Anthony.

Went to Walmart to get groceries. All the bananas were sold out. It made me sad.

Churches are closing this Sunday.

Schools are out next week. I’m glad we’re taking this seriously.

How did this happen?

Lawn mowers.

Indeed.

Azaleas!

This will mess up part of our trip to Tennessee. The girls will be super disappointed.

Grandgirls! Groceries! 3.12.20

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:37 pm

Did my brain training and Spanish study this morning.

Talked to my amplifier repair guy. Hope to get that amp fixed quickly.

Deposited some checks.

Talked to Pastor Brock about speaking at his church soon.

Had a great time with the grand girls and Kathy.

We took them to the goose park. They really had a good time!

Had a fun lunch with Ashley, too.

Went to get the groceries at Walmart.

It really was weird to see all the toilet paper gone. All the bleach gone. All the disinfectants gone. It’s like preparing for a hurricane. But a virus.
