New Missions!

Tim A. Cummins @ 5:55 pm

I dig it when God just suddenly puts things together.

I spent most of my day contacting managers about our teams coming to do Backyard Bible Clubs next week.

I have a team of nearly 1,000 people in town next week from churches along the East Coast. They’ll be working in 32 different apartment complexes! God is good!
l3

I spent hours on the phone going down the list talking to managers saying, “Great news! Next week, on the 8th, 9th, and 10th, that’s Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, I’ll have a team come to your apartment complex from 1-4pm. They’ll have recreation for the kids, a craft, a snack and a Bible Story. Everything’s free! Look forward to seeing you next week. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask.” Over and over and over again. I don’t mind it though. I’ve giving the managers really good news and they’re always super happy to hear from me.

I went to a new location for us on Harbins Road this morning.
hwhw2
The manager there said that she’d talk with her District Manager to get his approval for having a BBC next week. There is another property next to them. I hope to talk to them tomorrow. Pray that God will continue to open doors.

Then when I talked with the Mia, the manager at Magnolia Village in Lawrenceville, she talked to me about their sister property which is some high end deal near the Mall of Georgia in Buford, GA. The really want us to come over and do something. Just the last few days I’ve been talking to my partner Tyler about setting up work in the Buford area! It’s really cool for me to see who the Father puts it together so precisely: right location, right timing, right person. I’ve learned over time that the best plans are the ones that seem to just “fall together.” I’ve seen that if I have to push to hard to “make” something happen, it rarely works out. It’ the difference between a Tim thing and a HIM thing.

Planning and Arriving

Tim A. Cummins @ 2:25 pm

Been working at my office all day long.  Making phone calls to verify the locations we have going on next week.  We’ll be covering at least 32 different apartment complexes with close to 1,000 people!  I have most of the info I need.  Tomorrow I’ll work on calling the managers up and letting them know when to expect the team to arrive.  This logistics stuff takes a long time to figure out!

Went by my house to check on the work.  The electricians are wiring in the lights and plugs today.

Dropped by Staples and Walmart to pick up supplies for next week.

Worked on my financial report for my treasurer.

We’ll pick up Ashley tonight at the airport at 7:30pm.  PTL!! Can’t wait to see her!

Rainbows and The Bridge

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:05 pm

Kathy and I had a great time at the Bridge this morning, which is the contemporary service at FBC Mountain Park.
b1
The topic was “Why does God allow suffering?”  I don’t think God ever causes suffering.  He is the giver of all gifts!

This evening we went to Zaxby’s to get some chicken.  After the meal we saw the most amazing rainbow!  Ever seen a double rainbow?
rb1
The second rainbow, the faint one to the right side of the bright one, is actually a reflection of the first rainbow. The colors are reversed. One time, while I was near Lake Victory in W. Kenya, I actually saw a triple rainbow! It was in a little town called Kakamega.
rb2

Then on the way home we saw these incredible “Mammatus” clouds.  God’s handwork is all around us!

International Village and First Redeemer Church

Tim A. Cummins @ 5:27 pm

I think I have all my pictures on line from the Savannah, Tybee Island trip.  Some of my best work.

I had fun today with a team from the College part of First Redeemer Church from Cumming.  I had a briefing with them at FBC Doraville then we went for a walk around Asian Square and Carniceria Numero Uno.

We had great participation from the families at Azalea Place.  The kids love “the Teams!”

I also had friends from Glover Baptist Church come to help with the event. Susan and Mary are two of my favorites! Keith and Cornelia Harrell also came by to help. I wanted the Harrells to get to know the folks from Glover since that church is the nearest partnering church to his mission at Villa Nueva.

Also went over to settle up some business with my partner Bill Hickey.  From time to time  I need to reimburse him for expenses at the mission.

Heavy rainstorm here in Stone Mountain.

Jesse has been sleeping a lot.  Please pray for him.  He seems in pretty good spirits when he’s awake.

Did I tell you I’m growing a goatee?  It’ll never last.  It was funny to see the kid’s reactions.  They couldn’t believe how long it was for one week. My chin is almost completely white.

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:14 pm

Kathy and I just got back from our stay on Tybee Island!  We had a great time.  The weather was perfect and the place wasn’t very crowded.

I shot over 1,000 pictures in five days.  I’ll post some of my favorites over the next few days.  Uploading that many jpegs takes some time.

While in Tybee, I was able to go to the library and check my email once.  That kept me pretty much caught up when I got back.  Also kept up with my phone calls.  Had a couple of youth director and a mission director needs some info while I was away.  I dig the mobile office.

If you’re not using Gmail, you should start!  Having all the contacts and email available to any computer is fantastic.

Jesse looked fine when we got home.  I was glad to spend some time with him this evening.  I wish I could get him to come with me to help with the team I have in town.

Kevin Max

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:09 pm

Kathy and I just got back from seeing Kevin Max play at the Bridge in Stone Mountain.  He is one of the best vocalists around!  He did a terrific acoustic set.  Very cool environment.  It was like he was playing in my living room!

Tim A. Cummins @ 2:45 pm

Beautiful day today!

Spent a lot of time this morning at my house seeing how the construction is going.  Today the guy was taping and floating the sheet rock that they installed this week.
pp1pp2
He walks around with stilts on.
pp3

Talked with the contractor at length about the hardware (doors, handles, etc.) going into the house.  They need to make sure everybody on the team has what they need to do the job.

If all goes well they’ll finish up on July 6th when we need to move out of the mission house.

I’ve also been arranging for the exterior of my house to get restained.  I’ll have Bill Hickey and Miles come by and work on that. I’ll go by Lowes in a little while and get a gift card for the materials that the guys can use as they need it.

Still working on the various video projects:  Bonifay, Palmers and the Fundraising Seminar with Ashley.  We’re adding a new button/page to the web site where we’ll have all the fund raising information in one place.  We have all of Ashley’s video recorded, still need to edit it.

Here’s the video of the team from FBC Bonifay, FL/Eastern Shores BC, Daphne AL—Part 1.

Part 2–

Kevin Max is playing at FBC Mountain Park this evening.  Doubt it’ll be nearly as good as Toby from last night, especially since it’s an acoustic set.

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:32 pm

I went to Clarkston this morning to work with my team from Bonifay and Daphne.  They were doing a great job on the exterior doors of the church.

The girls went with my partners Cathy Palmer and Terry Earl.  They enjoyed seeing refugee families up close and personal.  Later, Cathy and Terry made a presentation to the whole team.

I shot some video.  Turned out pretty well.

Checked on the team at Woodgate and Azalea Place.
az1az2
At Woodgate I saw a whole group of Vietnamese and Latino children praying to receive Christ as their personal Saviour!  That’s why we do what we do!

Ashley and I finished shooting the video version of our Fund Raising seminar.  We’ll have a separate section of the web site dedicated to it.

This evening I had the great pleasure to rock out with Toby Mac up close and personal.  I got right up against the stage, which is always my favorite part.  They were super tight.

Tomorrow Kevin Max, another former member of DC Talk, will be playing at the Bridge at FBC Mountain Park.  I look forward to hearing that!

Saw some of the team from Bonifay at the concert tonight!

One big happy family!
