Kathy and I
I enjoyed some extra time with Kathy today.
We’re looking forward to a little Halloween parade in our neighborhood.
Good drizzly day for resting.

This morning I went to Stone Mountain to work out on the elliptical tread mill. Ran 5.1 miles. Enjoyed the inside pool and the hot tub.
This evening Kathy and I went to Georgia Perimeter College to attend the initiation for her Honor Society.
It was a nice ceremony.
We had some difficulty getting out of the building.
Ashley and Miles went to a Halloween party.
I caught up on watching Monk. I think the party was more fun.
Had BOTH my kids with me today! Awesome!
J and I picked up Ashley at Clarkston International Bible Church and met up with Miles at Madina for lunch. Always good!
We needed supplies at Best Buy and Walmart then went over to the mission at Azalea to work with the kids.
I usually do a Great Candy Throw with them for special occasions such as Easter and Halloween. We had a lot of fun feeding kids like ducks. The parents really get into it to.
I’ve also started letting the kids help me throw candy to the other kids. They love it!
Jesse and I have been playing video games together in the evening. Fun time together.
Check out the clean shaven Mr. Tim.
Cool upper level cirrus clouds.
Saw these tiny mushrooms growing on pine cones in my garden.
Had a great day today!
Met a new partner, Rob Martin with Mobilizing Students. He helps students get involved with missions around the world. I’m proud that Whirlwind Missions and our work in Atlanta is part of that team! Toni Branyon helped us make the connection. She’s doing a great job with Communities in Transformation.
We met at my office at FBC Doraville then had lunch at a new restaurant near the church. It was pretty good, plus four of us ate for about $10! That’s not $10 a piece, that’s TOGETHER! They charge $1/scoop of food. Astonishing. Today was their grand opening.
After eating, I led Tony and Rob through a tour of the International Village. We then went to N. Peachtree BC where the teams will probably stay when they come.
We visited with Bayo Otiti and the mission at Huntington Terraces. Our team from last weekend bought Bayo a brand new Compaq computer. Awesome! Christians are SO generous!
Best part of the day was to go to the mission at Azalea and check on my kids. Haven’t seen them in about a week and a half.
Everyone was doing well and the mission actually looked in pretty good shape. Two surprises in one day!
Beautiful sunset this evening!
Fall trees in Georgia. Awesome!
Came home and shaved off my beard. It was driving me crazy. Felt like I had fiberglass in my face.
Jesse and I got back to Stone Mountain safely late this afternoon after a two day, 1,000 mile trip from Texas.
It rained a LOT on our way home, especially the first day. Pretty scary passing big trucks with floods of rain hitting the windshield. Almost zero visibility.
We sure do appreciate your prayers for us!
We spent a night in Meridian, Mississippi. Not a bad place!
We drove about 650 miles the first day, nearly 11 hours in the car.
We made it back through the Atlanta traffic in good shape early this evening.
GREAT to see my girls again!
Clouds were nearly ground level over the forests in Alabama!
This evening, K and I enjoyed watching some of our favorite shows that I’d recorded. My favorite was the Halloween special of Castle. Not sure if you’re a Nathan Fillian fan or not, but at the start of the show he dressed up like the Captain from his show Firefly. Loved that show! It was cool to see him in that character again: Space Cowboy!
This morning we went to Main Street Baptist Church in Georgetown!
This is the church where I had my call to ministry. I sang in the choir, was a leader in the youth group and really grew up there.
When I was there the church was First Baptist Church Georgetown. FBC moved out of town, but many of the original people are still there.
I thought the pastor did a great job for them.
We went to my folk’s Sunday School class. It was fun to see where they worship.
Came home for a delicious Mexican food meal. My mom was raised on the border of Texas and Mexico. She’s and AWESOME cook! I’m glad I’d lost about 20 pounds before this trip!
Went for a 5 mile run this afternoon.
Then Jesse and I went to the river to try out his metal detector. We found some cans. No treasure! But it’s still fun to look.
This evening, my brother Jim’s daughter Katie came over to our house. I did a mission presentation for her then we all worked on writing our newsletters.
Sure helps when you have help!
Jesse and I will be headed back to Atlanta tomorrow. It’s almost exactly 1,000 miles. Long trip.
It’ll be sad to say goodbye to an area and people that I love! We’ll be back Christmas time with the whole family!
Talked to Kathy this afternoon. She sounds terrible. She said she has the worst sore throat she’s ever experienced. Pray for my sweet wife!
My parent’s neighbors have some really weird looking cats.
Jesse and I had a fun time at Baylor on Friday!
We enjoyed seeing friends of mine as well as the new guys in my fraternity at Baylor.
We came on back to Georgetown late last night so we could sleep in.
Today was Jesse’s birthday: 19! We ate BBQ at Dukes. Excellent! Then we rode around town looking at the historic district around the square.
After our tour, we took in Zombieland, a movie I thought was really funny.
We stopped by Walmart to take pick up some glue for this rubber gasket that goes around the windshield. Part of it had come loose. While we were looking for that, Jesse saw a small blow torch that plumbers use. I picked him up one for his birthday. We enjoyed melting stuff!
This evening we had a party for Jesse. My Mom made him a chocolate cake. My brother Jim and his wife Kathy also came by. Fun days!
Had a great day today visiting with friends!
This morning I had two of our supporters from the Worship Place come over to my parent’s house so we could share an update of our ministry.
After lunch, David Morse, who is like another brother to me came over to visit.
He’s working in Tanzania and is home on furlough for a year.
Later I had three other friends from the Worship Place come by to hear an update on what’s going on in Atlanta. Always great to share!
Then this evening I had my brother and his family come to eat with us.
His daughter Olivia has a beautiful baby Sadie. You may remember months ago when she was born she was in the hospital due to complications at birth.. She’s made a complete recovery!
Thank you Jesus for answering our prayers!
It’s been great being here with my folks.
My Dad is one of my heroes. I always learn a lot from him!
Helped hook up the wi-fi system in their house today, with the help of Jesse–of course!
Ran 5 miles this afternoon. Got sprinkled on some. No big deal.
Went to visit with my brother Jim and his family tonight. Always fun to hang with him!
I liked this big longhorn!
Jesse and I had a safe trip to Georgetown, Texas! Praise the Lord for that! We appreciate your prayers for us.
It is almost exactly a thousand miles from my house in Stone Mountain to my folk’s house in Texas. Long way!
We enjoyed a great time talking and catching up with what’s been going on here in Georgetown, especially how my Dad is enjoying his retirement!
This morning we’re working on setting up a time to talk to supporters in the area, in particular our friends at the Worship Place where my Dad was the pastor for seven years. It’s always great to spend time with friends!
