Norths! Bayo! Computer! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:02 pm

Had a fun day today!
t
J and I had lunch with Ian and Ruthie North and my friend Bayo Otiti.
i
b

Great food at Vikhyat.
v
And great company with some of my favorite people and terrific partners!

After lunch, J and I went to Huntington Terraces to work on the computer over there.
j
Sure is good to have my wingman back who seems to be able to fix just about anything!
c
Also went to my office, where it seems I was locked out! Stupid door handle got messed up somehow.
d
So we had to go to Lowes to pick up another one to replace it.
l

Fortunately, Pastor Bill Kelly was there. He’s also a construction expert, so he helped us swap out the door knob. Sure was glad to see him.

We also received some more school supplies for the Christmas in August program! Had some cute little dolls for some of the girls.
d

Then over to Walmart to pick up some power cords for the Terraces.
c
Then to Azalea to work with the kids. We were swamped with requests for help!
m
Yow!
j

j
We worked for about 2 1/2 hours straight. I’m bushed.
w
Came on home to start on my admin duties. It’s a weigh of life.

Financial report due tomorrow morning. Tag on another couple of hours of work.

Ay, caramba!

Here’s Halloween, just around the corner!

Currys! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:58 pm

I had a fun day today with my wing man JESSE back! Yeah!
t
I worked on a new podcast today!
p

One of my best! It’s called “Connections are our main asset!” Good stuff. Take a listen!

Jesse and I met with Travis and Lorna Curry who are missionaries with the Mission Society who are headed to Namibia in October.
c
My partner Don Devlin asked me to come and share some of my insights with living and growing up in Africa with them.
d

They’ll be running an orphanage way out in the bush near the Zambezi River. Should be an adventure!

J and I then went to the office at FBC Doraville to pick up more school supplies that have been sent to us as the “Christmas in August” program that the mission kids are doing at S. Baptist churches around the States.
p

Today we got packages from Mississippi, Florida, N. Carolina and Georgia! Cool!
p

We took the supplies over to my brother Bayo for the kids at Huntington Terraces.
b
I continue to support the missionaries on our team around the city with goodies!

Then over to Azalea to help the kids at the mission. Homework was pretty easy today!
s

j

We came home and I went for a 2.5 mile run. I have an ingrown toenail on my big right toe and my knee has been bothering me a bit, so I didn’t run my usual 4 miles.

Lie to Me comes on tonight! Looking forward to that!

Knocking out the rest of my admin work now.

I enjoyed seeing the Harlan family at FBC Doraville today. Mrs. Harlan turned 90 this year!
h
I thought this sign was funny. Don’t know exactly why. Sounds like something the kids would say. “I have no ID what to do, Mr. Tim.”

Jesse! Drake House Ice Cream!

Tim A. Cummins @ 5:43 pm

I had a fun morning with Jesse! Always great to spend time with him.

This afternoon Kathy, J and I went to Roswell to support a friend of mine’s ministry, the Drake House.

They have an ice cream party in the park in Roswell each year to raise funds. The place was packed! I’m sure they did great! I was glad to see my brother Bill there. His girlfriend Deborah works for the Drake House.
j

I spent some time walking around Roswell, one of my favorite cities in Georgia. It’s a very historic place.

Today I found out the “Old Bricks” built in 1836 were the first apartments in the USA! I thought that was pretty cool!
b
Back to admin work and resting!

I took a picture of this ear ring on the ground. I thought it was cool!
e

I also liked this TV/Coke machine!
c

We had these in Kenya. We called them “sticks.”
s

I thought this paint had an interesting texture.

FBC Duluth! Jesse Homecoming!

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:38 pm

BEST day in a long time today!
g
After getting the groceries at Kroger for the outreach event, I met up with FBC Duluth at Villa Nueva.

I had fun rounding up the kids.
k
e
The team did a great job! Davida brought all her kids with her. They were awesome.

f
h
d
h
h

Also had Keith and Cornelia Harrell, the directors of the mission there. They are also doing a wonderful job.
k
After we fed the lunch we also had school supplies for them.
s
sp
b
A great time was had by all.
FBC Duluth at Villa Nueva

I came home and cleaned the fish tanks.
f

But the best part of the day was having my wingman JESSE home! PTL!!

He made it safely back from New Hampshire. We decorated the house!
h

Nothing better than having your chicks all under one roost!
aj
He’s lost like 20 pounds in the last three months!

We took him to Torerros tonight! Great to have Miles and Ashley with us too.
m
Kathy got this little ice cream!
i
I found this word on the ground at Villa Nueva. Pretty much summed up my day.

Financials! Movies!

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:49 pm

This morning I spent time organizing information for our CPA. Takes time dealing with tax issues!

T&G fixed the van. Turns out it was a bad cable going to the alternator. Anytime we get out of the mechanic for under $100 I feel like we did great!

For fun I went to the movies! I planned on seeing the Expendables, but go there too late so I saw Scott Pilgrim VS the World. I thought it was pretty good, but not everyone’s cup of tea.
s

I did get to see a bit of the Expendables.
e
I reckon I’ll have to wait till the DVD to see how it starts.

Went to the bookstore for a few minutes. I liked this quote. I’m into brains!
b
Went to the grocery store and did the shopping. Big list.

Then back home to help Kathy.

We enjoyed watching Psych together. I spotted the Pineapple!

More ads on the floor. What’s up with that?
a

I dig cicadas.
c

I swear they look like they’re from another planet!

And just in case you have too many of them.
t

And here’s Mr. Tim’s Tip for you today: “If you see a big black Harley with two baseball bats, leave the driver alone.”

Printing! Writing! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:46 pm

This morning I finished up editing the newsletter then went to Staples to make my copies.
cn

Had a fun lunch with Kathy, Ashley and Miles! Mexican food always puts a smile on our faces!
m
t

We came home and wrote the notes on each of our 180 letters. I sure do type better than hand write!
l
Best news I heard is that Jesse is coming back to the ATL next week. I may need to go up there to help him get his stuff back. His car has been having some problems, but seems to be ok now that they replaced some ignition coils.

The van that Kathy drives wouldn’t start this evening. She had to get AAA to tow her back to Stone Mountain where my buddies at T&G can work on it.

All of our cars have over 160,000 miles on them! We sure do appreciate your prayers for our safe travels. We need them!

Ashley and I went to the mission at Azalea today. Lots of kids to help. They are such sweet hearts.
f
s
s
Here’s an easy question for you!
q

My hardest problem comes when I can’t figure out the homework. I get so frustrated! I know that if I can’t come up with a solution these kids are literally going to make a zero!
l

You guys up on Linear Parent Functions?
God answered our prayers by one of the other high school girls, Sandra, came over to the mission to help the other Freshmen. Sandra helped us take the kids to the pool during the summer. PTL for help!

Came home and enjoyed the Summer Finale of Burn Notice and Royal Pains!

i liked this tiny mushroom!

Newsletter! Mission! B52s!

Tim A. Cummins @ 12:02 am

Groovy day today!

This morning I worked on writing my newsletter. It’s a good one!
n
Then I ran 4 miles with the Sugar Dog. We both did pretty well. Not too hot today.

After a quick lunch, I bought the stamps for the newsletter and the envelopes then went back home to finish producing the document.
po
s
They even have commercials on the floor!

f

Over to the Mission to help the kids. They also helped me with labeling the envelopes. Some of them don’t do too great a job.
m
mm

Pretty much every combination of errors possible.

180 this month!
e

After helping the kids with their homework I went over to Chastain Park to see one of all my all time favorite bands: the B52s! Not sure if you know those guys or not, but they’re one of the best bands Georgia has ever produced.
f
Blondie also played. She was good too.
b
It was a rocking time. I managed to work my way all the way to the stage!
c
k

f

Got to meet the guitar player. He even gave me a pick!
k

Reminded me of the old days when I had a collection of at least 20 picks from some of my favorite guitarists.

Terrific concert!

Home at nearly midnight to finish up my admin work. I have a ringing in my ears. Good times!

I saw this guy at the doughnut shop.
m

This is my mascot for my car.
a

Wasn’t sure about this sticker.
b
Half-black, right?

Admin! Weights! Dentist! Mission! Painting!

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:05 pm

This morning I worked on my email then produced two new podcasts!
p

Some of my best work yet!
“Smiling is emotional duct tape,” and “Limits are artificial.”
Check ’em out!

Worked out on weights! Feeling groovy!
w
I usually take my gym outside and watch the hummingbirds fly around. Counted 7 today!

Went by Reboot to pick up the computer for Jemillin’s family. Glad that it was ready.
r
c

I planned on meeting Kathy and Ashley for lunch at Madina. Silly boy. The place is closed for Ramadan. Duh. Bahd luck.

Unbelievably, I forgot my phone by my bed. Tim with no coms? Yow! So I couldn’t track them down. This is where my phone should have been!
p

After lunch by myself, I went to the dentist. He’s the best dentist I’ve every been to. Highly recommended!
d
My teeth are perfecto, baby!
t
Then over to the office to check on mail and pick up the school supplies that some churches had sent. Unbelievably, someone had stolen the two boxes! That’s the second time I’ve had that happen. Not good.

Then to Azalea to help the kids! Great group!
n
j
a
n

Some are more enthusiastic picture takers than others!
m
s

On the way home I saw my prediction had come true. . . .in record time!

You might recall that I mentioned that there was no way that this restaurant could survive–you couldn’t find the way in!!

m
Sure enough, in less than a month the place went belly up. Whoever the banker was that gave them money to do that was an idiot.

Came home and finished painting the deck. Looking good!
d

Admin work part two now, then White Collar tonight. Get ’em Neal!

I liked the design of this phone card.
p

You don’t see many Masons around these days.

Admin! Run! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:07 pm

This morning I worked on email and proverbs! Always fun to be creative!

Then went for a four mile run. Wasn’t too hot this morning. Maybe the summer heat is letting up a bit?

Ate a late lunch then went to the office to check on mail/bills and then over to Azalea to help the kids.

One of the letters came from a church that wanted to partner with us! They sent me a picture that one of their 6 year olds had colored. I took pictures of my kids with the picture. I’m sure they’ll get a kick out of seeing the kids.

m

Kathy came to help me at the mission today. Yeah! Sure do need her help. Normally, she goes over to Kensington to help Ashley.
k

Also went to Office Depot to buy, you guessed it, more school supplies. Just about have everyone taken care of now.
b
Talked to Jesse. His car has been having problems. Sounded like the transmission, but the mechanic didn’t think so. Maybe it won’t be too hard to fix. Pray for that!

One of our Bengali families loves peppers! I thought their pepper plants were cool!

Big one!

Chatta!

Tim A. Cummins @ 7:16 pm

Had a wonderful weekend with my sweet wife, Kathy!
tk
Sure was good to get away from work for awhile!

We had fun biking all around Raccoon Mountain, which is just outside Chattanooga!

This is one of my favorite buildings in Chattanooga!
c

I liked this iron work on the North Shore of Chatta.
i

And this brass duck!
d

And this super cool bag from Japan!
b

We biked over 20 miles in the three days we were there. May not sound like much, but for one of the days we basically pushed the bikes up a four mile mountain!
m

Where kudzu is king!
k

I love these delicate cirrus clouds. I think they look like frosting.
c

Beautiful butterflies!
b

I thought this flower was awesome!
f
I liked this folk art pig!
p

Did you really need to add the word “pair?”
p

Dig this old truck!
t

Ever seen a license plate from Puerto Rico?
p

We had some powerful thunderstorms!
c
After the rain, the clouds would be super low. I reckon that’s why they call them the Smoky Mountains.
c

Beautiful sunsets over Cummings Lake.
l

I’m a part of Emmanuel’s Army!
a
t
It’d rained 3/4″ while we were gone!
r

Just a reminder:
