Podcasts! Thor! Astronaut!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:02 pm

Had an uplifting day today. Literally!

Worked on podcasts this morning. That’s always fun. As my wife would say, “Tim lives to hear himself talk!”

These are two of my favorites!

So many people just live life “going with the flow.” I believe you need to “Live Life On Purpose!!” You will really enjoy it!

Seems like sometimes we need a good “wake up” call! We often just don’t notice the wonderful things going on around us. We need to “Fall Awake!” A great one! 10,000 downloads can’t be wrong!

This afternoon I enjoyed hanging out with Jesse! Never too much of that! We had a good lunch then went to see Thor.

t

th

AWESOME movie! It was even better than I was expecting. Hard to believe he played James Kirk in the new Star Trek movie!

We came home to pick up the girls then went to Ferbank to hear Eric Boe speak.
f

He’s a NASA astronaut and was the pilot for the last flight of the Discovery space shuttle.
e
s

I liked these mirrors!
t

Fun to take a picture in a space suit!
t
Also got to touch a real, live moon rock.

How uber is that?!!

Julie! Rob! Tour!

Tim A. Cummins @ 7:47 pm

Had such a fun day today!

I always showing people around the International Village. No matter how many times I do it, I always see something new and meet cool people!
j
Julie Cook is one of the music ministers at FBC Jonesboro–a dynamite church if there ever was one.
j
Rob Martin is my partner with Mobilizing Students, one of my favorite organizations and a valuable partner.

Of course my awesome son Jesse was also with us. Don’t get no better than that!

We enjoyed eating at Penang restaurant. A new favorite!
p
We toured Asian Square and Carneceria #1, as well as Global Mall and Al Madina.

Finished off the day working with the kids at Azalea.

j
They didn’t have much homework because they have Field Day tomorrow.

Came on home to know out my admin work. Always something!

I loved the clouds today.
c

These are called “Mare’s Tails.” Or Cirrus Uncinus if you want to get fancy pants!
c

Perhaps we all need one of these.
n

I liked this motto.
o

Not crazy about this one.
s

I wonder what I’d look like with hair like this?
h

This reminded me of Jesse.

Mike & Bennett! Azalea! Slam! Bam!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:47 pm

Put a lot of miles on the ol’ Chrysler today!

J and I went to Willow Branch in Clarkston to pick up Bennett Ekandem. We had fun chatting with him on the way to the North American Mission Board. We had a meeting with Mike Riggins, our supervisor at the Board.
m
We had a great chat talking about our mission work and a situation that we’re dealing with. It’s not always easy to keep the whole team moving together, but we certainly do our best to do that!

J and I dropped off Bennett then came back home for a couple of hours.

Jesse has been interested in racquetball lately. I’ve been teaching him a few things about the sport. We bang the ball around in our garage and generally have a good time. Never too much Jesse!

Then off to the church to check the mail and then to Azalea to help the kids with their homework.
n
j

The Bengali ladies are studying English now! I was so proud of my wife getting them into school yesterday!
b
m
b

I saw Jimmy this afternoon at the mission. He won 3rd place at the State track meet. WOW! I’m so proud of him!
j

I spent over an hour talking with a young man who’s like a son to me. Tabias is a cook and I’ve been mentoring him on how to get a better job. With a little coaching, I think he can do really well.
t
Almost lost my mind working with Rahat trying to teach him some spelling words.
r
Who would know how hard it would be to learn “nectar” and “phase?” He did pretty well on most of the words.

You have no idea how lucky you are to be a native English speaker. Learning to spell English is a nightmare for foreigners. Rules of spelling? Yeah, right!

Watched my recordings of the Mentalist and Castle with Kathy this evening. Last weekend in NYC I spent time with probably the most successful mentalist in the USA. Super nice guy. My friends from England are great friends of his. Cool group to hang around with. They’re always showing me some trick that blows my mind!

I saw this sticker when I was at lunch.
s

I didn’t obey the sign. Oops. Only a pickle. Who could resist?

Admin! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 12:02 am

Spent most of the morning and early afternoon working on my financial report. Always takes several hours to write checks, figure out mileage, reimbursements, support for partners . . . then enter all the information into an Excel spreadsheet.

AWESOME to get back to the mission today!

Ashley came to help too! Super groovy!
a
Kids didn’t have too much homework, but we always seem to stay really busy.

Jesse is always super helpful. He was taking care of the outside kids.

Came home in the drizzling rain.

Back to admin work.

I’m glad I’m truly a mobile office guy. I pretty much keep up with all my email and phone calls even when I’m in the jungles of Costa Rica or the jungles of Wall Street!

Makes it a LOT easier to catch up since I don’t really get behind.

NYC!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:04 pm

Had a great time visiting with friends from England in New York!
t
k
You may remember that I was raised in the British school system as a child in Nairobi, Kenya. It was so much fun hanging out with my English buddies! Reminded me of being a kid again!
a

What a wonderful city!

My favorite times were spent at the Museum of Modern Art.
l
g

And Obscura, a place with antique oddities.
o

g

Also enjoyed going to the Hard Rock Cafe and seeing movie memorabilia!

Sure is great to be home!

Azalea! Window!

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:48 pm

Jesse and I went for a nice run today. Actually, I ran and he just walked fast. Guess that doesn’t say much for my speed.

Ashley, J and I went to Azalea to help the kids with their homework.

Did a lot of drilling on multiplication tables. And big adding!

Great to see my friends from upstairs at the mission!

ww
They got Ashley’s window fixed up great!

g

I took some binoculars to the mission for the kids to look through. They got a kick out of them!
e

After working at the mission, we went to the mall to look for some shoes for J. Didn’t find what we were looking for.

Big weather headed our way tonight. Yow!

K and I watched an old episode of House.

I’m getting ready for a short trip to NYC! Going up to visit friends of mine. My last break for a long time.

What’s wrong with this picture?
g

I liked the tiny shoe.

Norths! Newsletters! Destruction!

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:19 pm

Had an AWESOME day as Jesse, Kathy and I got to hang out for lunch with Ian and Ruthie North!
i
Don’t get no better!
t

Ian just got back from Nepal on his trek to the base camp of Everest! What a journey that was.

Ashley met us over at FBC Doraville and we knocked out writing the 155 newsletters for this month.
l
n

Always great to get that little job done!
n
Here’s a link to the newsletters!
NEWSLETTERS

J and I dropped the newsletters off then went over to help the kids at the mission.

As we pulled into the driveway at Azalea, Clinton ran over to greet me.

“Mr. Tim! Ashley’s car got broken into.”

I couldn’t believe my ears as her car had only been parked there at the mission for less than 20 minutes!

Apparently, a couple of the boys were throwing rocks, and one of them hit the window.

Never a good thing to throw rocks!

Our upstairs neighbor at the mission has a window repair business. I talked with him and he said he’d replace the window tomorrow afternoon while we’re working with the kids. That’s convenient.
Jesse and I swept up the glass. The fragments were like tiny cubic razor blades. Three of the kids got little scratches, including me.
s
It’s safe now.
We also went to Walmart to pick up some supplies for the mission–fans! Getting hot!
f

We helped the kids with their homework.
m
Most of the time I’ve been drilling them on their multiplication tables.
t
They have their CRCT tests this week so there’s not a lot of homework going on.
b
I took Joy over to the Game Stop to trade in his gameboy that got broken by another kid.

j
Glad he had the repair program!

A couple of the kids are going through confirmation at their church. We’re invited to the party!
i

Working on admin duties now.

Seems like I’ve been swamped for the last few days. Glad to have a lightened schedule.

Beautiful sunset.

Zamoras! Letters!

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:54 pm

Plenty of things to do! I woke up early to start getting the labels, stamps and envelopes ready for this month’s newsletter!

Takes a lot of time to get that out every month.

Jesse and I had a great time visiting with some of my favorite missionaries: Eduardo and Sheila Zamora!
z
It was so much fun to enjoy a delicious meal with them and talk about their mission experience.

Pray for the Zamoras as they continue to minister at Huntington Ridge.

Came home to pick up Ashley, then over to Azalea.
a
The kids helped us label the envelopes. Then we ate doughnuts.
m

m
a

After the sugar rush, we helped them with their homework.
a
I liked watching Nishi jump rope.
n

It’s Kathy’s birthday today! She’s such a sweetheart! We enjoyed watching “Wild Target” this evening. Great flick!

Seems like you’d have to loiter, just to read the sign.

This afternoon we had a party for Kathy. It’s her birthday Monday.

12 Stone at Olde Salem! Seder at Cowboy Church in Jerusalem!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:36 pm

Awesome day!

Worked on two new podcasts! Always fun. I have them recorded but not uploaded. Too much great stuff going on today!

Went to Olde Salem in Lawrenceville to work with one of my favorite teams: 12 Stone Church!
1

m

m
v
They did an awesome job working with the kids at the mission.
k

k

I really enjoy working with Brad Chahoy and Jon Lewis in particular. Two great go getters for Jesus!
b
The team had an Easter Egg hunt for the kids, food, games . . . even water balloons!

After the event, I went to lunch with Ashley and Miles. Groovy!
a
Then back to the house to pick up Kathy and Jesse. The whole family took a ride out to Jerusalem. Georgia, that is!

One of my partners is Rebecca Hampton. She’s the director of Cowboy Church! She’s doing an awesome job of reaching her neighbors for Jesus.
r

This evening we had Rabbi Gary Maxted perform the Messianic Seder.
g

Not sure if you know what that is, but it’s the meal that Jewish people take for Passover.
s

There are a variety of foods, each symbolize a particular part of the oppression and then release of the Israelites from Egypt.

The horseradish is the slavery along with the bitter herbs.

h
There’s also the matzah bread that symbolizes Israel leaving in a hurry.
m

The main symbol is the passover lamb which is seen as the unbroken shank bone.
s
We had a real lamb for the service.
l

Don’t get no cuter.

We each had to take a turn holding the lamb.

a
t

The kids at the Cowboy Church also did some interpretive dance to Easter music.
d

It was very powerful!
After the service, we had fun at the ranch petting the horses and enjoying the scenery.
