Tybee! Savannah!

Tim A. Cummins @ 6:55 pm

Had an awesome time with my sweet wife Kathy!

j
We took some time to visit the beach before the crowds descend on the island. Always great to see one of my favorite places in America!
b
k

t

I love seeing the dolphins!
d

Not crazy about seeing signs like this, however.
s

It’s my wish that when I die they scatter my ashes in Bonaventure Cemetery.
b
a
a

My favorite image of Jesus!
j

What an incredible place!

Love the historic district in Savannah. It’s one of the largest in America, and I think the best!

My favorite church in America: St. John the Baptist. Beauty!
j
g

This stained glass is in Masonic Lodge #1. First time I’ve ever been able to see inside!
m

River Street is awesome!
r

We rode our bikes 13 miles down this path that follows the old RR tracks that went to Tybee Island.
b

I had two flats the next day. Yow!

My favorite spot to sit is at the top of this lighthouse in one of the window sills.

178 steps up!

t

Incredible views from up here.
d
s
You can’t beat the sunsets at the beach!
s

This is over Lazaretto Creek.
l
Of course I’m always on the lookout for the unusual.

hmm
Hmmm.

h
Yeah. Like sharks.
m
The picture he drew of Daddy, didn’t include the heart. Kind of made me sad for Dad.
w
I like delicate small things.
I risked my life to take this picture for you!
s

Love lilies!

Easter Outreach!

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:28 pm

Woke up with my favorite bird tapping on the tree outside my window. Awesome!
w
Pileated Woodpecker. About the size of a crow!

Heavy rain last night. About 1 1/4″. Excellent!
r

Worked till about 1am last night. Finished up my bi-weekly financial report. Turned that into my treasurer this morning.
r

Took Jesse out to eat for breakfast. Can you tell where we went?
w

Ashley is working with Foothills Community Church this weekend. She took a team from there around the International Village this morning. I took her to eat lunch to Penang Restaurant. I was still full of waffles.

She loved the mango smoothie.
m

I liked the signage on this box.
e

Never too much Ashley!
a

We met up with the group from 12 Stone church who has been helping us at our missions in Chamblee. Terrific group!
12

Had a fun day today with my kids at Azalea!

Jesse and Ashley helped me with the outreach. Don’t get no better!
j
We tossed eggs. Collected eggs. Tossed eggs. Collected eggs. Little kids tossed eggs, collected eggs. Big kids tossed eggs, collected eggs.
m

v

e

You get the drift. We really don’t “hide” eggs per se. Just run around picking them up!

Then I gathered everyone up and shared the story of Easter and why Jesus had to come and die for us to take away our sins.
k
Many of the kids prayed along with me as we talked to Jesus and thanked Him for what he’d done for us!
f
The Muslim mothers seemed a bit uncomfortable with what I was saying, but overall seemed to have an good attitude about it. Thanks for your prayers for that!

We went to a “My Favorite Place” which is a flea market in Chamblee today. I got a really cool globe which is solid and has inlaid stones marking each country. An amazing antique!

Looked like Santa had too much egg nog!
s

I picked up a couple of pictures from the late 1890’s for $1!
v
p

Jesse picked up a framed Egyptian art piece that is handpainted on papyrus paper. Groovy!
j
Fortunately, I wasn’t too sore from the wood chip pile hauling yesterday! Of course we only did about 10% of it!

Kathy and I are going to visit Savannah/Tybee Island for a few days. Sure am glad to get to spend some extra time with her! I’ve learned I have to take a break whenever work slows down. It doesn’t stay like that for long!

Great day!

I liked this. I think I’m this to a lot of people.

h
I could also be the cause.

Joe! Party! Wood Pile!

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:31 pm

I had a fun day!
t
I was eating a hamburger at Red Robin for lunch and I heard “Startin’ Something” by Michael Jackson from Thriller. Not sure if you like that song or not but I think it rocks. As I was listening to the groove, I thought about where I was when I first heard that album.

I was with one of my best friends Joe Dickey and his girlfriend (now wife!) Beth Cottey. We were up in the mountains of Mexico in the little town of San Miguel de Allende. What a magical trip!

Got nostalgic and gave him a phone call. GREAT to connect with long time friends! He’s getting ready to take a trip with his family and his brothers and sisters to Tanzania. Awesome!

Spent some time at the bookstore. Always good. Lot of knowledge here!
b
Then over to Walmart & Party City to pick up supplies for our Easter Outreach in Chamblee tomorrow!
w

On my way home I saw this truck cutting up logs.

Been wanting to put some fresh wood chips in my garden and in particular where Jesse parks his car.

Got them to drop off the chips.
w
w
Then had my sweet children help me start spreading them!
a
a
j

It’ll be a project that they’ll finish up next week.
w
Now for admin duties including working on my Financial Report. Always something to do!

I picked up some surprises for the kids. I got a rabbit for Ashley. It was called “Miles the Bunny.” Ash’s boyfriend is named Miles.

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:11 pm

Had a fun day today with one of my favorite schools in America: Providence Christian Academy!

They seem to really be a terrific bunch of students, very intelligent and genuinely warm hearted.

I had fun sharing with two classes about our ministry in the International Village and how they can get involved.

I heard from my brother Marco Solano who had brain surgery yesterday. Everything went great! THANK you so much for praying for him. He’s really one of the good guys.

I took this picture of one of my favorite kids. Diego had been eating red cheetos.

Tim A. Cummins @ 7:47 pm

Had a good talk today with one of our supporters! Looks like God is calling him into full time ministry. Always great to hear that!

Been praying for my brother Marco Solano today. He went in for brain surgery. Please pray for Marco that his recovery will be complete!

J, Ashley and I went to Azalea this afternoon to help the kids with their homework.

Pileated Woodpecker! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:07 pm

About a 1/4″ of rain last night. Kinda gross looking.
r

Worked hard this morning! Mowed our grass. At least the front yard. Had a hard time getting the silly thing started.
g
Before J, K and I went to Azalea I saw this Pileated Woodpecker near my suet feeder.
w
Yesterday, I saw a couple of owls sitting in the tree near my window.

If I see a hummingbird tomorrow that’s my three favorite birds in a row! Super cool!

Helped the kids with their homework today. Glad to have Kathy with us!
j

s
s

Wasn’t as manic as yesterday.

Here’s one of the kid’s “monkey look.”
m

J and I went to Walmart to pick up some supplies.

Admin duties now!

Podcasts! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:33 pm

Mondays mean PODCASTS to me!

For over a year now, I’ve tried to record a couple of 20 minute podcasts every week. These are based on my Twitter updates. FYI, I have nearly 80,000 followers.

I am closely approaching 10,000 downloads of my material. Today I posted episodes 77 & 78.

I’m not sure if you even know what a podcast is. Basically, you click on the links below and hit PLAY.

They are motivational, inspirational and get with the program, baby” kind of stuff.

The first one this week is based on three of my favorite words: “Inspect, Detect, PROJECT!”

And another common theme in Verbal Surgery, “Start NOW!”

What better podcast to start on that that one?

And just in case you’re wondering, I produce, edit and upload both podcasts in less than an hour.
t

It’s the kind of forced creativity that I thrive on!

I took Kathy and Jesse out to eat lunch.
kj

I had strawberry cheesecake that made my mouth feel like I’d gone to heaven. Beauty!
c

Jesse and I had a crazy time at Azalea today. Packed with kids. Everyone needing help right now!!
j

a
f

Sure do love ’em. And my sweet ol’ son.

Came home and watched “The Social Network” with Kathy today. I’ve been on Facebook for about a year or so now. A tremendous program. It’s been AWESOME to track down great friends. Facebook made that happen.

This weekend I talked with my best friend from Junior High at Nairobi International School, Mark Wiley. Nearly 40 years have passed and I FINALLY got back in touch with him. Thanks to Facebook!

Great movie!

Sunrise BC!

Tim A. Cummins @ 5:38 pm

Had a great day today with some of my best friends Carl and Pat Barrington and their daughter Michelle!
b

They’ve been such great supporters of ours over the year and have really kept us moving in the right direction!

I spoke at Carl’s Sunday School Class along with Ashley and Kathy! The girls did great!
1

2
3

Also gave a brief greeting to the congregation. AMEN!

s

These young men made me feel welcome in the congregation.
c

I liked this banner! He does!
b

The Barringtons took us out for Thai food after church. Yumbo.

Please pray for my brother Marco Solano who’s in the hospital. They think he had a stroke but not sure. He’s a great guy and a terrific missionary.

Michael! Stone Mountain!

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:21 pm

I had fun showing Michael Rogers around the International Village today!
m
He’s bringing a team in from Crestview, Florida in July.

We had a good time visiting the Buford Highway Farmers Market. Always different stuff to see like this cactus and sugar cane!
c
s
Then seeing the missions where they’ll be going.

On my way home, I stopped at Stone Mountain. I enjoy walking around the park.
sm
What a beautiful day!

Kathy went to a wedding today. Glad we got to spend some time with her before she left.
k

She went with her sister, Ann!
a

Jesse and I had a good time together this evening. We went to Home Depot to get some dry erase boards. We actually cut up Tile Board into a bunch of pieces for the kids at the mission. GREAT idea from one of our volunteers.

Went to Office Depot to get dry erase markers.

Then to Walmart to pick up a few things. While we were leaving, a lady collapsed near us. I called 911, stayed on the phone with her and talked her through her asthma attack. Glad I was there to help!

Admin duties now. I get up early tomorrow to speak at Sunrise Baptist Church in Lawrenceville.

I liked this big ball.
b

Beautiful sunset!

Raccoon Mountain! Chattanooga!

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:53 pm

Kathy and I just got back from a great few days up in Raccoon Mountain!

Fantastic time enjoying the beautiful scenery.

We especially enjoyed climbing to the top of the mountain. Quite a hike and a great view!
r
rv

We hiked miles around Cloudland Canyon. Veddy, veddy beautiful!
w
tk
c

Beautiful clouds around the canyon!
c

Can you see the opalescence in the cirrus clouds?
o
It’s caused by light refraction in the ice crystals.

We also went to Chattanooga Zoo. Super cool stuff! It’s smaller than our zoo in Atlanta, but everything they have is really cool.

I liked the jaguars the best!
j
jj

I loved this chimpanzee. His name is Hank.
h

And the Tamarin monkeys.
t
Clouded leopard kitten was also super cool!
cl
I wanted to ride this camel. They wouldn’t let me.
c

We have owls in our back yard. I love to hoot to them.
o

I saw these Macaws in the trees of Costa Rica.
m

We love zoos!
k

On our way home we saw this! Yow!
t

Made me want to jump out and shoot video like when I worked for CBS. Kathy thought I was crazy. Guess you never really get that stuff out of your blood.

Other things I found interesting:

Millions of Girls would disagree.
m
Who would disagree with this? Perhaps your doctor.
f

Rocking causes death? Hmmmm.
r

Final thought.
