Newsletters! A&J! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:28 pm

This morning I worked on writing and producing my newsletter for this month. February is a short one, so we have to get an early start!

Had a great lunch with my sweet chilluns!
j
Can’t get enough of those two! Kathy was riding her bike the ten miles to Clarkston in lieu of lunch.

Metro Cafe Diner has pieces of cake nearly the size of my head! (No, I didn’t eat the whole thing! That’s a three day job.)
c

Jesse is helping me transfer my files from my old (really slow) computer and my new (hot patootie) desk top. I appreciate having a supergenius for a son! He built it!
j
I liked this egg!
J helped me with the kids at Azalea this afternoon. We were swamped with kids.
j

The parents try to help. Emphasis on “try.”
n
I took this picture of Rosybel so she could know what color her eyes are. When you ask the Latino kids for eye color know what they say?
r
“Black.”

They ask me, “What color are your eyes, Mr. Tim?”
I tell them, “Look really closely. See. They’re gold suns in a blue sky.” Sounds better than “Hazel.”

I showed the kids my newest toy. White people head. It’s made of styrofoam so I immediately ran it back to the car when the kids acted like they were going to stab it with a pencil.
w
No offense to white people. They’d stab anything that sat still long enough.

Barbara helps me teach the other kids reading.
b

Stayed late. Again. Good thing I love my job!

Enjoyed watching my recordings of House and Castle with K this evening, before diving back into admin duties.

I have a conference at Roswell United Methodist Church tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday. PLUS a group from 12 Stone Church also on Saturday.

And you wonder why I have little tolerance for people who tell me they’re “too busy.”

It’s all about desire, baby.

I liked the way this mirror was reflecting.
m

$5/Gallon gas!?? If that happens, I’d better start a mission near my house.

Podcasts! Bayo! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:34 pm

Worked on podcasts this morning. Always one of the highlights of my week.

Make sure you know where the bomb is before you light the fuse! A really interesting show about using emotions! “Light the Fuse!”

And something that I live my life by every day. “Success is a journey, not a destination!” Give “Success is a Journey” a test drive!

Jesse and Kathy and I went by Huntington Terraces to help Bayo with some computers for the children.
b
Always great to see this man of God!

We worked on labeling the newsletters today at the mission.
m
j

The kids are terrific helpers!

Then we helped them with their homework. They had a LOT. We finally got out of there around 7:30pm.
k

f

One of the Bengali families recently returned to the USA from Bangladesh. They brought Kathy a present!
k

What a beauty!

I liked this grill work. Maybe I should do this on my car?
g

Continuing the flame motif.
f
Not sure it fits on this van!!
v

Another beautiful sunset at the mission!

CIBC! Piccadilly buddies! Admin!

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:05 pm

This morning Kathy and I went to Clarkston International Bible Church. I like the logo.
l
Pastor Phil talked about being a deacon.
c
We brought in two new deacons today. Always a good thing.

Went to lunch at Piccadilly. I kept seeing people I knew! Two of my favorites from FBC Mountain Park pretty much always eat there after church on Sundays: Eddie Mayfield and his family and Doug Cox and his family!
d
Great guys!

Also saw Ellynda Lipsey who’s the pastor at St. Timothy’s UMC. She’s a good friend who is also a missionary kid.

Plus Paul Doverspike and his family! Lots of fun!

I liked this tag.

All SIX brothers and sisters! They rock!

Then over to Azalea to meet up with some groovy college students from 12 Stone Church–one of my favorite churches!

We had fun working with the kids at Azalea.

We also had a little ice cream and popcicle party! In the middle of February! AWESOME!
i
k
b

Then I took them around the International Village to show them the sights. Fun group!
g

Came home to rest and spend time with Kathy. She and Jesse have both been kind of sick. They’re both resting now. Pray for them!

I’m working on a big project for my partners at Perimeter. Lots of paper work!

Admin duties never end, they just get collated.

I liked this picture of my brother, Bill!
b

And Ashley’s toes and shoes!

Shopping! Carpet! King’s Speech!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:26 pm

Had a fun day today with really great weather! Is it really mid February?

Actually wore my flip flops! Suh weet!
ff

Spent the morning getting the house prepped for a carpet cleaning. Moved chairs and furniture to the deck and vacuumed.

Quick lunch and did the grocery shopping.
s
I enjoyed reading this book during lunch. I have fun showing kids this stuff.
b

Then supervised the carpet guy. He did just fine!
c
Ran about 2 1/4 miles. Felt good!

Then took Jesse and Kathy out for delicious Italian food at Provinos!
k

Saw some friends of mine from Pure Fun over there.
p
What a great group!

We watched The King’s Speech this evening.
k
What a GREAT movie! Highly recommend it to you. I’ve seen it and True Grit. I think the King’s Speech is better. Very inspiring!

Working on admin duties now. Oh, yeah!

I liked this bumper sticker.
s
And this horse picture! Yow!

Rob! Fellowship!Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:14 pm

Had a fun day today!

Met with my partner Rob Martin from Mobilizing Students.
u

They’ve been great at sending us team to work in the International Village!

Today was a perfect example of that as we had the leadership team from Fellowship Bible Church in Nashville, TN come to see our work! Great to meet new friends, Kaitlan, Ellen and Steve! Good people!
k
e
t

We had a great lunch of Mexican food at El Toreros. Caught up with Ian and Ruthie North while we were there.
i

They’ll be helping with the team when they come in June.

Then to N. Peachtree BC to check out their housing for the group of 80 middle schoolers!
j
Jonathon Carnes has been an terrific help in housing our teams at his church.
j

I always enjoy taking people around to show them the wild stuff in my area.

n

s

Lovely smile, eh?
s

Can’t beat a good octopus arm!
o
A sign you don’t see every day.
c
Of course this one is MUCH more common.
a
Got this shot at the Muslim book store on Jimmy Carter.
c
I don’t have to think too long to figure out the answer to this one.
k

Then to Azalea to help the kids with their homework. Sure was glad that Jesse was there to help!
t
j
I enjoy helping Kathy learn how to read. Her shirt is right. . . she is a sweetheart!
k

Finishing up admin duties.

Full moon!

Reboot! Managers! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:04 pm

This morning I picked up three computers for my partner Eduardo Zamora who works at Huntington Ridge. He’s putting together a terrific computer center for the residents with our help! Reboot is a great partner for helping with computers.
r

Had a good meeting with my apartment manager partners today at Sheltering Arms. Always good to see my friends. My partners at American Disposal Services provided lunch for the meeting and gave me the rest of the food to feed the kids at Azalea Place Apartments.
ad

THANKS for that!

Worked on admin duties at my office at FBC Doraville. Been working on my financial report and putting together all the documents for my 2010 taxes. I really hate doing all that stuff. I reckon I’m not alone!

Did a lot of work on planning for the teams coming to help me during Spring Break in March. I have to really get it organized since I won’t be in town then.

Walked around the FBC Doraville property with Pastor Bill Kelly.
b

I’ll have teams help do some service projects in March at the church.
d
Then over to Azalea to help the kids. Kathy, Jesse and Linda came to help. What a blessing!

f
I didn’t leave the mission till after 7pm last night. Man, I was pooped!

I liked these ivy leaves.

Trees! Perimeter! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 12:32 am

This morning I awoke to the sound of chainsaws!
t
Men are in my neighborhood trimming trees from power lines. I reckon that’s a good thing. They took down one tree to the ground. That’s life in the big city!

Had fun visiting with my partners from Perimeter Church this morning!
p

They have been one of my biggest supporters. I sure do love those guys!

Chip Sweeney has been with me since the very start of our ministry.
c
The longer I’ve been here (going on 15 years now!), the fewer those folks become!
o

p

Chelsea Sabo and her family have been great workers in our ministry! She’s the right stuff! Sure was sorry to hear that she’s not helping with the missions department.
c

Spent time in the office working on email duties. Figured I’d better do that since I’m working on my financial report next. I’ll probably get to bed around 1am. It’s a weigh of life!

Had a good time with the kids at the mission! They held up stickers that reminded them of me.

m

r
j

r

Got some pretty wacky answers as to why!

I took a new computer to a family at Azalea today! We’re in the blessing business!
c

Beautiful sunset!
ss

This evening the moon produced a muted circular rainbow in the upper level ice crystals. Can you see the colors? Art by God!

Podcasts! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:18 pm

This morning I worked on two new podcasts! Always fun!

Check out “The Will to GRIN!” A new favorite!

And a podcast that has changed my life! “Expect GREATNESS!” Worth a listen for an even better life!

Kathy and Jesse joined me at Azalea today. The kids were mighty sweet on Valentines Day!
m

j

t
k

Melissa practiced her reading with me.
m

She wanted me to see where her new tooth was coming in.
m

Jhan had a blue nose. It’s a mystery why.
j

I had a dream last night that I was in the mountains looking for rocks. I heard a mountain lion roar and ran for the car. Just before I got there the big cat jumped out. Who would save the day? Our little dog, Sugar!
s
Now you know I was dreaming!

Are you smarter than a 5th grader?

Chatta! Racoon Mtn! Ansel!

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:29 pm

K and I had a great time for our Valentine weekend! What a blessing to spend time with my sweety favorite!
k
On the way up to Tennessee, I noticed a billboard that said “Ansel Adams exhibition.” WOW! That guy is one of my heroes! Kathy was sweet enough to let me wander around the Booth Western Art Museum to my heart’s desire.

Later that weekend I experimented with B/W photography. I love shooting pictures!

We enjoyed walking around the hills of Chattanooga. I liked these houses.
c

h
hh

K and I hiked to the top of the hill overlooking Chattanooga. When we got there we saw this sign.
v

These dogs wanted to be our new best friends!
d
I’m pretty sure they’d lick a burglar to death.

I liked this wall.
w

And this fence made of old bikes.
b

I tried to play this. Rock and Roll! Well actually, Brick and Roll!
p

I reckon this is why we have such sweet, angelic children!
m

And of course my favorite place to hang out is Reflection Riding, just outside Lookout Valley. Awesome!
t
r

rr

I liked this hawk!
h

And these berries!
b

And this old log cabin!
c

Great to be back home. Looking forward to a fun week.

Never seen anything marked radioactive traveling on the highway before!
r

I’m pretty sure they do.
p

T
True dat!

I may look like this one day. It’s the logo for Hillbilly Willy BBQ.
w

Beautiful ending to the weekend!
