Azalea! Window!

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:48 pm

Jesse and I went for a nice run today. Actually, I ran and he just walked fast. Guess that doesn’t say much for my speed.

Ashley, J and I went to Azalea to help the kids with their homework.

Did a lot of drilling on multiplication tables. And big adding!
a

Great to see my friends from upstairs at the mission!
w
ww
They got Ashley’s window fixed up great!

g

I took some binoculars to the mission for the kids to look through. They got a kick out of them!
e

After working at the mission, we went to the mall to look for some shoes for J. Didn’t find what we were looking for.

Big weather headed our way tonight. Yow!

K and I watched an old episode of House.

I’m getting ready for a short trip to NYC! Going up to visit friends of mine. My last break for a long time.

What’s wrong with this picture?
g

I liked the tiny shoe.

Norths! Newsletters! Destruction!

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:19 pm

Had an AWESOME day as Jesse, Kathy and I got to hang out for lunch with Ian and Ruthie North!
i
Don’t get no better!
t

Ian just got back from Nepal on his trek to the base camp of Everest! What a journey that was.

Ashley met us over at FBC Doraville and we knocked out writing the 155 newsletters for this month.
l
n

Always great to get that little job done!
n
Here’s a link to the newsletters!
NEWSLETTERS

J and I dropped the newsletters off then went over to help the kids at the mission.

As we pulled into the driveway at Azalea, Clinton ran over to greet me.

“Mr. Tim! Ashley’s car got broken into.”

I couldn’t believe my ears as her car had only been parked there at the mission for less than 20 minutes!

Apparently, a couple of the boys were throwing rocks, and one of them hit the window.

Never a good thing to throw rocks!

Our upstairs neighbor at the mission has a window repair business. I talked with him and he said he’d replace the window tomorrow afternoon while we’re working with the kids. That’s convenient.
Jesse and I swept up the glass. The fragments were like tiny cubic razor blades. Three of the kids got little scratches, including me.
s
It’s safe now.
We also went to Walmart to pick up some supplies for the mission–fans! Getting hot!
f

We helped the kids with their homework.
m
Most of the time I’ve been drilling them on their multiplication tables.
t
They have their CRCT tests this week so there’s not a lot of homework going on.
b
I took Joy over to the Game Stop to trade in his gameboy that got broken by another kid.

j
Glad he had the repair program!

A couple of the kids are going through confirmation at their church. We’re invited to the party!
i

Working on admin duties now.

Seems like I’ve been swamped for the last few days. Glad to have a lightened schedule.

Beautiful sunset.
s
Dang telephone pole.

Here’s my philosophy of life in a nutshell.

Zamoras! Letters!

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:54 pm

Plenty of things to do! I woke up early to start getting the labels, stamps and envelopes ready for this month’s newsletter!

Takes a lot of time to get that out every month.

Jesse and I had a great time visiting with some of my favorite missionaries: Eduardo and Sheila Zamora!
z
It was so much fun to enjoy a delicious meal with them and talk about their mission experience.

Pray for the Zamoras as they continue to minister at Huntington Ridge.

Came home to pick up Ashley, then over to Azalea.
a
The kids helped us label the envelopes. Then we ate doughnuts.

After the sugar rush, we helped them with their homework.

I liked watching Nishi jump rope.
n

It’s Kathy’s birthday today! She’s such a sweetheart! We enjoyed watching “Wild Target” this evening. Great flick!

Seems like you’d have to loiter, just to read the sign.

12 Stone at Olde Salem! Seder at Cowboy Church in Jerusalem!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:36 pm

Awesome day!

Worked on two new podcasts! Always fun. I have them recorded but not uploaded. Too much great stuff going on today!

Went to Olde Salem in Lawrenceville to work with one of my favorite teams: 12 Stone Church!

They did an awesome job working with the kids at the mission.

I really enjoy working with Brad Chahoy and Jon Lewis in particular. Two great go getters for Jesus!
b
The team had an Easter Egg hunt for the kids, food, games . . . even water balloons!

After the event, I went to lunch with Ashley and Miles. Groovy!
a
Then back to the house to pick up Kathy and Jesse. The whole family took a ride out to Jerusalem. Georgia, that is!

One of my partners is Rebecca Hampton. She’s the director of Cowboy Church! She’s doing an awesome job of reaching her neighbors for Jesus.
r

This evening we had Rabbi Gary Maxted perform the Messianic Seder.
g

Not sure if you know what that is, but it’s the meal that Jewish people take for Passover.
s

There are a variety of foods, each symbolize a particular part of the oppression and then release of the Israelites from Egypt.

The horseradish is the slavery along with the bitter herbs.

h
There’s also the matzah bread that symbolizes Israel leaving in a hurry.
m

The main symbol is the passover lamb which is seen as the unbroken shank bone.
s
We had a real lamb for the service.
l

Don’t get no cuter.

We each had to take a turn holding the lamb.

a
t

The kids at the Cowboy Church also did some interpretive dance to Easter music.
d

It was very powerful!
After the service, we had fun at the ranch petting the horses and enjoying the scenery.

Tybee! Savannah!

Tim A. Cummins @ 6:55 pm

Had an awesome time with my sweet wife Kathy!

j
We took some time to visit the beach before the crowds descend on the island. Always great to see one of my favorite places in America!
b
k

t

I love seeing the dolphins!
d

Not crazy about seeing signs like this, however.
s

It’s my wish that when I die they scatter my ashes in Bonaventure Cemetery.
b
a
a

My favorite image of Jesus!
j

What an incredible place!

Love the historic district in Savannah. It’s one of the largest in America, and I think the best!

My favorite church in America: St. John the Baptist. Beauty!
j
g

This stained glass is in Masonic Lodge #1. First time I’ve ever been able to see inside!
m

River Street is awesome!
r

We rode our bikes 13 miles down this path that follows the old RR tracks that went to Tybee Island.
b

I had two flats the next day. Yow!

My favorite spot to sit is at the top of this lighthouse in one of the window sills.

178 steps up!

Incredible views from up here.

You can’t beat the sunsets at the beach!

This is over Lazaretto Creek.
l
Of course I’m always on the lookout for the unusual.

hmm
Hmmm.

h
Yeah. Like sharks.
m
The picture he drew of Daddy, didn’t include the heart. Kind of made me sad for Dad.
w
I like delicate small things.
I risked my life to take this picture for you!
s

Love lilies!

Easter Outreach!

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:28 pm

Woke up with my favorite bird tapping on the tree outside my window. Awesome!
w
Pileated Woodpecker. About the size of a crow!

Heavy rain last night. About 1 1/4″. Excellent!
r

Worked till about 1am last night. Finished up my bi-weekly financial report. Turned that into my treasurer this morning.
r

Took Jesse out to eat for breakfast. Can you tell where we went?
w

Ashley is working with Foothills Community Church this weekend. She took a team from there around the International Village this morning. I took her to eat lunch to Penang Restaurant. I was still full of waffles.

She loved the mango smoothie.
m

I liked the signage on this box.
e

Never too much Ashley!
a

We met up with the group from 12 Stone church who has been helping us at our missions in Chamblee. Terrific group!
12

Had a fun day today with my kids at Azalea!

Jesse and Ashley helped me with the outreach. Don’t get no better!
j
We tossed eggs. Collected eggs. Tossed eggs. Collected eggs. Little kids tossed eggs, collected eggs. Big kids tossed eggs, collected eggs.
m

v

e

You get the drift. We really don’t “hide” eggs per se. Just run around picking them up!

Then I gathered everyone up and shared the story of Easter and why Jesus had to come and die for us to take away our sins.
k
Many of the kids prayed along with me as we talked to Jesus and thanked Him for what he’d done for us!
f
The Muslim mothers seemed a bit uncomfortable with what I was saying, but overall seemed to have an good attitude about it. Thanks for your prayers for that!

We went to a “My Favorite Place” which is a flea market in Chamblee today. I got a really cool globe which is solid and has inlaid stones marking each country. An amazing antique!

Looked like Santa had too much egg nog!
s

I picked up a couple of pictures from the late 1890’s for $1!
v
p

Jesse picked up a framed Egyptian art piece that is handpainted on papyrus paper. Groovy!
j
Fortunately, I wasn’t too sore from the wood chip pile hauling yesterday! Of course we only did about 10% of it!

Kathy and I are going to visit Savannah/Tybee Island for a few days. Sure am glad to get to spend some extra time with her! I’ve learned I have to take a break whenever work slows down. It doesn’t stay like that for long!

Great day!

I liked this. I think I’m this to a lot of people.

h
I could also be the cause.

Joe! Party! Wood Pile!

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:31 pm

I had a fun day!
t
I was eating a hamburger at Red Robin for lunch and I heard “Startin’ Something” by Michael Jackson from Thriller. Not sure if you like that song or not but I think it rocks. As I was listening to the groove, I thought about where I was when I first heard that album.

I was with one of my best friends Joe Dickey and his girlfriend (now wife!) Beth Cottey. We were up in the mountains of Mexico in the little town of San Miguel de Allende. What a magical trip!

Got nostalgic and gave him a phone call. GREAT to connect with long time friends! He’s getting ready to take a trip with his family and his brothers and sisters to Tanzania. Awesome!

Spent some time at the bookstore. Always good. Lot of knowledge here!
b
Then over to Walmart & Party City to pick up supplies for our Easter Outreach in Chamblee tomorrow!
w

On my way home I saw this truck cutting up logs.

Been wanting to put some fresh wood chips in my garden and in particular where Jesse parks his car.

Got them to drop off the chips.
w
w
Then had my sweet children help me start spreading them!
a
a
j

It’ll be a project that they’ll finish up next week.
w
Now for admin duties including working on my Financial Report. Always something to do!

I picked up some surprises for the kids. I got a rabbit for Ashley. It was called “Miles the Bunny.” Ash’s boyfriend is named Miles.

Providence! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:11 pm

Had a fun day today with one of my favorite schools in America: Providence Christian Academy!
p
They seem to really be a terrific bunch of students, very intelligent and genuinely warm hearted.

I had fun sharing with two classes about our ministry in the International Village and how they can get involved.

p

c

b

Came home and rested for a bit then back to Azalea with Kathy, Ashley and Jesse.

Had some great helpers today including my partners Nita and another NAMB missionary Joe Scott. Always awesome to have help.

j

The girls wrote letters and drew pictures for a team from NC.
n
b

m

I’m getting ready for our big Easter Outreach on Saturday. Looking forward to that!

I heard from my brother Marco Solano who had brain surgery yesterday. Everything went great! THANK you so much for praying for him. He’s really one of the good guys.

I took this picture of one of my favorite kids. Diego had been eating red cheetos.

Addition! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 7:47 pm

Had a good talk today with one of our supporters! Looks like God is calling him into full time ministry. Always great to hear that!

Been praying for my brother Marco Solano today. He went in for brain surgery. Please pray for Marco that his recovery will be complete!

J, Ashley and I went to Azalea this afternoon to help the kids with their homework.
