Toronto! May 9-14.19

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:47 pm

I had a great trip to Toronto visiting with my buddy Anthony Jacquin, and his dad Freddy. Enjoyed the conference hosted by Mike Mandel and Chris Thompson.

Mike and Chris picked us up from the airport. Went to the CN tower that evening. Fantastic views and something really special.

Above the clouds!

Pretty bad weather the whole time. Rainy and in the 40s and low 50s

I continued to study Spanish everyday, although the streak with working with the Muse was broken. Got to sleep late every night.

I went with the Jacquin to see Niagra Falls. Impressive!

Freddy is great fun, too!

We went downstairs to see behind the falls. Wow!

Toronto is a beautiful place! I loved the architecture.

We went to Chinatown to see the graffiti.

Loved the food!

Lots of cool stuff to see.

Freddy and Anthony did a great job at the conference.

This is where I lived. 57 Gloucester. It was near the University of Toronto where the conference was held.

One of the interesting things is that they had toilet seats that were warm!

This was just a few houses down.

One morning there was a race going on. They weren’t going too fast.

The flowers were just now blooming.

Anthony and I ate at Frans a couple of morning. Excellent!

We ate at a Mexican restaurant called Pancho Villas. It was terrific.

Overall, one of the best trips I’ve ever been on.

Good times.

Jesse! Mission! Rockbridge! 5.8.19

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:49 pm

Sleep!

Brain Training!

Español!

Fun lunch with Jesse! We ate one of the new vegetarian “Impossible Burgers.” It was excellent.

Prep for my trip to Canada includes studying what the weather is going to be like. Cold.

Went to the church to pick up a couple of my shirts to wear for the conference.

Also checked the mail while I was there.

Went to the mission to help the kids with their homework. And of course to get some loving from the Grandgirls!

Research for my flight on Thursday.

After Azalea, I went to Rockbridge BC to speak to their Youth Group. Fun! I talked to them about the difference between Works and Grace religion and gave them my Four Secrets of Life presentation.

Last minute prep for my trip.

My brain gets super revved up for these trips, especially when I’m getting up earlier than normal, around 7:00 am.

Jacquins! Gifts! Mission! Girls! 5.7.19

Sleep!

I continue Brain Training. On a roll.

Released Verbal Surgery -659- “Trust in the Wind.”

Although I have not been able to become completely aware that I’m dreaming when I’m dreaming, (a state called Lucid Dreaming), I have in the last month recorded over 100 of my dreams which has been absolutely fascinating. I’ll keep trying to crack this awareness barrier, but I’m not obsessed with it. I just find it fun to see what goes on when I’m sleeping.

Had fun conversations with Freddy and his son, and my best friend, Anthony Jacquin today. Really looking forward to seeing them in Toronto on Thursday!

While I was at Evergreen Lakes, I saw a family of geese mowing the lawn.

Ate huevos rancheros at Taco Veloz today.

I studied Spanish while I waited for my food. Makes sense.

Also read more of the 4 Hour Work Week, by Tim Ferris.

Enjoyed helping the kids with their homework.

And of course hanging out with the ever delightful grandgirls.
Penelope wanted to show me her new winter coat. Beauty!

I took the girls to Walmart to get shoes. While we were there I saw my good friend Tabias. He lost his Mom recently. Love that guy!

Went to Plaza Fiesta to check on a t-shirt of Anthony. Saw these creepy dolls heads while I was there.

Picked up checks from FBC Doraville and deposited them at the bank.

I also went to China Town to talk to my friend who runs the bookstore there. I told her about the teams coming. She said that my wife had talked about our schedule to her already. I said, “That’s not my wife, that’s my daughter.” She was astonished. I said, “Her husband looks like a male model. Certainly not like me!” She said, “Then you have grandchildren?” “Two of the best!” She just shook her head. Not the first time that’s happened. It always weirds me out.

Beautiful colored clouds.

I’m going to let Ash & Miles use my car while I’m in Canada. I’ll ride the MARTA to the airport. It’ll help them out since the Jesse’s old car, the Nissan Altima (which had nearly 300,000 miles!) finally died. It certainly helped our families out a LOT!

Gassed up my car.

Took the trash/recycle out.

Paid off my Mastercard bill. I always feel proud when I can say I have zero debt.

I’ll spend some time wrapping stuff in a moment.

Bob, Ann & Katie! 5.6.19

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:55 pm

Very stressful day today.

Tried my best to help some dear friends. I gave it my best effort. Sometimes we don’t get the results that we want, or that we think is needed.

But we can’t worry about what we can’t do, we just do everything we can do. Leave the rest to the Lord.

During some of the times I was waiting, I worked on Spanish.

The new moon.

Perhaps a day for new beginnings in a very difficult, some would say, “No Win” situation.

Admin duties now. Exhausted.

I was glad that I’ve spent as much time as I have Brain Training.

Coins! Candy! Bike! 5.5.19

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:39 pm

I overslept this morning. Happens. Didn’t make Church.

Brain Training and Español.

My coffee maker wasn’t acting right this morning. Had to go get my kahawa from QT.

Later this afternoon, I completely cleaned it out and discovered a tea bag that was clogging the drain into the heater part. Fixed!

Went to a coin show in Marietta to get some ancient coins for my friends in Canada. It wasn’t this show, but you get the idea!

I’m reading Tim Ferris’ book “4 Hour Work Week.” Some interesting points.

One of the interesting ideas he posits is that the opposite of happiness is boredom. Viktor Frankl said a similar thing.

After the coin show, I went to Sabor do Brazil. Got to practice a little Portuguese.

I like to take lots of small gifts for the people that I’ll get to meet in Toronto. One of my favorites is candy from different countries. I’ll wrap up pieces individually and give them to people I like. On this trip, I’ll also have small pieces of zebra skin, small meteorites and red thread from the Holy Land. People are astonished by stuff like that!

Went by FBC Doraville to check on the mail.

Also took a quick stop at Hoa Da to see my friend Dr. Nguyen. We’ll be bringing teams over there soon!

To the bank to deposit checks. Amen!

Walmart for groceries.

There were three cop cars to cover this accident. How does someone run into a big yellow pole? Ay, caramba!

I decided to learn the Hebrew version of our alphabet! Right to left.

Went for a 14.85 mile bike ride. Not sure why it gives me different distances when I ride almost exactly the same trail! I went slower on purpose today. When your heart rate is slower, you burn fat, but it’s not a cardio workout.

I’ve really enjoyed my bike. So much better for me than running.

I told Ashley I was, “half up.”

Had fun this evening coloring this picture.

Watered my green friends. My plants are really flowering!

Podcast! Rain! Bike! Email! 4.4.19

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:14 pm

May the FOURTH be with you! Woot!

Sleep!

Brain Training!
Español!

I’ve started subscribing to Dulingo PLUS. It lets me test out of each of the categories which lets me make much faster progress in the lower levels. Duolingo just added nearly 60 start from zero levels which are easy for me. So instead of having to do four separate lessons I do one test and move onto the next material.

Getting ready for my trip to Toronto! I leave on Thursday. Woot! I’m going to a conference where Anthony Jacquin and his dad Freddy will be teaching. It’ll be very informative and a lot of fun. Anthony is my best friend. We stay in regular contact.

I recorded a new episode of Verbal Surgery called “Inquiriam.” Asking questions is an important skill!

While I was at my recording spot it just poured down!

Finished reading What Doesn’t Kill Us by Scott Carney. It’s based on the “Iceman” Wim Hof. I found it absolutely fascinating! I took a short break from writing this blog to search Scott’s contact info. Just sent him an email. I like to reach out to people when I like their work!

I’m fascinated by my birthday. July 12th has MANY famous people’s start! Julius Caesar is one! Whenever I get to a museum that has a section on Rome, I always look for everything I can about him. Here is a 3D picture based on his sculptures and paintings. Pretty cool!

As I mentioned earlier, I’m on Safari to Toronto on Thursday. Part of my research is the weather. I thought it was interesting all the places that I’ve been that I keep track of.

Went for a 15.03 mile bike ride. It’s starting to warm up. I got pretty sweaty!

I stopped at the park to refill my water bottle. A small shaft of sunlight was lighting up the water meter. Everything else was in complete shade. It reminded me of churches where at certain times of the year a picture or holy place will be lit up.

Tremendous rainstorm, but didn’t generate that much water, less than 1/2″.

I was pretty surprised how fast the roads dried up. Glad I got my exercise in!
After I got home, I took my bike rack off my car and also pumped up the tires on my bike. The tires were about twenty pounds low. My guess is I didn’t really look at what the PSI rating was on the tires, I just squeezed them! They are rated from 40-65 PSI. I filled them both to 50 PSI.

Got a shower (still doing cold showers! It’ll be a month on Friday. I’ve gotten to really enjoy them. Crazy, eh?) then worked on an email to my subscriber list. The last month, I’ve started to really accelerate that. One week is my newsletter. This week is Ashley’s newsletter. Next week will be a couple of links to my podcast, Verbal Surgery, and the last week will be a chapter from my new book, Story Tim. I have over 900 people on that list.

Grandgirls! Bike! 5.3.19 Podcast!

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:56 pm

Sleep!

Normally, I practice Brain Training and Español in the morning. I slept too late and chose to be on time to help Ashley with the Grandgirls! I caught up on Spanish this afternoon while the girls were napping.

The girls are always so much fun!

Took them for lunch to the Downwind restaurant at PDK airport. Then to the park to watch the planes!

Penelope was making a tire angel. The black stuff is shredded tires. Man, did she ever get dirty!

It’s a fun little park.

I was shocked by how intrepid Everly is. She climbed straight up this ladder!

Everly is heavenly.

After Ashley came home to be with the grandgirls, I went to FBC Doraville to check on the mail.

I agree!

Went to Aztec Cycles to pick up my bike, “Black Beauty.”

I got the bottom bracket replaced. It rode great!

I also got new handle grips. My old ones were completely worn out.

I still cover them with terry cloth. I like the feel better than the rubber. Especially when my hands get really sweaty.
Bringing her back home!

Definitely the best bike I’ve every owned. She’s slightly smaller than Jesse’s bike that I rode the last couple of days.

Rode 15.07 miles today.

I love that it stays light so long.

Please! Although “my” road is normally the sidewalk. The cars just don’t seem to be paying enough attention.

The clouds are starting to billow!

I listened to a lot of Spanish radio today.

It’s starting to get warm, which means that at the close of every day I use hand sanitizer to kill all the germs on my hat band.

That keeps my forehead smelling fresh!

Podcast! Newsletter! Mission! Bike! 5.1.19

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:30 pm

Sleep! You can see I’m up for about an hour between 3:00am and 4:00am. Powerful prayer time for me.

Brain Training. Keep on, keeping on.

Español!

My longest streak was when I was studying Portuguese: 282.
Still doing research of my heart monitor and what heart rate I should be going at. Sometimes I really work hard, which is a cardio workout. Other times I don’t push so hard which burns fat.

Anthony had been at the funeral of his Mom’s older brother today. He read a poem.

Recorded an episode of Verbal Surgery called, “Leap Fog.” Good one!

Went to the Post Office to get stamps for the newsletters.

I always try to get interesting stamps. The kids enjoy looking at the “stickers.”

Went by FBC Doraville to check on the mail and pick up Ashley’s newsletter.

I took over watching the Grandgirls at about 3pm. That gave Kathy a chance to beat the traffic going home.

Helped the kids with their homework.

Also worked on labeling the envelopes. The kids enjoy helping.

Remember having to do stuff like this?

I got some digging toys at the Dollar Tree yesterday. The kids had fun making mud pies.

Got the letters in the mail under the 5:00pm deadline! Yeah! I don’t really get too uptight about it. I always say, “The world’s not going to end if they’re a couple of days late.”

I always bring a couple of dozen doughnuts after we’ve finished that chore. Everyone gets a doughnut, but the kids that help get to choose what kind they want and I go get ’em!

I probably get a least seven different types!
I went by Rockbridge BC to talk to the chairman of my board, Pastor Bill Cordrey. I dropped off a check for my mileage reimbursement. I’m getting ready to pay off my Master Card bill and need all those checks!

I got gas on the way home at the Speedway on 29/Harmony Grove. That’s about .15 cents cheaper than any other place I see in the ATL.

One of my duties is to keep Ashley’s vacuum cleaner in good working order. Takes me about ten minutes to blow it out and wash all the filters. Then it really works great! Having all the tools nearby really speeds up the job.

Astonishing how gross this stuff was before I got after them.

Caught and released squirrel #56 today. I don’t think it will ever end.

I used Kathy/Jesse’s bike today for my ride. This is a road bike as opposed to mine which is a hybrid mountain/road bike. My bike has about double the thickness wheels but not as thick as a pure mountain bike. I went up everything and never had to leave third gear. Astonishing.

She didn’t like riding on the sidewalks, though. No problem for my bike. But on the road, I was going almost as fast as cars.
To give you an idea, I have to bike about 4 miles in order to burn off the ONE doughnut I ate. Ay, caramba.

Watched some of the Bob Barr testimony before Congress today. He’s a cool customer for sure.

Grandgirls! Mission! 4.30.19

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:32 pm

I’m enjoying reading this book on Lucid Dreaming.

Sleep!

Brain Training!

I got this new bird feeder for our bathroom window.

Español!

Transported Squirrel #55.

I took my bike in to be worked on. The bottom bracket was worn out. I’ve had this bike for at least 15 years, so I guess that’s not bad!

These guys do great work!

Great time with the Grandgirls today! They are so much fun! Everly reminds me of me.

Penelope is so groovy, baby.

Typical overdoer. Gotta love the Dollar Tree!

Helped the kids with their homework.

Everly was living large.

Penelope got a medical kit. She was being the patient here.

Everyone got into the digging toys.

She was tuckered out.

Hilarious.

Penelope fell asleep about an hour and a half later.

Deposited checks on the way home.

Mileage.
