Got this message from our neighborhood watch. I like it.
I downloaded a new language app called Unedo. It has puzzles in Spanish plus articles about Latino heritage. After you’ve listened and read the article they have questions on what you’ve learned. It’s pretty hard. What I need.
We got a big box last night from Vietnam: Nana’s new vanity! I also received a smaller box which was a table for her refrigerator. I built the table and put the fridge on it.
Then I opened the big box and sorted all the pieces. Took me twenty minutes. Hundreds of screws!
SO GLAD that I had Jessi to help. She’s great with complicated instructions. Even with her help, it took about four hours to put it together.
Great to see it coming together!
Love you, Jessi!
I’ll come in third place this week.

K helped me get the Honda to her sister Ann’s house. She has a garage that isn’t being used. That’ll keep my car safe and out of the weather. She’ll be my back up car now. My Mom’s car has about 30,000 miles on it. The Honda has 170,000.
I got the Texas sticker off the Lincoln this afternoon.
I talked to the girls about going to Six Flags this Summer and they didn’t want to go. When I asked them today, they made it sound like I had never broached the subject! We’ll go on September 14.
Penelope is learning cursive. I told her she shouldn’t be cursing.
K and I picked up the girls from the bus and took them to Waffle House. They like to race there.
Sent Anthony a note in Portuguese (with the help of AI). He’s in Brazil now.
Español!
Took Mom to the Doctor. They really didn’t do anything. We were disappointed. She has to go back in two months for the real evaluation. She’ll be even better then!
Everly and I went to Azalea to help the kids with their homework. E forgot her backpack at home. She’s ahead so it wasn’t a problem.
Every day.

Whenever I get a new car, one of the first things that I do is get a hide-a-key.
Vobulario!
OYB!
Came in third place last week as I predicted.
Cleaned, refilled, and replaced the hummingbird feeders.
My big job for today was unpacking the Lincoln.
K got her first experience driving the new car. She really liked it. It does take some getting used to. One of the weirdest things was how there is no noise when you start the car. We are used to combustion engines. We aren’t sure it’s running if we don’t hear something.
Picked up the girls and took them to Taco Veloz.
Everly asked me what the picture is above the mission. Can you tell?
If you zoom in on the picture, you may realize that it’s something upside down.
Helped the kids at the mission.
I let the kids check out my new car.
I had a discussion with the PT supervisor for my Mom. We discussed extending the physical therapy for a while longer. Mom has a meeting with her Primary Care Physician tomorrow. That’s what insurance calls them.
I just got home from a trip to Georgetown, Texas! My brother Jim picked me up on Friday afternoon at the airport. He also dropped off his wife’s sister and her husband. We went to my Mom’s house first and I started packing more stuff into my Mom’s car.
We visited with Jodie Steger and her husband Charlie. We had a good chat and I prayed with him. He’s not doing well. Then went to Jim’s apartment. We had a terrific time talking about the old days and what we’re dealing with in life and in our children’s lives.
Went to my Mom’s house to pick up a few more things that we wanted Saturday morning. Then headed north towards Dallas before turning east to Vicksburg. I spent the night at the Best Western there.
Then back on the road Sunday morning about 9: 30 AM after eating a hot breakfast. I rolled into Stone Mountain driveway around 6:00 PM. That was about 1,000 miles. I brought some cool things home with me.
Because of the long days driving, I didn’t work on Duolingo as much. I’ll still come in third this week. I listened to Don Cheto for at least ten hours. There is no substitute for practice. It just takes time to pick out more and more words faster and faster.
Filled out a form for my Mom.
I got gas five times but, I always refill while there is around 1/4 still in the tank.
Can you believe it actually stopped at exactly $20.00? I didn’t do that.
Did trip prep deciding which way I’m going to travel. I decided on going straight to Dallas from Georgetown then to Atlanta rather than going a slightly shorter route cross country and having few towns and not much cell signal. I did that once and got stuck bringing a car back from Texas to Georgia. There’s definitely a level of stress when making a 1,000 mile trip. Especially with a car I don’t really know. It performed great when I went to Waco last fall.
OYB!
Cool mushrooms.
Confirmed a doctor’s visit for my Mom.
Español!
Did the laundry.
Confirmed my flight to Austin tomorrow. I’ll be staying at my brother Jim’s apartment Friday evening.
Ordered groceries.
K and I picked up the girls and took them to Pho 24 for Vietnamese food.
Helped the kids at the mission. So much homework.
Thunderstorms blow through nearly every evening. Extremely localized. We can watch them rage just a few miles away and not get a drop.
Got gas and checked the oil.
Picked up the groceries and put them up
Don’t stop.

Set up my table and started getting my stuff together for my trip to Texas to get my Mom’s car. I’m only traveling with a back pack. I leave flying Delta on Monday at 12:30 PM. K will take me to the Marta station at Indian Creek.

I sent an email to the office manager of my Mom’s eye doctor with her files from Texas.
I talked with Russell this morning about his church coming to work with me.
Fun talk with my buddy, Anthony.
Didn’t feel as hot today.
K and I took the grandgirls to Taco Veloz. So good. Everly liked stacking the little cups.
Worked with a lot of kids today with tons of homework. C’est la vie, baby.
After I put up the chairs and table, I pick up trash on the way to the dumpster.
I pushed the “30 minutes of XP” button on Duolingo by mistake this evening. I had planned to use that tomorrow morning. Bahd luck. I’ll probably still come in third even without that extra 1,800 extra points I would have earned in that time frame.
My camera lens cover didn’t retract fully this afternoon. Time for a cleaning and light oiling, which I did. I used Q-tips and synthetic bike chain lubricant. Just the lightest coating on a Q-tip on the moving parts and then a dry Q-tip to dry it off. Just the lightest glaze is about right.
I also cleaned the lens.
