It was a special Sunday because they were almost ready to retire the note of the money they borrowed to build the education building and gym.

A special prayer time at the altar.

Came home to rest and work on the newsletter for this month.

Enjoyed a restful day.

t

It was hot. Decided not to run.
s

Worked in the garden.
d

Enjoyed time with K. We watched Perception.

Saturday I went to the Dream Cars exhibit at the High Museum of art. I love being in downtown Atlanta.

Podcast! Recon! Mission!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:08 pm

Fun time this morning!
t
Recorded a new podcast!
r
Are you a good multitasker? Did you know that that’s not really possible? We can only focus on one thing at a time well. Gain more focus with Mrs. Direction. Just click on the title and groove!

Met up with Ashley for lunch at Perimeter Mall.
p
Just up the street from Dunwoody Baptist Church, which was our first assignment.
s
GREAT to see my good friend Mark Paul.
m
He’s hilarious.

They have a lot going on there.
d

Then to Peachtree Corners Baptist Church.
s
They have supported my ministry for over 17 years. We’re working on mobilizing more of them.

Also enjoyed visiting with my friends Debra and Jacquie at Perimeter Church. Two more wonderful partners!
j

Always great to have more time with Ashley. Thursday is my favorite day of the week. That’s when we do church recon in different areas.

Worked with the kids at the mission. Always fun and interesting. It’s rewarding to help kids that WANT to be helped.
a

Enjoyed watching Royal Pains with Kathy this evening.

Run! Mission! Brookhaven!

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:06 pm

More than a 1/4″ of rain yesterday. Always good.
r

Had a restful morning until I ran. Pretty warm outside. Heat Index was 102 because of the extraordinary humidity. Still beautiful! 5.07 miles.

o

The crepe myrtle has been spectacular this year.
c

These reminded me of waterfalls.
d
Very different type of pine cone from the ones near my house.
p

Came home. Cooled off. Ate a sandwich. Then off to the mission! Man, the place has been busy. My wife has said that I “tolerate chaos better than anyone I know.” I will literally be dealing with six children all of them asking me questions at the same time. I feel like Google.
s

Enjoyed a fun supper with Ian and Ruthie North and Jesse!
i

Brookhaven has a food truck Wednesdays. We ate at Ibizas and got coconut chicken. I liked it.

Came home to work on admin duties. Always something.

Downloaded a new book on Audible. Ready Player One. Jesse really liked it so I’m really looking forward to it.

I like the sound of this.
d

Order up!

Put new batteries and reprogrammed my meteorological station.
d
Almost exactly an inch of rain.
r

Took a check to be signed by my treasurer.
t
Cleaned the carpets today at my house!

Got down on my knees to scrub the spots. I was using a sprayer, but found it was better with a rag that I could soak in the little container of oxyclean.

x

Then got the carpet cleaning machine and did the house.
d

Enjoyed working at the mission today.

r
Miles came to help too!
s
s
a
Jesse, Kathy and some of the kids took the ALS bucket challenge!
d
s

We went to Penang for dinner with the Ian and Ruthie North! Great to spend time with them! Never too much Ashley and Miles! And my sweet wife Kathy and beloved Jesse were there too. A good time was had by all.

s
s
s
s
b
s

Kinda hot though.

I like my new hibiscus planters.

s

Worked with Ashley and Jesse at the mission. Lot of homework. I’ve been quite surprised by how much homework for the first week!
s
s
s
s

One of the projects we worked on was a show and tell about yourself. I took pictures of them and with their family for the poster.
s
They also told 8 Fascinating Facts and a list of everything that they liked.

I taught Julie how to hold a pencil and start writing the letter A. Haven’t done that in a while.
s

As I was on my way home from the mission, Kathy told me about the big storm in our neighborhood that knocked out the lights. Sure enough, near our house I saw where this tree had fallen on the wires.
d

I found it interesting watching the men string new wire and tie it into the system.
d

Power was out for about 5 hours from 6:30 to 11:30pm. My room by candle light.
x

It was kind of interesting being so quiet and dark in the neighborhood.

Sometimes the mistakes turn out to be the coolest shots.

Yard! Cleaning!

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:31 pm

Saturday I worked on my yard.
m
s
I mowed almost the whole 1/2 acre.
y

Also took the bricks out from around the mail box. I’m going with to large pots with hibiscus in them instead. Those bricks were too hard to mow around.

Two years ago Jesse and I drilled holes and put mushroom spore into this oak tree that had died.
s
I finally seeing something that looks like mushroom growth.
s

Went to see Expendables III. What a disappointment.
s

K and I watched All is Lost. Pretty good.

Sunday morning I worked on cleaning the house. Mopped and vacuumed.

We enjoyed lunch with Jesse.

Then took him to Walmart to get groceries.

Got gas. Glad to see the prices going down.
s
Admin duties now.
I know people who could use some extra relaxer.

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:43 pm

Thursday, Ashley and I did a recon of missions in the Marietta area.
b
We enjoyed lunch at Sabor do Brazil.

Then went by Eastside Baptist Church to talk with some of the teachers about doing service projects with us.
s

Over to First Baptist Marietta. They are between youth directors right now.
m

And to Roswell Street Baptist Church to speak to the Brazilian pastor.

Looked at the antiques on the square near the church.
a
s
Went by Dwell apartments to speak with our friend Hessel who is the owner.
s
Glad to tell him about the Tates moving into the area.
s

Then back to Chamblee to work with the kids at the mission. Lot of work for the first week of school for sure.
t
s
s
Continued working on the DVD promo project. Takes time if you’re doing 75 of something. Even if we don’t need them all we can send them out to future prospects.

Friday morning Kathy and I met up with Jesse and Ashley in Clarkston, then went to the Zoo to meet up with Miles.
m
j

We enjoyed eating at 6 Feet Under for lunch. Right across the street from the cemetery.
x

Then off to the animals! Jesse always says that the humans are the most fun to watch.
h

Pandas were my favorite today.
p
p
s

Although the gorillas were also groovy.
g

And the Three Banded Armadillo was so cute.
a
The Orangutan looked wise to me.
w

It’s great having Miles work there. It opens up another level of interest for me at the zoo. I love plants!

Matched Ashley’s toe nails.
a

One of my favorite new things at the zoo were the Cool Fog machines that blew microdroplets of water on you. You felt cool, but not wet.
d

Some beautiful houses near Grant Park near the zoo!
s
s
Some still need work.
w
Came home to rest and continue the DVD project. Today, I focused on doing the labels for each disk and putting them into envelopes. Took hours.
