Had fun recording a new podcast this morning.

I’m a fan of competition, but it’s not nearly as powerful as cooperation. The whole idea of being number one can be very destructive.

I enjoyed lunch at Red Robin with Jesse.

After lunch, we went for an early showing of Thor–The Dark World.

It was better than I was expecting. Really enjoyed it.

Home now for admin duties.

Greek to me! Closest I can figure out is Do Not Run for the first section.

Had a fun lunch with my family today! Always great to spend time with them.

The Expedition had a charger light on, turned out to the alternator. Cost about $450. PLUS I had the Chrysler being worked on today getting a valve job done—that’ll be another nearly $1,000. Yow!

So Kathy and I for most of the day were down to using bikes! Good job we’re fit.

We had planned on going out of town for the weekend, but with all these expenses we had to cancel. Boo hoo.

After lunch, I got my running clothes on and ran a big loop. Ran 7.11 miles. That’s a long way for me.

Felt pretty good, but the cold air wasn’t that great on my legs. Sure was beautiful!

Working on admin duties now. Checking on one of the teams coming. Ashley has really done an amazing job with the logistics of the teams.

Ashley and I hosted a team from the Sharon School in Jonesboro,GA this morning.

Had fun giving our briefings!

Then off to CD Tower and Hoa Da pharmacy!

Cobra juice! A perennial crowd favorite!

Culminating with a trip to the Buford Highway Farmers Market.

Great having them with us.

Went to a couple of antique stores waiting for the kids to get back from school.




Then over to Lowes to pick up some supplies to finish mounting the whiteboards in the mission.

Worked with the kids on their homework.

It’s my Dad’s birthday today! Happy Birthday, Daddy!

A rare type of cloud formation called tsunami clouds. Caused by a slow moving layer of air with a fast moving layer right against it. Causes a wave effect.

Enjoyed a fun lunch with Kathy today.

I always enjoy recording podcasts!

Here’s my newest effort “Fall Awake NOW!” Ever wondered how much of your life is running on auto pilot? We are creatures of habit. There is a wonderful world out there, but we have to Fall Awake to see it!

Went for a 5.57 mile run this morning. Felt great.

Really easy and pain free. It’s a good thing. And always something to see.



The clouds were amazing to me.

Went to Lowes to pick up new white boards for the mission. It’s waterproof sheeting that’s used for shower stalls. Also works great as a dry erase marker board. So we got one big one and eight small ones.

Drilled holes then screwed a plastic holder into the drywall. Then screw into that holder.


One at both ends of the room.


Ashley was absolutely right to urge us to get them up. I know that they’ll be helpful for the ESL classes too.

Also changed a CFL lightbulb today. It was kind of dim. I’ve never seen one do that before.

Enjoyed working with the kids at the mission.



I brought my Perplexis EPIC puzzle to the mission today. The kids are fascinated by it. Me too! It was rated as the #1 new toy of the year this year.

I hate the time change. I don’t like it getting dark earlier. First day of it is always the worst for me. It just seems when I come home in the dark, I’m coming home later.
Hard to hold the camera absolutely still. Know which planet this is? It’s really bright in the Southern sky around dusk.

This shot always reminds me of Africa.

I go outside every day looking forward to seeing that golden sun streaking through those trees and being reminded of Nairobi.

Jesse and I enjoyed going to the Marco Polo exhibit at Fernbank today. It was pretty good.

They had books and maps over 500 years old.

I thought this sundial was cool.

I liked hanging out in the ger house.

But the most beautiful were the TREES! I love the bright colors against the cobalt blue sky.

Kathy and I are sharing a car. The Chrysler is getting the valve gaskets on one side redone. Glad that J was able to take me around!

I got him an ecosphere as a belated birthday present.

Never too much Jesse.

Installed our new internet service.

Wired in the new modem/wifi system and activated it over the web. Supposed to nearly double the speed of the web. We’ll see!

Had to pack the old modem up and send it back to Comcast via UPS.

K and I worked on setting up and using her new blood pressure tester that Jesse bought her.

Went to Walmart to buy her some music.

There is a CD player in the Expedition that has become her car.

I saw this dead fish as large as my hand in the parking lot at Walmart. Weird.

Raked leaves at my house.

Love Saint Francis.

And tiny mushrooms.

Had a fun day with Jesse today. We enjoyed Red Robin then went to Walmart to pick up the last of his costume. He’s going as Ian Malcome from Jurassic Park.

At Walmart they have a new system where you can scan your own stuff and then they have a device that reads your phone and checks you out.

We picked up J’s car. We think it was a security button that may have been causing the problem. Our mechanic told us how it work. Easy, once you know how.

Then dropped my car off. Check engine light went on again.

The check engine light should be in the shape of a dollar sign. $

The kids didn’t have much homework so we got an early start on the candy throwing, always a crowd favorite.

I don’t hand it to them I toss it to them.

Admin duties now. Kathy is riding her bike. She may want to go out for Halloween and see kids.

I liked the sound of this.

Worked on phone calls this morning. Setting up events in December and speaking at a conference in January.

Contacted our printer for our new photo card. Worked on getting the design squared away.

Went for a 5.09 mile run.

I ate a salad at McDonald’s and read this article on the atmosphere.

Downloaded a new book from audible. Highly recommend this service. Puts audio books straight onto your phone to listen to while you’re driving or exercising.

Worked at the mission with Ashley.

Admin duties now. Watching World Series with K. We hardly ever watch sports.

This morning I got the labels for the newsletter together.

Went to my mechanic. The check engine light was on in my car. He worked on it and the light went off. He told me that if it came back on then I should bring it back. Later it came back on.

Went to the Post Office to pick up stamps.

To the mission to do the labels and help them with their homework.

Donuts for a treat on “label day.”

Admin duties now. Enjoyed watching Modern Family and Parks and Rec with K.
