K’s Truck! TK! SSA! Driveway! 1.2.25

Tim A. Cummins @ 7:31 pm

I’ve found this to be true. I try and keep up with people.

Cold night!

Started my One Year Bible again. I’m always one day behind the current date because I wrote what happened on the previous day in one of the margins. I’ve had ten years so far in this Bible. I have room for maybe two more years before I get a new edition. NIV has been really good. The notes are also interesting.

Español!

K wanted to get her truck cleaned inside and out. I took out all the stuff and threw the trash away. Then we drove it to a by hand car wash place. $60 inside and out. We thought that was reasonable.

K wanted us to wear hats.

Tried to get K’s SSA site set up. I needed to have her phone around so I could check her email for links. Hopefully, I’ll get that knocked out this weekend. I’m with the girls tomorrow for most of the day. Get up at 5:45 AM.

Blew the sweet gum balls off of my driveway. They hurt to step on and can twist an ankle.

Keep going.

Español! Carnivores! Sheet! K’s Bed! Plants! 1.1.25

Tim A. Cummins @ 6:21 pm

New Year! Happiness to all!

OYB!

Moved my carnivores back inside. Really cold air coming. Into the low 20s.

Mended a hole in K’s sheet.

Checked the oil in K’s car. It was nearly full.

Brought K’s pillows from the dryer to her bedroom. Put a fresh sheet on her bed. It’s pretty hard because two of the sides are against a wall and the mattress is super heavy.

The caster for the upstairs plant table cracked off. I put a piece of a paper plate under it to keep metal leg from scarring the linoleum. Those plants are pretty heavy.

Watered the plants in my green room downstairs. I couldn’t believe how many flowers the begonias have had. Really adds a lot of color to the room. The African Violets are doing well too.

CPAP! Gas! Kyndal! 12.31.24

Tim A. Cummins @ 7:37 pm

Filled out a survey for BOA about what happened with the locksmith yesterday. It was all positive.

OYB!

Español!

Kathy’s CPAP machine hasn’t been working well. I traded out a filter. Seems to be ok now. Amen.

Ordered another hide a key after my old one fell off the car.

Got a letter in the mail to Everly’s friend in Tennessee.

Got gas and checked the oil.

I’m getting K a new mask and holder to help her sleep at night.

I repaired one of Everly’s plushies.

Good competition this week. I’ve never seen anyone score over 25,000 points in a day. That’s a lot of studying.

Keep going.

PE! Newsletters! Car Key! Stone Mountain Xmas! 12.30.24

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:56 pm

OYB

Beautiful day!

Came in #1 in the Duolingo leagues last week.

From time to time I have to put some ant killer out.

Got to Ashley’s house before 8:00 AM this morning. Early for me. I was up about an hour before dawn to study Spanish.

We went by the church to drop off the newsletter. The church secretary printed them off for me not long after. Took the girls to Waffle House to wait.

Went by the Post Office to get stamps.

Picked up checks while I was at FBCD. Processed and deposited them.

Beautiful clouds.

Went back to the church to pick up the copies. Stuffed the envelopes and put on the stamps while PE skated around the Fellowship Hall.

Dropped the newsletters off.

We went back to Ashley’s house to pick up Ryder, then over to Brook Run Park to check out the Dog Park. Had a great time.

I decided it was time to head back to Stone Mountain. We got the pup hooked up and headed to the car. When I got there, I realized the key had come loose from the fob. That’s not zesty. We looked around the dog run for about thirty minutes before I decided to use the hide a key that I had underneath the car. I was absolutely gobsmacked that that hide a key had fallen off! I just couldn’t believe it.

I looked thoroughly and then called a locksmith. The man in charge had a very strong accent. When the tech called me he also had a strong accent. When he texted me he used a letter that I reckognized as “Kah” in Hebrew. It would be like us typing “k” to someone. Turned out I was correct. He was from Israel. I told him I had studied some Hebrew and quoted the Aaronic blessing to him in Hebrew. He was impressed.

It was a long process to get the key code from Honda, program two keys (I ALWAYS have a back up), pay the bill, having to call the bank to approve the transaction . . . it took hours.

I gave the technician as much information as I could about how to find my car and what it and I looked like.

I finally turned on Share Location on my iPhone. It was easy for him to lock in on me then. It really is amazing technologyl

Everything was $489. Reasonable. The stuff is really expensive. Key codes. Mobile assistance. It’s a high tech thing for sure.

We finally got on the road, went back to Ashley’s to drop off Ryder. Miles was home by then so it was a smooth transition.

We headed straight to Stone Mountain to go see the Christmas lights and watch the drone show. It was pretty crowded.

We had a really fun time. Got a bit cold at the drone show but not bad.

There were these big hoses that fog was coming out of. I lifted up the hose so I could shoot it more at the girls. It looked supa coo.

I love shooting Christmas lights. I like doing a slow shutter and shooting and moving the camera suddenly to make swishy effects.

The light shows were really first class.

Don’t stop. Won’t stop.

Español! Laundry! Podcast! K! 12.29.24

Tim A. Cummins @ 5:23 pm

I put all the labels on the envelopes last night. Still need to get stamps.

Listened to Piolin while I did it.

Looks like I’ll be going into Doraville tomorrow morning to get my newsletters printed and put in the mail. I’ll also get the grandgirls. Looking forward to that! They’ll spend the night at my house Monday and Tuesday.

OYB!

Warmed up and wet.

Español!

Looking into a dusting tool.

Released a new edition of Verbal Surgery called, “Brand New You.” Good one.

Did my laundry.

Took K out for Italian. We tried to make a 39 for our anniversary.

I liked this cash register.

I’ll come in first place this week.

Anniversary! Newsletter! Drumset! Podcast! 12.28.24

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:14 pm

The more fundamentalist you are, the less likely you are to get along with most people.

I’ve certainly seen this decline.

Drizzly and foggy this evening.

OYB!

Español!

Wrote and produced my newsletter. I’ll drop that off at the Church on Monday. If all goes well, I’ll get the copies and get it in the mail that same day.

I went to Stone Mountain to record a new episode of Verbal Surgery called, “Brand New You.” Excellent. I’ll release it tomorrow.

I cleaned up my electronic drum kit. I thought the kids might like to play on it. Also put fresh batteries in my light-up drumsticks. That was a job.

Don Cheto!

It’s our 39th wedding anniversary today. Good time with my sweet gal. We were planning on eating Italian, but there was a 45 minute wait when we called so we blew that off and went Mexican. So good.

Foggy on the way home. We enjoyed looking at the Christmas lights.

I’m still waiting to see if Jacob is going to make some big comeback.

Leaves! Shoes! Feeders! 12.27.24

Tim A. Cummins @ 5:23 pm

Yesterday may have been my highest one day score in Duolingo.

Listened to Piolin last night.

Supposed to have rainy weather later today.

Still looking into better rates on auto insurance.

OYB!

Español!

Finished up the leaf project today. Cleaned the NE side of my property.

I used my rake. Only had to blow the road clean.

Looks better.

I’m leaving part of it unraked. I’m also letting the mound of leaves decompose in place. Over the years I’d like the soil to be built up there

I brought a cutting of Plumeria back from Texas. I’d been trying to get it to root for about the last six weeks. I opened it up today and it showed no evidence of trying to put out roots. One of the videos I watched mentioned that the cutting needed to be kept at around 80 degrees. The room I’ve had it in has been down to the mid 50s. I think that’s what the problem is. I’ll try again when it warms up.

The area around my back door had a lot of leaves. I cleaned that and redid the St. Francis shrine.

I thought this little polypore was a beautiful color of yellow/orange.

Over the last few years, I’ve gotten into cleaning my shoes regularly as well as painting them with white leather paint. My shoes pretty much always look great. Even my work shoes. I didn’t used to be like that at all. Another big change is my life is not wearing flip flops regularly. I only use those around a hot surface pool area.

You’d think by the numbers I’d be #1 for sure this week, right? But Jacob in 4th place made 11,000 and 9,000 points last Saturday and Sunday. Not sure he’ll put in that kind of effort this week.

Español! Leaves! Groceries! 12.26.24

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:42 pm

Cool.

Incredible! Beautiful!

OYB!

Felt colder today with no sun.

Ordered groceries.

Studied Español for about 1.5 hours.

Did this.

Blew and raked the leaves along the southern border of my property.

Also cleared out the central part of my front yard.

Wound up all my cords and refolded my tarp before going in. Worked two hours.

Picked up my groceries. Went inside the store for a couple of things. Saw this dog ice cream. Bizarre.

Push.

Anthony! Roof! Leaves! 12.25.24

Tim A. Cummins @ 7:55 pm

I thought this was supa coo.

I saw Miles’ company advertised on Facebook last night.

OYB!

Español!

It’s not supposed to freeze for about a week so I put my carnivores back outside.

Good chat with my buddy Anthony.

Blew the roof and gutters.

Blew the deck.

Those two projects took me about an hour.

Blew the driveway and the front porch garden.

Also cleaned the area near the mailbox.

Glad to get the roof and yard looking better. Wanted to get it done before it started raining again.

Put the garbage out. Today is our normal trash day. It’ll come tomorrow instead.

Beautiful sunset.

Talked to Nana on the way home. Always a blessing.

The guy in fourth place did 19,000 points in two days last week. We’ll see if he makes the same effort this week.

Kathmandu! Christmas Party! 12.24.24

Tim A. Cummins @ 7:34 pm

OYB!

Froze last night. Beautiful today.

Español!

J, K and I went to Clarkston to meet up with the Kendalls at Kathmandu Grill for our Christmas lunch. The Cummins family celebrates the gift giving on Christmas Eve, rather than in the morning. It’s from our German heritage. I went to Kathmandu in ’82. It was one of my favorite trips ever. I’d been to both of these temples.

GREAT to have the whole family together!

We went to their house to open gifts.

I got Ryder a gift too.

Good times!

Never stops.
