We got over an 1 1/4″ of rain yesterday! Here’s the other half inch from later in the evening!
This morning I recorded a new podcast! It’s designed to help you sleep better. The quote it’s based on is, “Sleep is underrated by the tired.”
PODCAST!
Went to the Post Office to pick up a package from Jesse. He sent his iPhone 3Gs to us so Ashley could use that phone. He got his new iPhone4 a few days ago. It’s been SO much fun talking to him and seeing him at the same time!
I ate lunch with Ashley and Miles and then we came home to set up Ashley’s new phone (J’s old one) and help Miles get his iPhone going (Ashley’s old one.) Groovy!
Gave myself a haircut! Yowza! Check out those flowing locks!
Went to Huntington Creek to pay a water bill and meet the new management. It’s the same company that owns Huntington Ridge. That’s great news since I’ve worked with their regional manager for years! That was a real answer to prayer since the North’s apartment was at stake. They had a bunch of kids at the mission!
Checked on the mail at the office, then went to Azalea to help my kids with their homework.
When was the last time you did graphing with a function of X?
One of the ladies gave the kids dolls. They love them!
Also picked up a computer that was malfunctioning to take to my partners at Reboot.
Came home to work on admin duties. It’s a weigh of life.
I thought these cranes looked like dinosaurs.
I was astonished to see that someone had redone this old Waffle House. It closed because the road expansion had cut off their entrances! The only way to this restaurant is through a back neighborhood.
These are some of my favorite cloud formations: cirrus undulatus. Normally, I see these when another rain system is moving in within 2 days. Shows very high altitude moisture. And beauty!

This morning I worked on paying bills for the missions and started on my financial report.
Ashley starts back to school today! She’s taking a bunch of honors classes. She’s smart!
And what a beauty!
I did lunch with Jorge and Janet Romero from Rome, GA. We talked about missions here in Atlanta and went by Southern Trace to check out the property where they might live.
Went by the office to check on bills and plants. We’re starting to get a lot of school supplies mailed to us from churches all over America. Cool! I was part of the Christmas In August program for kids studying missions.
Helped the kids at Azalea with their homework. From High School economics to recognizing the letter “M” it’s all in a day’s work.
Sad day and Alex and his brother are moving back to Florida tomorrow. I’ll miss them.
Came home and ran 1 1/2 miles. Poured rain. Wet! Sugar didn’t seem to mind.
We got nearly 1″ of rain today at my house.
Won’t be staining the deck any time soon. Has to be completely dry to work well.
Admin work at home.
Watched Lie To Me with Kathy this evening. GREAT show!
I liked the suspension on this truck. Wow!
And a quote from one of my heroes: Ben Franklin.
Amen!
Tim A. Cummins @ 5:45 pm
K and I went to Clarkston International Bible Church this morning. Dr. Phil preached on revenge and forgiveness. It was prompted from a Bhutanese young man being killed in Clarkston last week.
We ate at a Food Fave of mine Pho Truc after church. It was great!
Continued on the staining the deck project this afternoon. I used up the rest of the gallon of stain on the railing and the steps up. Definitely the hardest part of the job.
We’re talking to Jesse in New Hampshire while I’m writing this. We both have the new iPhones which means that we can use the Face Time app, so we can see each other. It’s like Dick Tracy!
I liked this Census sticker.
And this sign. Did you know that In is a side?
Tim A. Cummins @ 8:14 pm
Here’s how the deck is looking.
I messed up my shoes doing it! Hopefully, they’ll come clean!
K and I went for a 6 mile bike ride. Steep hills in our neighborhood.
Lots of fun things to see.
Still can’t figure out why a guy would want to do this with his car?
K took me to see the Geckos today at Fernbank.
We went past Scott Blvd. Baptist Church on the way. K’s dad used to pastor that church.
We at lunch at Piccadilly. I liked these ads.
And the carpet had a cool design.
Kathy loved the chocolate cake!
I thought the toys were pretty cool in the game machine.
And this jello!
It was fun to see them!
It was a pretty good exhibit. Not as good as Gold!, or the Pharaohs, or the Caesars.
The coolest ones were from Madagascar.
Here are pictures of the island. I loved living in Madagascar! We lived in the capital, Antananarivo.
I liked the dinosaurs of course!
Enjoying a fun day!
A new type of candy available at Fernbank. Not sure it’ll catch on.
Under the category, “Won’t be buying soon.”
Strange signs I saw today.
Tim A. Cummins @ 6:01 pm
I spent most of the day today mowing and staining!
Cut the front yard and most of the back yard. It’s been so dry some of the back yard didn’t really need it.
I finished staining the columns in the front of the house.
And started staining the railings and floor of the deck.
Lotta work!
Tim A. Cummins @ 7:38 pm
This morning I exercised my creative muscle and spent about 30 minutes working on new Ben Franklinesque proverbs.
I call the positivity “Verbal Surgery.” It’s fun, and I think valuable.
Ate lunch with Ashley, K and Miles! We saw this plate in the parking lot. Can you tell where it’s from?
I went to Walmart and Staples to pick up yet again, more school supplies.
I think they have everything they need now.
Also went by the Post Office to get stamps. Giddy up!
Ashley helped me at the mission today! Yeah!
I helped Nishi read, Ash helped with that too.
I helped Melissa with her writing. I think it’s fun to help kids learn reading and writing. Melissa will say, “I’m learning!” and be just so cute.
I let her take a picture of me with my camera.
Alex was eating a blue raspberry treat.
We worked on getting the video games working for the kids. They enjoy those Mario Brothers!
Came home to work on admin duties!
Looking forward to a rest day tomorrow. Which means yard work.
Tim A. Cummins @ 7:59 pm
Did some cleaning around the house. Here’s what the post vacuum corner looked like.
Filled up several hummingbird feeders with sugar water.
Had lunch with Ashley at Spiced Right!
Over to Goodwill to look for Tshirts.
Got a couple of cool ones! You’ll see them all over time!
Some some pretty weird ones, too.
Just to clarify, I did not buy that shirt!
We also like going to the antique store near by. They also have some cool stuff.
Went to Office Depot to pick up some other school supplies. Still missing large spiral multi subject notebooks.
Took care of a library book issue with one of the Bengali families.
Spent some time cleaning the mission. Overall, the kids do pretty well at helping me keep it clean. Yeah, right.
They did help each other. I appreciated that.
I’m helping Nishi learn to read, and that’s a pretty labor intensive thing to do properly.
Tim A. Cummins @ 11:14 am
One of the fun things I do is Verbal Surgery!
Short, motivational podcasts based on my proverbs!
Click HERE to go to the Verbal Surgery Site!
I think you’ll enjoy them!
Tim A. Cummins @ 8:20 pm
I got the new iPhone for Jesse yesterday!
I put it in the mail to him on up to New Hampshire this morning.
Got the oil changed in the Chrysler.
Checked out some new Christian music while I was waiting. Toby Mac has a new album. Looking forward to that!
Went to Perimeter Church to collect school supplies.
They had 40 back packs for me!
It was great to be able to share with the community.
I also purchased about $300 worth of school supplies to supplement what was donated.
But I should have waited till I had the High School boys to help me. Would have been a lot more controlled.
Pretty much high speed chaos.
Pretty hot.
I liked this butterfly.
And this book cover.
I couldn’t understand how you could watch for cars and look straight down at the pavement to read the sign at the same time.
Interesting question.
