Ashley and I spoke at Union Baptist Church in Griffin, GA this morning!

Sadly, on my way to go pick up Ash, the Chrysler started over heating, seconds late the check engine light goes on and the car loses power. Never zesty.

Called Ash to pick me up, then we shot over to Griffin. We got there in plenty of time.

Ash and I gave our initial briefing to the kids, many of whom will come on the mission trip to work with us in the International Village.



We had lunch with the youth director and his wife. Delightful!

I called AAA on the way to pick up my car. Ash waited with me for the tow truck to come.

We towed it on over to T&G.

We’ve also had some problems with the electrical system in our house. Ever since the powerful thunderstorm when we lost power, the power has been off in one line that runs a couple of lights and also some plugs. Hopefully, I can get an electrician to help me out.

Home now to work on admin duties, edit video and rest.

Last night there was a powerful thunderstorm which knocked out our power till about 10:30pm. I didn’t have access to my computer.

Ashley and I did a recon of the locations a week from now.

Went to eat Thai food while in Sandy Springs.

Cool place. Food was good. Service was slow.

Then checked on our team from Grace Covenant.

Had the power outage to deal with when I got home.

This morning Ashley and I briefed our team from Oakland Baptist Church, GA.

Took them to the Buford Highway Farmers Market. Always a groovy thing.

They did a great job at Azalea with our kids.

Best part was that I got to hang out with some of my original youth group today. They guys really are like sons to me.

My car passed the emission test. Had to get tie rods replaced and the rotors turned. Yow!

Dropped off the Expedition. It passed too! Now we have to get our van in. It’s the oldest. Pray for safe passage!

Ashley and I gave our briefings on Islam and Hinduism.

Then took the teams over to Global Mall to visit the Shiv Mandir Hindu temple.

Checked out Islamic N. Africa at Al Madina. Always fascinating, and delicious!

Checked on the teams at the missions.

Ash and I wrote and produced our newsletters for the month. Our friends at the Atlanta Metro Baptist Association printed them in color for us!

We had the kids help us with the labels and stuffing the envelopes.

Then we give everybody doughnuts . . . . whether they helped us not. They love ’em!

Admin duties now. Also need to write a letter to help a friend with their immigration issues.

Ash and I had fun briefing the team on Buddhism this morning.

Then over to CD Tower, the Hong Kong Bakery and Hoa Da–the traditional herbal medicine shop.

Ate at Penang for some great Malaysian food.

Then to the missions! It rained pretty hard for about fifteen minutes. Then cleared off and was sunny!

Came home early to work on the newsletters. Takes a few hours to get all that together!

There have been three baby raccoons eating the cat food by my office at FBC Doraville. Cuteness!

Kathy and I enjoyed going to Clarkston International Bible Church this Sunday. Pastor Phil blessed the students going to camp this week. After eating lunch with Kathy and Jesse, I went home to record a new podcast! Woot! “PreGeneration!” Verbal Surgery meets Metaphysics. Just click on the title and groove! Enjoyed playing a new video game Sunday afternoon called “Last of Us!” I can’t get over the amazing cinematic skill in these games! Did you know that video games make TEN times the money that movies do?

Enjoyed working with the teams this morning.

Ashley and I did our greeting briefing. Always fun! We have a team from Knoxville, TN–Grace Covenant Church, and FBC Mcdonough, GA in town this week. Groovy!

We took them to the Buford Highway Farmers Market. Love the cool things I see! They were sold out of the Frozen Pig Head, we had to make due with Frozen Lamb Head. Not as good.

It came on a fancy apple paper that looked completely legit. This is a scam of people fishing (they call it phishing) for people’s account number and credit card numbers. BEWARE OF THIS!

Went for a 2.66 mile run this morning. I hurt my calf running to get to a plane going to Austin. Didn’t bother me until the middle of the first mile.

I liked the flowers on my run. Some of them tiny. Others larger than my head.

Some covered the whole tree.

Had a fun lunch with Jesse today. We ate BBQ.

I liked the lichens I saw on the logs. Interesting.

Came home to watch TV with K and rest. It was pretty mild this morning, but I still got tired and my leg hurts.

Took my car to get worked on. Unfortunately, their emissions machine wasn’t working. They did tweak my AC for me though! Cool!

Went to see Man of Steel this afternoon. Really disappointed in it. Overall pretty weak.

Talked to my Mom. She said that my Dad had been moved into the physical therapy floor so that’s good news. He’s still having trouble swallowing.

Enjoyed watching TV with K this evening.

Been a wild week. My Mom called me last week that my Dad was pretty sick in the hospital and she needed my help.

So I jumped on a plane to Austin the next day.

I waited till after Ashley and I briefed the team What a great group!

I love our new bubble guns!

My Dad was in ICU and had his gall bladder removed last Friday afternoon. After the surgery, he was kept under total sedation for nearly three days. He had a tube down into his lungs that whole time. He’s doing better with his swallowing, but he’s still having some trouble. His physical therapist had him walk around the room a little bit today.

Many friends visited and supported us as we were in the hospital.

Spoke at a Sunday School class at Main Street Baptist Church. Many of the people there I’ve known for decades.

Got to hike one afternoon. Spent a lot of time looking for rattlesnakes and fossils. In that order.

Mom was sad to see me go.

I got back last night from Austin. Loved the clouds.

Jumped right back in this morning. Ashley and I gave our briefing on Catholicism.

Always something fun and interesting.

Ashley was her usual calm, sedate self.

The team gave her flowers! Groovy!
