UPS! Podcast! Nana’s Bed! Bird Feeders! 7.20.25

Tim A. Cummins @ 7:25 pm

How many of these do you know?

My brother-in-law Bill is thinking about getting a smart phone. That’ll be a BIG change for him.

Played guitar with my Spark amp last night.

I tried an external TV antenna for my Mom’s TV. It couldn’t pick up a signal. I took it to UPS to send back to Amazon.

Español!

I needed the word “gutter” in Español last week. I had cannelloni las week for my birthday!

OYB!

Felt so hot outside. Like walking through a terrarium.

Went to Stone Mountain to record “Red Line” for my podcast Verbal Surgery. Not a very flattering episode for me.

Another of the Old Guard goes to Heaven. Uncle Will J was one of my favorite people. He and his wife were great supporters of our ministry.

Miles and Ashley came over to help me put the bed frame together for Nana. We got rid of an old mattress and boxsprings too. BIG help!

I cleaned and refilled my hummingbird feeders.

Recorded a new episode of Verbal Surgery called “Red Line.” It’s about me getting really angry.

I’ll come in third place this week. I’ve probably come in the top three over 130 times.

Spark! Shirt! Cleaning! Groceries! 7.19.25

Tim A. Cummins @ 5:54 pm

I’ve enjoyed playing my guitar with my Spark amp. It’s fun to play with different types of amps and effects with music that I like. My callouses are back on my finger tips and I’m playing better than ever.

OYB!

Sewed a button back on my shirt. I was telling my Mom last week that her teaching me how to sew was one of the best life lessons I’ve learned.

Español!

Rained hard for a few minutes this afternoon.

Put my vacuum back together. If I clean it every time it really sucks. Ironic.

I put the seat covers back on after washing them.

Ordered groceries.

I did some laundry for my Mom. Set a timer to remind me when to do the next step.

I was on the phone with Mint Mobile for over an hour today. My Mom’s iPhone is still not activated with Mint. I got so angry at them. They kept asking my Mom’s name. I’d tell them, “Peggy.” Then they’d say, “That’s not the name on the account.” “You don’t think I know my Mother’s name? Of course I told them Peggy!” They must have asked me five times, “Don’t you remember the name for your Mother’s account?” I was so mad. Like my memory was somehow at fault.

Picked up my groceries.

Had to go inside Walmart to pick up bread which wasn’t on the list. Bahd luck. At least I didn’t go crazy and buy a bunch of treats.

Looks like I’ll be in the top three this week.

Plants! Bugs! Antenna! Storms! 7.18.25

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:11 pm

OYB!

Español!

K and I went to Walmart to get some lice medicine. Ashley called us this morning just as we were headed to her house and said that we shouldn’t come. She had to do a complete cleaning of the girl’s hair and all the bedding. We’ve been cleaning stuff and checking for bugs. We didn’t see any.

I tried to get the off air antenna to work on my Mom’s TV. I thought I had it working because there was a “Live TV” channel. That was a mistake. I needed to go into settings and click on the TV Cable input. It wasn’t getting a signal. So I’m getting another kind.

Feels like an aquarium outside.

Big storms blew through. We needed the rain. I actually watered all my outside plants this afternoon. They can always use more.

My new passport is on the way here! I don’t plan on going anywhere soon. But nice to be ready!

One more day. And then the next.

I put the sliders on my Mom’s walker. Also organized her vital documents.

Nana to Doctor! PEN to LT! Jurassic Rebirth! 7.17.25

Tim A. Cummins @ 7:25 pm

I got a note from Angela about when there will be teams at Azalea for her kids. I sent her a message and the schedule for our last weeks of the Summer.

I got some sleds for Nana’s walkers.

OYB!

Español!

Took my Mom to Dr. Abraham’s office to get her set up in their system.

We will get a bone density scan done for Nana soon.

I had to figure out some addresses and phone numbers while we were there.

We ate at El Torerros.

I took the grandgirls and JK to Jurassic Rebirth. We liked it.

I ordered Nana a file divider/organizer for her documents.

We had Audrey, Mom’s occupational therapist, come by our house and take a look at how everything was set up and how she was doing. She was impressed. Nana has really been working hard and it’s paying off.

She gave us this number to call if we need a doctor to come by our house.

Like a terrarium outside.

Push.

PEK! Jon! Metro! Anthony! Mint!

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:17 pm

OYB!

Español!

We stayed indoors a lot today. Too hot for much activity.

PEK and I picked up my treasurer Jon Paul today for lunch. We discussed some business and he signed checks for my reimbursement. We had fun talking together with the girls and K.

Had a great chat with my buddy, Anthony this afternoon. He was walking around London at the time.

Talked with Mom’s occupational therapist. We set up an appointment for 2PM tomorrow.

Mom has her initial primary care doctor appointment at 10:15 AM tomorrow. It’s important that she has all the different types of doctors she needs. She still needs an eye doctor and perhaps a osteopath.

I’m still working on getting my Mom’s landline number ported to her new iPhone 13 mini. Way more complicated than transferring a SIM card or from one iPhone to another. I spent about an hour on the phone with Mint Mobile today. The lady assured me that the transfer just takes time and that everything is in order. I will call back on the 19th.

I also have to coordinate things with the family.

Competition. I thrive on it.

PE! Stone Mountain! German Bakery! 7.15.25

Tim A. Cummins @ 6:17 pm

OYB!

Español!

Picked up the grandgirls. We went by my office to check the mail and make sure the the Fellowship Hall was reserved properly. I needed to add two days and eliminate two days.

Reminded my friend Jon Paul that we are getting together tomorrow.

Helped my Mom fill in eight pages of forms for her doctor’s appointment on Thursday.

Hot.

We climbed Stone Mountain. We stopped at our “Campsite One” and scratched our initials in on the rock.

Beautiful day for a hike!

Some of the trail really frightened the girls. Especially the coming down part.

We made it up and back safely! They give us a certificate for doing that.

We stopped by the German Bakery on our way home. We saw Mr. Carl, who is the owner. He is planning on reopening in August! Great to see the place coming back after the fire!

Penelope likes to put wet towels on her face and take a picture. Cool look. Almost like sculpture.

Keep going.

Sprouts Park! Briarwood Pool! PEK! 7.14.25

Tim A. Cummins @ 7:11 pm

Vocabulario!

OYB!

Español!

My Mom highly encouraged me yesterday to get help with cleaning the roof and gutters. Seems reasonable. She wants to help me pay for it. The only reason I do it is to save money. I’ll still take care of the rest of the yard, just not the roof and gutters.

Hot this afternoon.

Picked up the girls at their house and took them to Waffle House for breakfast.

They like to “ride the horse” in front of Waffle House.

Went by my office to check the mail.

Sprout Park for exercise. We finished up at the adult section of the park which looks like American Ninja Warrior.

Then to Briarwood Park in Brookhaven to swim. It’s our new favorite pool. And only $8 for two seniors and two kids. Amen.

BBQ for lunch at Pig n Chik. Their veggie sides are pretty good.

Took a short nap at Ashley’s house. What a blessing to mankind that is. Getting up at 5:45 AM is a challenge.

Got gas and checked the oil on the way home.

There are some smart people in this week’s group. 130 is a perfect score in Spanish on Duolingo. I’ve completed all the exercises to a high degree. I don’t see many other people with that score.

Water! Feeders! Laundry! Windows! Roof! 7.13.25

Tim A. Cummins @ 6:28 pm

OYB!

Español!

Felt hot working outside. When I was done, my shirt was completely soaked with sweat.

Filled up my water jugs. I use them to water most of my inside garden. I use distilled water for the carnivores.

Cleaned and refilled the bird baths. I have four.

Discovered a leak in my hose. I’ll have to take it back to Lowes and get a replacement.

Cleaned and refilled my hummingbird feeders.

Did my laundry.

Used my broom to sweep away all the spiderwebs. Then Windex on the glass.

Used some new wax ear plugs while I blew.

Blew the roof and cleaned the gutters.

Cleaned the deck and driveway.

Hard work. And some kind of ant or something bit me about ten times stings like hell.

End of a fun birthday.

I’m glad my Mom’s friends are keeping in touch.

Set up my Mom’s PT.

Vocabulario.

I should come in second place this week.

Birthday 67! Podcast! Provinos! 7.12.25

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:23 pm

I woke up to lots of birthday messages!

I find this interesting. Measures the geomagnetic and lightning of the Earth. Way more than it usually is.

Español!

I’ve enjoyed reading Hemingway and about his life, especially in Africa.

Blooming on my birthday!

OYB!

Not as hot today.

I found out that one of my teams the final week of the Summer isn’t coming. C’est la vie, baby.

Called Mint Mobile to find out the status of Nana’s phone. It’s still in the transition between the two companies phase. It’s trickier when it’s a land line number that is being ported.

Picked up my Mom’s blood pressure medicine.

I enjoyed my birthday party at Provinos. They give me a little ice cream with a cookie and candle. Groovy.

I’ll come in second tomorrow probably.

Recorded and released Verbal Surgery -1113- “The Birthday Present.” Unwrap it!

PEK! Monkey Bar Park! Briarwood Pool! Bank! 7.11.25

Tim A. Cummins @ 7:15 pm

OYB!

Español!

Took the girls to McDonalds.

Miles’ Mom has her birthday today! One day before mine.

We had fun at the Monkey Bar Park. I make everything as difficult as I can. So all the toys take on much different meanings. Like hopping from one thing to another on one leg. Or climbing on the outside of things or up poles.

No hands.

Extra stretch.

I have nature identification apps.

A lot of things I have them do involve balancing. Like on this roller or on a slack chain ladder. No hands.

We call it the “Monkey Bar Park” for a reason. Great upper body workout.

Hop rock.

Constant balanced movement is my goal for them. None of this stuff is designed for how we’re using it.

Climbing this fence was rigorous.

I try to be strict with numbers.

Picked up mail, processed checks and deposited them. Thank you, Father for your concern and care for me. Amen.

From the bank to Briarwood Pool.

We enjoyed 1.5 hours at the pool primarily swimming laps. We got out and dried off and a siren went off making everyone get out of the pool because of storms nearby. Not THAT close, but don’t mess with lightning.

My plumeria is flowering! What a blessing. I hope that some of them will have their fragrance.

Progress comes from consistent work.
