Fish! Ashley!

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:00 pm

Another 1/2″ of rain last night! That’s 2″ in the last three days. Excellent!
r
I’m really enjoying the cooler air, although I did wear shorts and flipflops again! Groovy, baby!

This morning I worked on email and other admin duties.

Also cleaned the fish tank downstairs and go some more dechlorinator from Pet Smart.
d
Went to Lowes to pick up another water sprayer. The cheaper one worked better!

Loved the flowers there.
f
And the first Christmas decorations!
c
Ate lunch and noticed that the pizza place near our house had closed. Rough economy.

p

Picked up Ashley after school and went to the mission to help the kids with their homework.

s
The boxes of school supplies are piling up in my office!
s
Many of the kids are doing the COGAT testing so they don’t have homework. Easier days are great!

Dropped Ashley back off at school, she’s laying out the newspaper right now.

On the way home I did an interview with Mark Edge the producer of Free Talk Live. He wanted to talk with me about my podcast Verbal Surgery.

He’s a big fan. FTL is the largest podcast on the web with over 5,000 downloads a DAY! Yow!

Then over to my Chief Financial Officer’s house to drop some documents she needed to work on.

Stopped by Goodwill to look for shirts. Didn’t see any good ones tonight. Bahd luck.

Came home to finish up my admin duties.

Looking forward to a day off tomorrow!

Saturday I have events in Lawrenceville with 12 Stone Church, Sunday with Perimeter Church. Next Thursday I go to Colorado to do teach a conference.

Better enjoy the rest when I get it!

Ian! Pants! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 7:33 pm

Had a fun today with one of my favorite people! Ian North!
i

I’ve been thinking about him a lot recently since he’s going to run a 50K (that’s over 30 miles!) marathon this weekend in Chattanooga.

We had lunch at El Torreros and spent some time together at my office to talk about the race. I’m excited for him! His brother Eric will run with him. Awesome!

Ian actually started me blogging back in 2004. Most people didn’t even know what a blog was back then.

It’s actually turned cooler. I wore shoes and pants! Wow!
p

Went to Lowes to pick up my new sprayer head. Excellent!
s
Also to Walmart to pick up some supplies for the mission, in particular dry erase markers.
d
Helped the kids with their homework today. J is still sick. The kids made him some “Get Well” cards. They love him too!

I liked this foam man. Big heart!
f

Had a talk with the manager at Huntington Creek about some mold issues in the North’s apartment. Glad they’re working on that now!

I saw this bill board on Buford Highway.
f
Its by the Freedom From Religion Foundation. What a trip! And ironic that it’s under a funeral home ad!

I thought this dude was scary.
s
What do you think this bumper sticker means?
s
I liked these shoes!

Who said this blog’s not educational!?

Beardless! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:54 pm

Another 3/4″ of rain yesterday. Excellent!
r
Jesse is still feeling poorly. His ear still hurts which makes it hard for him to sleep. No sleep is never a good thing.

Worked outside this morning. My sprayer broke. Have to get a new one.
h
The days where I would use my thumb on a hose are gone.

Did the grocery shopping. That job always takes at least an hour.

More boxes of school supplies for the missions! AMEN!
b

Helped the kids with their homework.
m
rjj

Can you do this?
h

I’ve played the whole shaving my beard off close to the vest. I’ve been curious as to who notices when.
t
I’ve already started growing it back.

I was at the mission for nearly two hours when one of the girls says, “Mr. Tim! You shaved!” I congratulated her on her powers of observation.

I hung out with Kathy two hours tonight and with Jesse for a while too. Neither mentioned it.

I bet when I see Ashley she’ll immediately say something.

I left the mission late. Ate at Taco Veloz on the way home. Huevos Rancheros.
j
What a thing of beauty!

Enjoyed watching House with K this evening.

We had a beautiful sunset!

Newsletters! Jesse! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:32 pm

Late last night and this morning I finished writing the 180 letters for this month’s Outreach Update!
l

Always glad when I have that job done!

Nearly an inch of rain yesterday.
r

Took the letters by the Post Office to get them in the mail stream.
po
Jesse hasn’t been feeling well. Kathy took him to the doctor at 4:30pm today. Dr. Pat Barrington is a wonderful woman of God and a terrific doctor! She gave him some antibiotic eardrops since he had a bad ear ache. I’m sure he’ll be on the mend soon!

He went to work with me a few days last week, but still wasn’t 100%. Glad he’s on meds now.

Also worked on two new podcasts. I had over 1,200 downloads this month. Been happy about that!
p

I think Verbal Surgery is one of the best projects I’ve ever worked on.

Went by my office at FBC Doraville to check on the mail. Bunch more boxes of goodies for the kids!
c

I take pictures of all the addresses so I can write the kids a letter.
a

Worked on admin duties this afternoon then went on to Azalea to help the kids with their homework. They had plenty!
a
m
Big ol’ clouds today!
c

Poured down rain as I was getting ready to go home. Lights even shut off for a few minutes.
r
Came on home in the drizzle. Finishing up my admin work.

I shaved my beard off tonight. Yow!

Eastside Baptist Church! Newsletters!

Tim A. Cummins @ 5:46 pm

This morning Kathy and I went to Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta.

e
They’re hosting a missionary every Sunday to share a bit about their ministry to the congregation. I thought David did a good job speaking about debt and how to get out of it!
d

We handed out a lot of prayer cards. It’s all about networking!

Thanks to Katie Wires for inviting us.
k
We had lunch at a new Food Fave: Sabor de Brazil. Ironically, I had Brazilian food yesterday. This was a buffet off of Delk Road. There are a LOT of Brazilians that live in that area.
b

The whole place was speaking Portugese! That was fun.
t
k

Came home and printed out the newsletter. Helped Ashley edit hers.
a
Then went to Staples to print them out.
c
I’ll start working on writing them and getting them in the mail now.
x
Ashley and Kathy went to FBC Duluth this evening. She’s speaking to the Mission Friends group there. I spoke there last year. That’s a fun bunch of kids!

Rained a lot today. And cooler! PTL for that. It’s been hot for so long I started to wonder if it was EVER going to cool off!

Admin duties now.

Newsletter! Miles’ Birthday! Clean up!

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:27 pm

This morning I finished laying out my newsletter for this month. Groovy!

Also converted the October letter and some of the previous ones into a PDF for Jesse to post on our web site. We have the archived newsletters from Whirlwind Missions going back to 2001! Cool!

And gave myself a haircut!
t

I just fixed the batteries in my wireless keyboard. Sure was glad I had some AAAs!

J and I met up with the Kendall family and Ashley to celebrate Miles’ birthday. He’s a great guy!
k
j

Jimmy and Cheryl Kendall took us all out to eat at Fire of Brazil.

f
Great place!

s
m

c

And great company!
k
j

After lunch, we hung out at Barnes and Noble for a while, then over to the Mall for Yophoria. Excellent yoghurt!

I thought my children should have been the cover for this book!
a

Came on home and relaxed.

Then cleaned my room. Vacuumed it all up. K will be proud of me.

Now it’s admin duties before relaxing.

K is out on her bike. Just called her since it’s getting dark.

Tomorrow morning I have to get up early to be over in Marietta for their mission conference.

I liked this license plate. Ride ’em!
h
Guess where it’s from.

Who comes up with this stuff?
z

More of this!
lk

I liked these shoes.

Newsletter! Run!

Tim A. Cummins @ 5:38 pm

This morning I worked on writing my newsletter. Still need to do the layout.

This afternoon I went for a 4 mile run. Sure am tired now.

While I was running, I was thinking about my partner Ian North. Next weekend he’s due to run a 50K course! That’s over 30miles! Yow!

It’s been a good day to relax and work on admin duties.

Lost & Found! Labels! Azalea team!

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:14 pm

Have you ever lost anything and just about driven yourself crazy looking for it? Welcome to my world.

I am EXTREMELY careful with my stuff. Especially my techno stuff. I literally have cases for my cases, just in case.

Last night, after I finished editing the video I shot for my team from Texas, I got ready to put my video camera away. No case. What?! It should be RIGHT THERE!

But it wasn’t. I looked for at least an hour for that case. I KNEW it was in my room because my camera was there. And it’s never far from the case.

I spent probably two hours in all scouring every possible place.

This morning I looked under my bed for the THIRD time. And there it was!
c

Needless to say a black case isn’t the easiest thing to see, but still! What was it doing under there? Bizarre!

That’s why I always ask myself, “Where should it be?” Sometimes it takes the third time I look through it before I find it.

This morning, after I found the case (!) I worked on labels for the newsletter.
l
Went out and got doughnuts for the kids for helping me with that project.
s
And stamps!
p

Went by Walmart to pick up some balls and pumps for the boys at the mission.
p

My family had lunch at Madina. They repainted during Ramadan.
m

j
a

I wore my Israeli Defense Force shirt there. It’s one of my favorites: even has Hebrew on it!

Actually had a Palestinian guy come up to me and ask me about it! He’s active in his mosque and wants me to be part of an interfaith conference. I reckon I’ll go. Kathy asked him, “Do you guys like Americans in Palestine?” “Oh, yes! Many people want to come here to study.” He was from Bethlehem. How cool is that?

Came home to work on admin duties then over to Azalea to work with the ladies at the mission. We had Ashley with us too! Yeah!

a

Went by the church first. MORE boxes of school supplies! Cool. One of them was from a church in Waco, TX–home of Baylor University where I went to school. I thought that was uber.

The kids at the mission where their usual helpful selves with the labels. Sure do love those kids!

l

The ladies did a great job with the Bible story, craft and ESL classes!
e

l
s
b

s

We also helped with homework. Mission was packed!
t
We gave many of the kids balls and dolls, thanks to the churches sending us gifts for the Christmas in August project. That’s great!

b

They really liked the pump that blew up the balls!
p
s

After the mission, we went to Walmart to pick up supplies then back home to finish off my admin duties!

Looking forward to a day off tomorrow! Haven’t run in over a week. Not good!

Not the best parking job Mr. Marta cop!
c

Sounds like something I would say!
w

I love Chamblee!
ch

I dig these shoes!
