Greenhouse! Laundry! Goodwill! Nana! Trim! 6.21.25

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:23 pm

I like this.

Always more vocabulary. Endless, really. Slang keep getting added.

Watered the plants in my Greenhouse.

Anytime my washing machine starts to smell weird, I run one of these.

Did my laundry. I do small loads daily if I’ve been working outside.

OYB!

Español!

Getting hotter. High humidity makes it a sweaty mess when you’re working outside. It’s one reason why I did all the planting when it was still cool. And clouds of mosquitoes.

Went to Goodwill. I was looking for a backpack I could put my guitar stuff in. One of the things I like about my Spark GO amp is that it’s tiny. About the size of both your hands put together. So everything can fit in a backpack.

I’m always on the look out for hats. Especially white ones.

Went to Stone Mountain to record Verbal Surgery. “Sweet Talk” is a great episode. Releases tomorrow. The park is so beautiful.

Called Nana. Always great to chat. So excited that she’ll be here soon. Bwana asifiwe!

I trimmed the yard. Takes a little longer than mowing, but SO much better.

Keeping it trimmed actually helps the monkey grass which is what I transplanted.

I put a box of K’s stuff in my car to take to the dumper at work.

I sprayed myself down thoroughly twice during my yard work vigil.

While I was clearing out this area, a yellow jacket tagged me. Felt like a hot needle going into my ankle. Not zesty. I sprayed them down but the can I used was almost empty. I have two more cans coming from Amazon.

Hauled off more branches. I put them in my compost area.

Trimmed near the driveway and street. Clean up is usually the last job.

Good exercise. Enough to make me sore. I listened to Don Cheto while I worked.

I’ve been stung by yellow jackets a lot. The stings can be very different. Sometimes, they shoot me with a lot of venom and it really swells up and changes color. Other times it’s a relatively minor thing. Hurts first, then eventually itches.

Looks like I’ll make the top three this week. My score is low because twice this week Duolingo did maintenance during my study time.

PEK! Shoes! Solstice! Blow! Branches! 6.20.25

Tim A. Cummins @ 7:13 pm

Summer solstice!

OYB!

Scrubbed our shoes.

Studied the times for the pool. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out to go today. We thought Miles was coming to pick them up early.

Español!

Duolingo did maintenance while I was studying. Had to stop.

I took my passport renewal application to the Post Office. According to the lady at the desk, the USPS no long gives a guarantee on an overnight delivery. They don’t give a delivery guarantee on ANYTHING now. Wow.

Jessi is making yogurt. Healthy!

K and I took the girls to Hot and Cold. Kathy loved it. I thought it was pretty good.

They love to laugh.

Heat dome a coming.

Blew the driveway and deck. There have been a LOT of storms recently. I picked up sticks for about an hour. I maintain about a half acre of land.

I put all the branches into my recycle area pit. After 30 years, it still hasn’t filled up.

Nice to have a clean driveway. I hadn’t blown it in a week. Lots of branches.

Keep going.

Spark! PE! Strike Set! Bank! Christ Church to Plaza Fiesta! 6.19.25

Tim A. Cummins @ 6:47 pm

This sounds really hot.

This guy. Wow.

I’ve really enjoyed playing with my new Spark amp. My guitar sounds fantastic.

OYB!

I appreciate K doing this.

Español!

Felt good today.

Supposed to be dry next week. We’ve been super wet lately.

Love my girls!

I set up for the show then worked with the girls on multiplication tables.

Big storms blew through but didn’t affect the team. Amen.

After we had our D-Day, I struck the set. Always try to leave it better than I found it.

I put new garbage bags in and tried to fix the trash can. The lid opening device isn’t working correctly. I don’t think it’s broken. I tried to fix it twice to no avail.

Picked up checks, processed and deposited them. Thank you so much, Father. You’re so good to me.

Competition.

I had a great time with Christ Church today for our D-Day celebration. I set up the Landing Pad. Over 2,000 names!

I took them to Taco Veloz for lunch.

Then to Plaza Fiesta. What a marvelous place.

They did great at the Mission. Amen.

Trashcan! PE! Storm! Christ Church! 6.18.25

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:49 pm

I had to throw out a gross bag of garbage this morning. Some water had got into the can at the bottom and was stinking. Not the best way to start the day. I washed it out thoroughly and dried it and put a new bag in.

OYB!

Ordered groceries.

Picked them up on the way home.

Español!

Always great to see my girls!

Love to hear from supporters!

Don’t stop. Language learning is all about longevity. There’s a gigantic amount to learn and you have to know it instantly.

Had a great time with my team from Christ Church today! We had fun at The Show then took them to eat shawarmas at Al Madina.

Kitab bookstore was also interesting.

Safari to the BAPS temple. They were impressed.

Then to Global Mall to see the Ganesha temple.

They liked the butterfly picture spot.

We went to Azalea to check on the teams but a big storm blew through. Tremendous amount of lightning. I told the team to leave the Mission and go back to the hotel. Disappointing but you have to be safe.

PEK! School! Lowes! Storms! Christ Church! 6.17.25

Tim A. Cummins @ 7:57 pm

This is not good.

Ordered a stapler, specifically to affix my passport picture to the renewal form.

OYB!

Great to see my girls.

I get to FBC Doraville about 8:00 AM. The girls start school work while I’m setting up for The Show.

Great to have time with them.

Went to Lowes to make some copies of the FBCD key. I’m going to let the team use the kitchen at the church one evening.

It was kind of a hassle to print a receipt. They don’t do that for you.

I texted the Pastor about how the shrubs the city of Doraville planted are now blocking seeing the road as we exit the church parking lot. It’s dangerous. He said he would talk to the city about it.

Ran into substantial rain on the way home.

Keep going.

Great time with my team from Christ Church in Birmingham, AL! I took them to Pho 24 for Vietnamese food. Then over to see Asian Square and China Town.

Great job at the Mission.

Duolingo! PEK! Gas! Bills! Christ Church! 6.16.25

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:05 pm

I came in fourth place in the Duolingo League Diamond Finals last week. I probably would have been in the top three except for maintenance issues that Duolingo had when I was studying.

OYB!

Got hot today.

Great to see my girls.

Riding horses at Waffle House.

Ben is bringing a team to work with us. Tried to give him an initial phone call to start the relationship. Left a voicemail. At least he knows I’m trying.

Gassed up my car and checked the oil.

Paid medical bills for J and K.

Don’t stop. Won’t stop.

Had a fun time with my team from Christ Church in Birmingham, AL. Took them on Safari to the Buford Highway Farmer’s Market.

We had a great time at Azalea!

Emissions! Passport Picture! No Kings Day! Bike! 6.15.25

Tim A. Cummins @ 5:15 pm

Be on the right side of history.

I’ll call him tomorrow.

OYB!

Español!

Dr. Bill is having issues with his website again. Bahd luck.

I got the emissions test done for my car. Passed!

I got the renewal request in the mail immediately after he printed off the certificate.

Next stop was to Walgreens to get my passport photo shot. She had to fix the black stripe and the picture wasn’t quite 2″x2″. It was about 1/8″ smaller which would have made it difficult to staple. She printed it again I cut the picture exactly to size requested.

Rode my bike 12.39 miles. I actually broke over 10 mph which is really fast for me. I cleaned my bike and put a wire on my bottle rack to hold it on better.

I was pretty tired when I got back. It was hot and humid.

Feeders! Shoes! Podcast! Passport! 6.14.25

Tim A. Cummins @ 4:53 pm

Painted my shoes and got more paint.

OYB!

Español!

I cleaned my hummingbird feeders and hung them out. I need to start doing that weekly rather than waiting till the feeder in my window gets low. I read this week how they can start growing bacteria. Usually it depends on how warm it is. I usually sniff it to see it it smells fermented.

I recorded a new episode of Verbal Surgery called “I Eye.” It’s a good one!

Seemed hot and muggy.

It’s exciting to think the Plumeria is going to flower. After ten years!

I put my baby pineapple outside but I think that’s a mistake and will keep it inside.

I rode my bike 6.11 miles. I planned on doing my normal route which takes about 1.5 hours. Almost got caught in the rain. Pulled over before it really came down. It was just a small cell. Waited about ten minutes and it blew over. Went on home.

I have steep hills to ride and it’s not safe when it’s wet. I know. I took a really bad crash and almost went under a car on a wet corner. I never go out when the roads are wet. Weather forecasting is really difficult. These isolated thunderstorms just come out of nowhere.

I applied for a renewal of my passport. The old one was used in Brazil, the UK, Netherlands, Israel, Peru, Guatemala and of course the USA.

My license plate sticker application got rejected because I didn’t put in an emissions certificate. I forgot my new car still has to get it. The Mercury which is what I drove for years didn’t. It was too old. I’ll get the certification tomorrow as well as the picture for the passport.

PE! Azalea! Pineapple Baby! PDK! Door Leak! 6.13.25

Tim A. Cummins @ 7:24 pm

Friday the 13th. Oooooooo. Scary.

Hard to even imagine this level of rainfall.

OYB!

Español!

I’m meeting Ash and the girls at the church rather than at the Mission. Since the family is living there, I don’t have access to a bathroom, which is a hassle. So we just go to the Mission when it’s time for Super School.

Great to see the girls!

I took down some tables and put up chairs to start getting ready for the team that’s coming next week.

I let the manager know about this clogged drain.

Working on multiplication tables.

Sprayed Neem oil on the Pink Magnolia tree.

I was surprised the fence had been knocked down and just threw the branches on top of it. I let the manager know what was going on.

Someone planted pumpkins in front of the Mission.

The kids played limbo.

We went to Lowes to pick up some silicon caulk to keep the water from coming in the fellowship hall. We were also looking for the bathroom. Penelope pointed to this section and said, “There it is. But it could be hard to climb up there.” Teehee.

I’m always finding things for them to balance on. Penelope did fall once, but wasn’t hurt bad.

We went to the Downwind restaurant at PDK airfield. The food is great. The girls are playing a logic game called “Chopsticks.”

In preparation for Super School, we get treats to snack on.

There has been a leak into the Fellowship Hall. I put some silicon caulk on it today.

Clean up.

Letters bounced to Buck Burch who is in charge of Missions for Georgia for the SBC. I just changed the address to what Buck sent me this afternoon.

Deposited checks. Thank you so much, Father.

Short chat with Nana on the way home. We’ve decided it’s not a good idea to talk when I’m driving in heavy traffic. Just too dangerous as it is.

I decided to put the baby pineapple in with the Plumeria.

My shoes got messed up working on that door. It was really muddy.

Penelope left her tablet in my car.

Tight race.

I got a notification that my passport will expire in a year. They suggested going ahead and getting the process going asap for a replacement.

Sent the Pastor an update on what I did today with the door.

PEK! LT! Lilo & Stitch! Basement! 6.12.25

Tim A. Cummins @ 6:25 pm

Jessi gave Everly a spa treatment last night!

I bought this plumeria in July of 2015. I have loved her so much because she reminds me of home in Kenya. It looks like it is starting to flower! Amen!

OYB!

Español!

I took PEK to LT for lunch.

We went to the movies to see Lilo and Stitch. We really enjoyed it.

Everly helped me clean out all the junk out of our storage area by the water heater. Some of the stuff I put in dumpster. The rest I put in my car to take and chuck at the church dumpster. There’s always plenty of room in that one.

After moving the stuff out, I swept the area.

I cleaned the rest of the room as well.

One of my Anker batteries has been recalled. It was one of my favorites. I took it with me to the Guatemalan jungle. It fit well in my pocket and I took it everywhere. Not losing power (GPS) while I was hiking was absolutely necessary. Amazon said that the battery could blow up or catch fire. That’s not zesty. I need to check the serial number before I get too alarmed. My guess is that it had a problem while it was being charged.

This is the finals of the Diamond league in the Duolingo competition. Some good students.
