Outreach Prep! Azalea

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:41 pm

Spent most of my day working towards the ten Outreach Events that I’m hosting this weekend!
t
I contacted the ten managers and directors of the missions of the sites to let them know about the parties.

Also went by Party City and Kroger to pick up the last of the materials that we need.
p
g

Still need to print up the maps for the teams.

Went by Briarcliff Baptist Church to distribute all the materials into the ten team bags. All of that takes time!
e
Here’s the content of what each team will have: couple of packs of cookies, large jump rope, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, face paint and brushes, twisty balloons and a kick ball!
b

Then over to the office to check on the mail.

And finally to Azalea to help the kids with their homework.

I was proud of Roger helping me clean the mission!
r

And Rashawn with his project on Ben Franklin. He has the same birthday as Ben . . . and my Mom! January 16th!
r

I was hoping to go to part of the conference tonight at Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church this evening, but I was just too tired.

Looking forward to hearing President Carter speaking tomorrow morning.

And of course to the events on Saturday!

Tim A. Cummins @ 12:13 am

Had a fun day with one of my best friends today!
d
I’ve worked with Doug Allison for years. He’s always an inspiration to me.

Jesse, Doug and I enjoyed Cafe Istanbul, before taking a short tour around the International Village.
j
d

Had a good meeting with Cathy Wilson this afternoon. She’s doing a great job at our mission at the Falls.

Then over to work with the kids at Azalea. Always fun!

Ben! Donnie! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 12:18 am

Had a fun day today taking some new friends around the International Village!

Ben Birdsong and Donnie Sisk are the leaders of the student ministry at FBC Pelham near Birmingham, Alabama.
d
It’s always interesting to take folks around and show them what makes our area so unique!

Also great to eat lunch with two of my favorite people Ian and Ruthie North.

Also checked out N. Peachtree Baptist Church and my partner Ed Manderson!
e

After checking out the mission sites, I met up with my family at Azalea to help the kids with their homework.

FBC Duluth! Engagement!

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:27 pm

GREAT day with a twist ending!

I liked the clouds this morning. They sort of looked like frosting on a cake.
c

Ashley, Miles and I went to FBC Duluth this morning.

d
t
Ashley had a question and answer time on stage. I went to provide a little support. She really doesn’t need it!

We had lunch with the Acteens of the church. They were a motivated group of girls.

d
s

After we ate, I took them on a prayer walk of the community across the street from their church and showed them how to interact with people in a friendly way.
s

We then offered to pray with the neighbors. It was fun.
s
Came home to rest.

I got a call from Kathy, who was on her wayback from SC with her brother and sisters. She said she had just received a text from Ashley saying that Miles had asked her to marry him! WOW!

They’re a sweet couple who have been going together now for nearly seven years! I’m sure they’ll be very happy!

Love is in the air! They’re planning on getting married in February at FBC Doraville. That’s the same church where Kathy and I got married. Groovy!

Check out Ashley’s blog for pictures and details on how it happened!

Mining!

Tim A. Cummins @ 7:24 pm

Full moon!
m

Jesse and I had a fun day today!
j
Started out mighty cold!
t
We went to Rayle, GA to get a chance to hunt for amethyst!
a
My buddy, Rodney has a back hoe and digs into a pit.

We then search through what he brings up!
j

We did find some nice crystals, but mostly it was about the fun of being outside “digging in the dirt” as Jesse says! True dat!
j
I’m really tired now. Haven’t done that much digging in years!

We enjoyed walking around the ranch looking at plants, animal tracks and rocks!

Had a fun day with Ashley, Miles and Jesse!

j

This morning I prepped the house for a carpet clean. Looks better!
c
Worked on the Power Point presentation for our mission team. The tech team at Sunrise BC was having problems with it, so I saved it in a different format. Burned a disk and took it to them.

Took the kids out for lunch at Red Robin. Yumbo!

Enjoyed looking at the book store.

And seeing different things at the Flea Market.

Then stopped at Lowes to pick up a couple more tools for our amethyst mining expedition Saturday morning.
a
Groovy.

I’m recording an interview with my friend Mark Edge tonight at 6:30pm for his nationally broadcast radio show: Free Talk Live. They sponsor my podcast Verbal Surgery. Looking forward to that!

K also has an early morning tomorrow as she’s going to Columbia, SC with three of her siblings to visit her Uncle Jack Doverspike. She’ll be back Sunday–which is Ashley’s 23rd birthday!

Podcast! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:18 pm

Got up this morning to do one of my favorite things: record a new podcast!
p
In the spirit of Thanksgiving this episode is called “Thank Full!” It will immediately make you happier! Check it out!

After recording, I went for a 2.25 mile run. Pretty cold and windy.

Glad I bought a bunch of poster boards!

Came home in the dark. Hate that. Beautiful setting sun.
s

Jesse and I are looking forward to going Amethyst mining this weekend. Should be fun. I’ve been collecting rocks for years. This will be the first time to actually dig for crystals.

Tuesday morning I went to Briarcliff Baptist Church who was hosting a meeting of partners interested in what Taking the Church to the People!
bb
On November 17-19th there will be a group of Baptist churches having a conference in Atlanta. Whirlwind Missions will be one of the three ministry sites where people have a chance to work in the community.

Mark Burchek is the main staff person at Briarcliff BC now. He’s been a great partner.
m
I’m looking forward to mobilizing MANY people next weekend!

We enjoyed some delicious Ethiopian food!
f

After our meeting I got some supplies for the mission at Walmart and Office Depot. Then I went on over to Azalea to work with the kids. My family met me there later.
