Podcast! Painting! Groceries! Mission!

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:50 pm

One of my favorite things this morning: Recording!
s
This is a terrific edition of Verbal Surgery called “MakeUnder!” Learn ways to manipulate your brain and mind using your body! Just click on the title and groove!

Cleaned my fish tank.
d
The water is still stirred up when I shot this photo. Hours later when I’m writing this, it’s crystal clear.

I’ve been doing research on Poison Dart Frogs.
s
s
Unless they eat toxic ants from the rain forest, they’re not venomous at all. The frogs I’ve been looking at have all been captive bread, none are from Brazil. Set up for the tank could take a while.

Repainted the hood of my car. The clear coat pain sealant has been degraded due to the hot, Georgian summers. Doesn’t look great, but will keep it from rusting.
s
Went to Walmart to pick up a few items.
s
Took the tax donor letters and put them in the mail.
s
s

We still have a few left, we’re looking for the addresses.

I trimmed the dead growth away on my Venus Fly Traps.
s
I’ve never kept them outside in the cold before. It’s a leap of faith based on things I’ve read.

Enjoyed working at the mission with the kids.

Westside! House Recon!

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:37 pm

Kathy and I enjoyed going to church at Westside Baptist Church this morning. Pastor Ben is always a blessing. Super fired up guy. This scene from church preached to me. Little child, just resting in her father’s arms.
d
Ben has some really cute grandsons.
d
They move really fast.
Enjoyed lunch with Kathy.

Worked on posting some creative writing on my Twitter feeds. I always think of it as Ben Franklin on steroids.
s

This afternoon, K and I met up with Ashley and Miles at a house they were looking at.

Donors! DNow!

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:23 pm

I delivered the financial report to our treasurer this morning.
s

Went to the Post Office to pick up stamps for the donors tax letters.
s
Then over to the Dollar Tree to pick up goodies for the Outreach Events we’re holding tomorrow with FBC Mountain Park. It’s their Disciple Now weekend and Whirlwind Missions is providing the mission opportunity.

I picked up supplies for six locations. Goodies included a couple of small balls, a long jump rope, bubbles, cookies, drinks, nail polish, hearts and heart stickers, crayons and pipe cleaners.
s

The team will tell the story of Zaccheus, Jesus being friend to the lonely. They’ll make little pipe cleaner men and act like they’re climbing a tree.

Then they’ll do a craft where they decorate hearts for their moms.

Also went to Walmart to pick up some of the supplies and do the family shopping.
s
d
After buying the materials, I split them up into separate bags.
s

Took them over to FBC Doraville, in preparation for the briefing tomorrow. The weather is supposed to be really nice: clear and nearly 60. Awesome!

Went by the missions to let the managers know that the teams were coming. Two new managers out of five. It’s a constant turn over.
s

Came home and the weather was so nice that I went for a 5.05 mile run.
s
I took the vest off almost immediately. Lovely weather, just slightly cool.

Ashley! Donations! Mission!

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:35 pm

I enjoyed working with Ashley today! I met her at her house and we went over the wording for the letters showing the contributions to our ministry from our donors. It took a while to figure out how a basic template would look. By the end of the afternoon, she’d done all of them! Way to go, ASHLEY!

I’ll take the letters, sign them and address the envelopes, and take them to the Post Office.

Came home to rest after eating lunch with Ashley.

Then off to the mission to help the kids with their homework.
Fun with googley eyes.

VA Tech! Safari! Azalea!

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:37 pm

Ashley and I had fun briefing the team from VA Tech on Islam, Catholicism and Hinduism.
s

We had our dedication service this morning. They pass the baton and say, “It’s up to ME.”
s

Then on safari to Plaza Fiesta.
s
We met up with the leadership missions team from Perimeter Church.

d
We talked about plans for next Summer with the large team for their youth conference “Gold Rush.”

Always something fun to see at Al Madina. We also took them by the Islamic bookstore.

VA Tech! Doug!

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:04 pm

Ashley and I had a wonderful time briefing our team from VA Tech!

s
They’ve had a group come work with us every year (sometimes TWICE a year!) since 2011!
s

They usually do a substantial amount of labor for First Baptist Doraville as well. FUN to be working with Ashley again!
s

We took them on safari to the Buford Highway Farmers Market.
d
s

They loved Asian Square too! Here I’m extolling the virtues of the Cobra in a Jar in my new, red jacket.
s
s
s
My good friend Doug Allison came to visit us today. Always a blessing!

After Asian Square we took them to the Buddhist Temple to see the door that the Tibetan monks had carved.
s
s
s
s
I think the artwork is beautiful.
s

Then off to organize the mission.
d

I went to Lowes to get some more dry erase marker boards made.
s

I take the waterproof wall board and cut it into 12″ squares. I made 24 for about $15.
s

The guy that cut the boards for me was from Ghana.

I asked him if he spoke Swahili. He said that he didn’t but his girlfriend did–she was from Kenya! He called her on the phone so that I could talk with her. I had fun practicing my Swahili. The things I get into.

I stopped at QT to get a drink and saw my old friend Mrida from Bangladesh.
w
His family was the first to live at Azalea Place Apartments. Back in Bangladesh, he was a lawyer in the Supreme Court.

Now he drives a taxi.

And work with the kids!
s
s

The VA Tech team told the story of Jonah.
s

I thought the crafts were very colorful.
