Westside! Atlanta Botanical! Scott Boulevard!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:05 pm

This morning I wrote my newsletter. I still need to lay out the pictures.

Met up with Kathy at Westside Baptist Church.

I always enjoy Pastor Ben’s sermons.

Ate lunch with Kathy. Then came home to change clothes. Went on safari to the Atlanta Botanical Garden.
s
It was wonderful.

I thought this was fascinating.
s

I liked this dog made of pine straw.
s

They have an exhibit on Poison Dart Frogs. This is the species I’m looking at.
s
Plus a yellow and black version.
s

I loved the orchids.
s

In 2 weeks they will have a special exhibit of orchids with another 1,000 species on display. There are 25,000 species of orchids of which the Atlanta Botanical Garden has 2,500. Whoa.

Almost endless variety.

I liked learning more about the vanilla orchids. They originated in Madagascar.

Darwin was interested in Orchids. He also grew Venus Fly Traps.

I highly recommend getting an Phalaenopsis orchid. They are hardy and the blooms last for weeks!
s

Today I found out where they came from!
s

The grounds outside were interesting, but not particularly stunning. It’s winter. Duh.

I used voice directions for the first time on my phone. It was helpful.

Went to Pet Smart and the Pet Supermarket to see what the prices of equipment for the new tanks would be. It’s a lot cheaper using Amazon and far more variety.

I stopped by Scott Boulevard Baptist Church this afternoon.
s
There was an open door so I was able to go into the old sanctuary and look around. Kind of gave me the creeps.

Kathy’s dad, Bill Doverspike, pastored this church in its prime. K’s sister, Ann, got married there.

K and I enjoyed watching an episode of From Lark Rise to Candleford this evening.

Admin duties now.

I liked the texture and lighting on these bricks.
s
I practiced origami. I liked the paper.
s

Interesting lighting.
s
The sunset was beautiful.
