Rockbridge Christmas! Carl! 12.9.18

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:03 pm

Studied Spanish this morning.

I enjoy memorizing scripture and poetry. This morning I started working on “Do not go gentle into that good night” by Dylan Thomas. I’ve known pieces of it for years, as is true for most of the poems I’ve memorized this year. Now I will master it all.

Went to Rockbridge Baptist Church this morning. It’s always a blessing to meet with them! Today was their Christmas program as well as a joint service with their Spanish congregation. But the main draw for me was that my good friend Carl Barrington preached as well as sang solos. Powerful and moving experience for me.

Watered my plants.

Put food out for the birds.

Spent an hour listening to Spanish radio. Great practice.

Played some God of War.

Rested.

Worked on getting the title ready to transfer for the Mercury that we donated. What a blessing the Barringtons have been to us over the years!

Admin duties now.

It’s cold in my room. I’m practicing typing with my Mac under a blanket to keep my hands warm. It’s a skill I’ve developed over the years!

Barringtons! Rock Show! Car! 12.8.18

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:11 pm

This morning, Jesse and I went to see the Mammoth Rock Show!

Lots of fantastic minerals! And fossils!

Some of the rock “powers” seem kind of silly to me.

Obsessive Crystal Disorder?

We met up with our dear friends Carl and Pat Barrington! What a blessing they have been to us over the years.

J and I brought a chair up from their downstairs area. Glad we were there to be able to help.

Then went out to Los Hermanos for some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had! Wow. I don’t say that lightly!

Great to meet their friend Jeff, too! He’s from San Antonio, such a beautiful city.

In the tradition of immense generosity, the Barringtons gave one of their cars to the ministry today. That is such a blessing. May the Lord richly bless THEM!

We voted for their grandson, Theo, for a photo contest!

Crummy, rainy weather all day long. Glad we had inside stuff to do.

Gassed up the Mercury, our “new” car. It’s actually from 1995!

Listened to Spanish radio, studied and took a nap.

Worked on some documents related to the new car.

Got the insurance squared away for it. I’ll try and go over to the title place on Monday.

Admin duties now.

I’m pulling for Atlanta United to win the MLS tournament this evening!

I’m not much of a sports fan, but I’ve gotten more into it since listening to Spanish radio.

3,500! Jon! Girls! 12.8.18

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:03 pm

Today marks my 3,500th blog post! I started with the encouragement of Ian North. In those days I had to explain what a “blog” was! That it was short for “WeB Log!” Isn’t that something!?

I’ve released over 600 episodes of Verbal Surgery, over 600 videos on YouTube, and over 300,000 pictures on Smugmug! That’s a whole lotta Mr. Tim! JACK! Good times!

Studied Spanish last night and this morning. That’s not unusual!

Radio Garden for listening to Madrid.

I still learn words every day that I hear or read.

One of the challenges is MULTIPLE meanings for the same word. Like “sale.”

Over 50 different flavors for the word!

Went to visit my friend Jon Paul this morning. He got tied up getting meds for his wife, Linda. It was great catching up with her! I’ll see Jon next week.

One of my resolutions is to start regular meetings with people that mean something to me. If I don’t set up a time, they don’t happen!

Released Verbal Surgery -616- “Turn Key.”

Make yourself even better and feel good, NOW! Just click on the title and GROOVE!

Uploaded to my server.

Link on Facebook.

Deposited checks for the ministry. Amen!

Jesse wants to start lifting weights again. I had the girls illustrate just how big this bar is!

Took the girls to eat at Taco Veloz. Anthony Bourdain’s favorite place in the ATL!

I’m always trying to teach her words in Spanish.

Love this baby!

Although she’s not really a “baby” any more!

Looking forward to this tomorrow! I’ve picked up some of my favorite pieces from this place!

My new process of learning Spanish involves listening to one of my best friends, Tito Ruiz, preaching! He’s the only pastor I know that preaches in English and immediately translates into Spanish. GREAT sermons and a super way to pick up language. I translate what he’s saying while he’s preaching then repeat how he translates it.

Great to pick up Bible vocabulary.

Saw this on the way home. Looks like my kinda guy.

One of my favorite apps for sure! Get it!

At least an hour of this every day.

With the advice of Tito, I got this Kindle version this evening. I’m really looking forward to using it at church.

I’d been trying to get an app. This will work better.

3,501 tonight!

Girls! Bank! Mission! 12.5-6-18

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:02 pm

Wednesday I studied Spanish.

I produced our newsletter and sent it to our friend Joel Harrison at the Atlanta Metro Baptist Association.

Deposited checks at the bank.

Helped the kids at the mission.

After the mission, I took the girls home with me to spend the night.

After they went to sleep, I worked on Spanish some more.

I got maybe five hours of sleep. Better than normal. Glad they were healthy and not coughing a lot.
This morning, I met up with Ashley for breakfast, then went to the bank to have a meeting with Bill and Piper Cordrey. We added Piper to our signature card for our account at Whirlwind Missions.

Got gas. Can’t remember the last time it was under $2.00.

Came home for a brief rest, then went to the mission to help the kids.

Classic “bunny ear” humor.

Got the mail at the church.

Also dropped off my orange maracas to our storage room.

Now I feel it’s safe!

I went to see the movie Bohemian Rhapsody on the way home. I was a big Queen fan, so I really enjoyed the movie.

Tried to get onto the Secretary of State for Georgia’s corporation web site to change names for our officers, log in problems prevented it. Probably because our account was up to date for this year already.

Verbal Surgery! Mission! Test! 12.4.18

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:50 pm

I love this poster that Ashley created for our Christmas party!

Listened to radio from Madrid,Spain on Radio Garden for over an hour last night.

Had a fun conversation with my buddy Anthony today. He had to hold the phone pretty close so he could hear me. Nice shot of the top of his head.

Studied Spanish.

After talking with Anthony about the Big 5 Assessment test, I was intrigued and invested in it, too. The results weren’t very surprising, yet still interesting.

I released a new episode of Verbal Surgery -615-
“Second Place.”

I recorded “Time Lyin'” this morning. That means I’m nearly three weeks ahead of schedule. Which tends to confirm the Big 5 results.

I voted in the runoff for the Secretary of State in Georgia. I actually had to go to two places since the first location I went to only handled advance voting. I feel so strongly about this election that I took the other twenty minutes to vote at the other location. It was still super fast.

Went by the church to check the mail.

To the mission to help the kids.

I had fun talking with my pal Tito Ruiz last night. I got the app for his church so that I can start listening to his sermons which are particularly useful to me, because he preaches in English then translates into Spanish. I translate into Spanish as he’s talking then I have the opportunity to see how close I was to how HE translates. I’ll spend hours with this in the future. Used it for nearly an hour just today!

My friend Anthony has been in Peru teaching a course in Lima. He bought an Inca mask. I showed him mine from when I was there.

I spent about thirty minutes this evening updating material to my Twitter feed, which is my version of Sermon Notes.

Admin duties now.

I’ll also study more and probably play some God of War.

Board Meeting! 12.3.18

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:06 pm

Listened to Radio SER till around midnight last night.

Studied Spanish this morning.

Enjoyed lunch with the children and girls!

Great chat with my buddy, Anthony, who is in Peru right now.

Got my tickets for Todd Rundgren for next April. This will be great!

Had a good time at the mission with the kids.

I LOVE this baby!

Gorgeous sunset.

Went by Walmart to pick up some goodies for the board members.

Excellent Board Meeting this evening. GREAT to see my friends again. Many positive things discussed. New President of our Board, Bill Cordrey did a wonderful job.

Westside! Bike! 12.2.18

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:10 pm

Studied Spanish this morning.

Turned in November mileage. Less than normal due to road trip and bad weather.

Went to Westside BC this morning.

Very mild today.

Brother Roger came back to lead the music this morning. Since I had seen him, he’d performed at Carnegie Hall in NYC. Wow.

Pastor Ben spoke on the Gift of Jesus.

Here’s what the theme for the next month or so is. The Great Commission.

After church, I went to Eastside Medical Center to see my friend Joyce. She’s doing better! Thank you, Lord!

My cholestrol was high so I’m back to eating at home and staying away from fried stuff. Although I do sneak some potato chips from time to time. I won’t be buying them in the future!
Went for a bike ride today. I’m trying to take it easy since I’m coming off of a long lapse due to being sick. I listened to Radio Garden from Madrid most of the time.

I liked the sound of this.

I actually saw two dead snakes in the road today. Neither were venomous.

Possible meteorite?

Watered my plants.

I’ve moved most of my carnivores outside. They need a dormant period. I have them in a clear plastic box. I move them back inside if gets under freezing.

Cleaned the birdbaths and filled feeders.

Rained about 2″ last two days.

I’m enjoying the God of War game. Norse based mythology. Incredible graphics.

Cleaned my fish tank.

Took Kathy’s truck to get worked on at T and G.

Girls! 11.31-12.1.18

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:02 pm

Studied Spanish Friday and Saturday. Using Radio Garden, Clozemaster and Duolingo in particular. These little dots represent internet radio stations. One of them that I listen to regularly is called Cadena Ser. it is in the center of that circle which is located in Madrid, Spain.

I talked to my good friend Carl Barrington about the Coue method. Perhaps you have heard the phrase, “Every day in every way I am getting better and better?” Powerful stuff!

Ashley brought the girls over around 1pm on Friday afternoon. Penelope was asleep at the time.

Everly and I were downstairs playing with bubbles until she woke up about thirty minutes later.

Then we went to the “doggie park.”

A front was blowing through. I loved the high level clouds.

Everly loves the swings!

We had fun on the see-saws too!

Wore Everly out!

Came home for supper and bath time. They went to sleep around 9:30pm. They were up quite a bit, especially Everly who had kind of a bad cough. I got about six hours, maybe.

I beat Horizon Zero Dawn last night. What a great game. I’m playing “God of War” now. Graphics are amazing.

Enjoyed our time together Saturday morning. Ashley picked them up around 11:30am.

Rested. Then went to Walmart for groceries. Whenever I’m in line anywhere, I pull out my phone and do some Clozemaster Spanish.

Studied more Spanish. Listened to Madrid radio.
