FBC Jonesboro!

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:54 pm

Had a terrific group of young people from First Baptist Church Jonesboro with me today!

They’re a choir group of High School students. They sang great!

I gave them my “Take you to Cambodia” briefing along with my explanation on how to round up the kids at the apartment complexes.
t
Then we went for a tour of the Buford Highway Farmers Market, one of my favorite places in the world!
k
m

At the end of the tour, the choir sang in the lobby. WOW! It was an amazing experience!
c

It was great to have Angela from Dunwoody Baptist Church ride along with us!
a

Had a quick lunch at FBC Doraville and then off to the missions!
d
They have a big bus. They don’t get any bigger: 56 passenger!
b

I had figured out the route that the bus will go to drop five of their teams to 10 locations around the International Village. My plans came off without a hitch!

The kids did a wonderful job with the children at the apartment complexes.

Ashley and I went by Azalea to see our kids!
m

We also talked to Ruthie North and her sister in law, Lisa over at Huntington Creek! Glad to see them!
l

Back to the church for a quick supper, then to Pearl Lane for a big outdoor concert! It was wonderful to see all the adults come by and listen to the singing.

I did my best to translate what the choir director was saying into Spanish. They seemed to get it, so I guess I did ok. Julie Cook is one of the best choir directors I’ve ever seen!
j

Ashley got home after 10pm. Long day. And I still have admin duties.

It’s a weigh of life, baby.

I can’t believe I missed the King Kong Robot. Dang!

Fellowship! Podcasts!

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:40 pm

What an awesome final day with the Fellowship Bible Church kids!
k

We had a terrific time with them this morning showing off the International Village!

We took the kids to the center of the Indian/Pakistani population which is at Global Mall!

g
d

Enjoyed teaching them a bit about Hinduism.
h
i

The funny thing was that there was a Hindu family there while I was giving my presentation. I told them thank you for their patience. They said, “Thank YOU! We learned so much about our religion from listening to you speak.” I thought that was hilarious, and kind of sad at the same time.

The girls enjoyed getting a henna tattoo. Beauty! Hope their moms are ok about it!
h

Then over to Madina to look at a little of how the Muslim world is!

My friend Abdul made some of the best somasas in Atlanta for the kids!
a

We also looked at the Islamic bookstore there.

Then over to the missions to work with the kids. They did a fantastic job in all 14 locations!

The team bought the kids new Bibles! They were thrilled with that!
b
bb

They also made bead bracelets for the kids.
b
bb
l

b

They had balloons for the kids, too! They wanted me to sign one. Sure!
t

Ashley and I shot video and took pictures. GREAT teamwork!
a

For a treat, we stopped at Goodwill to look for tshirts. Then next door to look at a antique store.

I dig the little surprises I bought for myself.

Yoda!
y
And a tiny hand print from 1958–my birth year! Groovy little hand of Peggy Ann–My mom and daughter’s names combined!
h
Came home to work on admin duties and PODCASTS! I always enjoy being creative. You may remember that I went over 10,000 downloads last week. Had a new high of 376 downloads in one DAY on June 1st. That’s a lot of grooviness, baby!

Two of my favorite themes today!

YOU can make a difference because we’re all connected. “Every drop in the ocean is connected. Just like humanity!” Don’t wait! Click on this one right now!

And this is a new favorite! “Imagination is more important than memory!” Use your powerful mind to build a wonderful new future NOW!

I really enjoy making podcasts. They are some of my best work. Today’s the day to give one a ride!

Tomorrow I start a new team: FBC Jonesboro, a wonderful church. They’ll be riding in a big bus. That always stresses me out a bit. Went the circuit in my car just to verify the route.

I liked this truck!

They really enjoyed the water balloon toss!
w

Came home and worked the phone for about an hour and a half calling managers and directors about the team schedule for the next ten days.

Always good to get that knocked out.

Went over to Stone Mountain to swim in the pool and cool off.

GREAT day!

Back to admin duties. . .

CIBC! Kathmandu! Teams!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:59 pm

K and I went to Clarkston International Bible Church today!
c

We took the Lord’s Supper. Always a powerful moment.
c
Pastor Phil Kitchin spoke from the book of James. Always great stuff, on a subject I’m particularly interested in: watching your mouth! Had a lot of people join the church!
p

I saw this sign on the side of our church. Kind of made me sad.
s
Kathy and I went to eat lunch today at our favorite Vietnamese restaurant, and it was GONE. Bahd luck.
k
It had changed to the Kathmandu Restaurant. It was ok. Not nearly spicy enough for my taste.
s

Made me think of Ian. He went to the base camp of Mt. Everest.
e

The owners were from Pokhara. I visited their town back in 1982. Dang, I must be getting old! Sure have squeezed a lot of grooviness in my 52 years!!

Ashley and I worked with our team from Fellowship Bible Church this afternoon.
at
We took pictures and shot video at 9 locations. Plenty to do to keep us busy. The team is made up of middle schoolers. They’re doing a wonderful job!

I took a picture of this old fire engine. Awesome!
f

I liked these posters.
e
m

They were right across from each other. I smiled when I thought of Mother Mary listening to Elvis!

Mobilizing Partners!

Tim A. Cummins @ 7:49 pm

Had a fun day with my partners from Mobilizing Students and some of our mission directors!
m

It was awesome to see Keith and Cornelia Harrell.
k
As well as Ian and my family!
j
i
We had a great lunch at Penang in Chamblee. Malasian food rocks, baby!

Then I split up the team to the various 14 locations where we’ll have folks going tomorrow.

Had to make some last minute changes when I realized how COMPLETELY changed one of the locations was. WOW! Literally every single resident who had lived there before had moved out. I’d never seen anything like it.

Fortunately, I always have a Plan B. And many times it works out even better!

Came home and took a dip in the pool at Stone Mountain.

Thought about going to Monty Python tonight, but decided to wait. I know Jesse wants to go with me.

Spamalot!

Admin duties tonight before the team adventure tomorrow!

I liked this addition to the radio antenna.
s

Interesting.
d

Awesome hood ornament.
h

One of my new t-shirts.
t

My other one.
nm

I dig this license plate.

YMCA! ACCCN!

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:32 pm

Had a great time with a new team in Roswell today from the YMCA! They’ve done an awesome job with me in the past in Chamblee. I was glad they were willing to work closer to home this summer!

The team was very motivated at Concept 21–Roswell.

Came home a little earlier than usual. J and I went to the pool to enjoy the water on another hot day. But not as hot as yesterday!

Helped Kathy put together some pictures for some of her mothers she works with in Clarkston.

I thought this was an interesting quote.

We went up to Roswell to work with our team from the YMCA.
