Run! Mission! Power!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:50 pm

This morning I had a 5.03 mile run around my neighborhood. Beautiful outside!

Kinda hot though.

I like my new hibiscus planters.

s

Worked with Ashley and Jesse at the mission. Lot of homework. I’ve been quite surprised by how much homework for the first week!
s
s
s
s

One of the projects we worked on was a show and tell about yourself. I took pictures of them and with their family for the poster.
s
They also told 8 Fascinating Facts and a list of everything that they liked.

I taught Julie how to hold a pencil and start writing the letter A. Haven’t done that in a while.
s

As I was on my way home from the mission, Kathy told me about the big storm in our neighborhood that knocked out the lights. Sure enough, near our house I saw where this tree had fallen on the wires.
d

I found it interesting watching the men string new wire and tie it into the system.
d

Power was out for about 5 hours from 6:30 to 11:30pm. My room by candle light.
x

It was kind of interesting being so quiet and dark in the neighborhood.

Sometimes the mistakes turn out to be the coolest shots.

Yard! Cleaning!

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:31 pm

Saturday I worked on my yard.
m
s
I mowed almost the whole 1/2 acre.
y

Also took the bricks out from around the mail box. I’m going with to large pots with hibiscus in them instead. Those bricks were too hard to mow around.

Two years ago Jesse and I drilled holes and put mushroom spore into this oak tree that had died.
s
I finally seeing something that looks like mushroom growth.
s

Went to see Expendables III. What a disappointment.
s

K and I watched All is Lost. Pretty good.

Sunday morning I worked on cleaning the house. Mopped and vacuumed.

We enjoyed lunch with Jesse.

Then took him to Walmart to get groceries.

Got gas. Glad to see the prices going down.

I know people who could use some extra relaxer.

Marietta Recon! Zoo!

Tim A. Cummins @ 11:43 pm

Thursday, Ashley and I did a recon of missions in the Marietta area.
b
We enjoyed lunch at Sabor do Brazil.

Then went by Eastside Baptist Church to talk with some of the teachers about doing service projects with us.
s

Over to First Baptist Marietta. They are between youth directors right now.
m

And to Roswell Street Baptist Church to speak to the Brazilian pastor.

Looked at the antiques on the square near the church.
a
s
Went by Dwell apartments to speak with our friend Hessel who is the owner.
s
Glad to tell him about the Tates moving into the area.
s

Then back to Chamblee to work with the kids at the mission. Lot of work for the first week of school for sure.
t
s
s
Continued working on the DVD promo project. Takes time if you’re doing 75 of something. Even if we don’t need them all we can send them out to future prospects.

Friday morning Kathy and I met up with Jesse and Ashley in Clarkston, then went to the Zoo to meet up with Miles.
m
j

We enjoyed eating at 6 Feet Under for lunch. Right across the street from the cemetery.
x

Then off to the animals! Jesse always says that the humans are the most fun to watch.
h

Pandas were my favorite today.
p
p
s

Although the gorillas were also groovy.
g

And the Three Banded Armadillo was so cute.
a
The Orangutan looked wise to me.
w

It’s great having Miles work there. It opens up another level of interest for me at the zoo. I love plants!

One of my favorite new things at the zoo were the Cool Fog machines that blew microdroplets of water on you. You felt cool, but not wet.
d

Some beautiful houses near Grant Park near the zoo!
s
s
Some still need work.
w
Came home to rest and continue the DVD project. Today, I focused on doing the labels for each disk and putting them into envelopes. Took hours.
h
d

Enjoyed watching All Is Lost this evening with K. We also started the second season of Homeland.

DVDs! Olga! Mission!

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:44 pm

Unbelievable cool today. Awesome!
c

Still burning DVDs for the promo project. If all goes well I’ll finish burning them all this evening.

In fact, one just popped out then. Had to load up another one.

Had a good talk with my partner Olga this morning. I’m walking her through the process of getting established with the North American Mission Board.

Went for a 3.55 mile bike ride and ran 3.37 miles. Always something interesting to see!
d
Tiny mushrooms.
s
Dirty money I found.
s

Lightning strike.
s

VIC.
x
I hope this guy doesn’t use his shotgun on real people.
s
I found this disturbing too.
c

Worked at the mission with Jesse. Sure has been busy, especially for the first week!
k

Podcast! DVDs! Mission!

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:52 pm

Had fun recording a new podcast this morning! That’s the first Verbal Surgery I’ve put out in nearly two months. My voice is just shot during the Summer. Leave it on the field, baby!
s
I like this edition called “Bells and Labels.” How to get things done. Just click on “Bells and Labels!”

I enjoyed this quote. It reminds me why I do things.
s

The mushrooms are fruiting at my house!
m
s

Talked at length with two partners this afternoon. Good to hear from them! Paul and Matt are two of my favorites!

Enjoyed working with the kids at the mission.
v
Ashley got some more school supplies. Way to go Team Ashley!

Burn! Post! Mission!

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:09 pm

Over 2″ of rain this weekend. Wow!
r

Started early this morning burning DVDs of our promotional video that Ashley and I did last year. Thankfully, the content is still current!
s
We’ll be going to a youth pastors conference in Jonesboro in a couple of weeks. We’re getting 75 packets together for each of the leaders.

It’s not hard burning the disks, but it takes a lot of babysitting. Every five minutes, I have to click a few buttons and load a fresh dvd.
d
d
Posted some creative writing to my twitter feed.
a

Downloaded a new book on Audible.
a
Went for a 5.05 mile run. I didn’t expect to go nearly that far since my foot is still hurt. Weirdly, it was more comfortable to run than to walk. Different pressure on the balls of my feet. Beautiful outside. Not too hot.
c
s
s
s
a
h
I liked what they did to protect the river from eroding the land.
s

Enjoyed seeing the kids at the mission this afternoon! Ashley did a ID project with them. She’s always so creative!
a

Had a group from Global Frontiers come by to visit with me today. Fun to meet others interested in the International population.

Ate supper with Jesse. Always good!

Came home to work on admin duties.

Enjoyed watching American Ninja Warrior with K. Never too much K!

Back to working on burning dvds.

I saw this beetle this afternoon. It was as long as my index finger. Haven’t seen a beetle this big since living in Kenya.

Shopping! FBC Mountain Park! Rest!

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:55 am

Kathy and I had a restful weekend after our trip to Madison this week.

I’m trying to let my voice recuperate from the Summer and my foot still hurts. I can walk pretty normally now, but every so often I’ll bump it or step on it wrong and WOW! It can really get my attention. Looking forward to recording and to running. BOTH I’m not able to do right now.

Did the shopping on Saturday. Always something interesting to see.
s
s

s

Sunday, Kathy and I went to FBC Mountain Park. What a great service! Music and and Pastor Paul were both terrific.

Hung out at the house and rested.

Getting ready to start a big promo project for a conference later this month. I’m burning 75 dvds. That’ll take some time.

I wear this around during the day, just to slow me down.

Beautiful architecture at the Blue Willow Inn.
s
s

Later I was regaled with stories of how the upper part of the house is haunted. Interesting.
s

Look at the original size picture of the upper room. See if you see a face in the mirror!
d

I had the best strawberry ice cream cone EVER at Scoops!
s
s
A few weeks ago Jack Black was making the new movie Goosebumps there. They said he came in twice for ice creamQ

We rode a lot on the bike. Over 20 miles in three days.
s

I did some geometric chalk drawings.
x
s
And bubbles!

My toe is getting better.

Glad to be home.

Terrific thunderstorm blew through about an hour ago. Here are the raindrops with a flash.

Dog wash at the car wash!

I found .85 cents in change there.

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:43 pm

Got the DVDs to the churches in the mail.
t
d

K and I went to Clarkston International Bible Church this morning.

d
d

Pastor Phil preached on the conversion of Saul to Paul. Always an interesting subject. As my friend in Zimbabwe, Baba Midian once said, “It was a complete turn about.”

Ate at Picadilly with K. We saw the Mayfield family while we were there. They’re some of our favorites from FBC Mtn Park.

Came home to rest.

Admin duties now.
