Cleaned my fish tank.

Deposited checks for Whirlwind.

Got the groceries!
Saw this fire hydrant. Groovy!

Decided to take a dip!

Got my new external battery in. I still can’t find my big one that I took to the Amazon with me. Sad face.

I took some of my carnivorous plants outside to our compost box to get some bugs.

Jesse and I went out for lunch and to see the new John Wick movie. It’s very intense and uber violent, but we loved it.

Got home and rode my bike 14.77 miles.

Admin duties now.

I also packed up a little gift to Mike Mandel who was my host in Toronto. I think he’ll like it.

Matt! Girls! Bike! ISS! 5.20.19

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:52 pm

Got up super early this morning, around 5:30 am. Got dressed and took Matt Hale to the airport. He caught a flight to Miami. Later today, I believe he was headed to Cuba!

Mr. Google was having issues getting me to Chamblee from the airport. Not sure if it was a bad connection or what. The time it was saying it was going to take me to get to Ashley’s was crazy talk.

Took me through a really interesting tour of Midtown and Downtown for sure! It reminded me of when Kathy and I first came to Atlanta from seminary days and I worked for GPTV’s program, “Lawmakers.” I drove to the Capital building every day for about three months, before moving to Savannah and working for WTOC-TV. Those were the BK or Before Kids days!

Sure wish I would’ve had Mr. Google in those days! I’d spend hours figuring out ways to avoid the main highways staring at a map!

Studied Español.

Went to FBC Doraville to get the mail. I’ll deposit the checks tomorrow.

Gassed up my car. Glad to see the gas prices going down.

Took the grand girls to Evergreen at Stone Mountain to go swimming. I got pretty burned! I wasn’t really all that sunny, so I was surprised by how I looked this evening!

I had a friend of mine from India invite me to wedding of his son. Should be a fun time!

After the swim, I brought Everly home for a nap. I wanted Penelope to sleep, too, but she wasn’t having it. I crashed for about an hour after my super early wake up this morning.

I got this Viking hat for my buddy Matt’s birthday. I knew he wouldn’t be able to take it in his bag on his travels. I think I can do something funny with it for The Show with the teams during the Summer.

I thought it matched Everly’s hair pretty well!

Rode my bike 14.71 miles. Quoted Bible verses and poetry the whole time. I’m working on a new piece now that I really like titled, High Flight by John Gillespie McGee, Jr. Fantastic poem!
Gorgeous clouds.

It was almost dark by the time I got home. Refilled and cleaned all the birdbaths.

Usually, I can Spot the Station once a month for a period of about three days. This month was no exception. I get a message from my friends at NASA letting me know when the International Space Station will be visible and what direction it’ll be coming from.

Then I use an app on my iPhone called SkyView to track it down exactly.

Here’s what it looks like. Bright star that moves pretty fast and doesn’t blink.

Tonight was my 48th viewing! That sounds like a lot, right?
I memorized a poem by William Wordsworth called “Intimations on Immortality” as well as TS Eliot’s poem, “The Hollow Men” this year. Both have references to your “life’s star.” I set myself to figure out what that star was for me. Basically, it’s the star that’s directly overhead wherever you were born when you were born. It took quite a lot of figuring out, both with geography, math and astronomy. It was still fun to discover. Turns out it’s the main star in the constellation Hercules called Kornephorus.

Tonight I saw it! Pretty nondescript, actually, but there’s a lot of light pollution in my area so kind of hard see.

Fun talk with Bob Burns. He’s always entertaining.

I transported squirrels #58 and #59 today. Wow.

I’m enjoying this book.

I sent out an email to our supporters.

And to my Research List.

That’s nearly 650 youth directors who have never worked with us. Hopefully, they will!
All of my plants seem to be flowering now, even all the carnivorous ones. This is what a Venus flytrap flower looks like. It’s pretty big, too.

I went for a 22.78 mile bike ride. Felt great. I feel more powerful every time.

Beautiful clouds.

I called 911 about this pot hole.

Looks like it might become a sink hole. We have a big one of these at FBC Doraville.

Just saw the International Space Station for the 46th time. Beautiful, clear viewing for nearly 6 minutes! Fantastic full moon.

Marvelous.

Carpet! Mission! Bike! 5.16.19

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:26 pm

Slept!

Brain Training.

I liked this tile art at Metro Cafe where Jon Paul and I went to lunch.

I really enjoy our time together. One of the truly good people in the world and super smart.

My friend Mike Mandel gave me his pendulum. It’s a beautiful piece. My many other odd objects.

After lunch, I finished the carpets. Only had Kathy’s room left.

Cleaned the machine before I took it back to Lowes.

We got over 1.5″ of rain while I was on Safari to Canada.

The front tire on my bike was flat. Took it to Aztec Cycle to be repaired.

While I was waiting, I worked on Duolingo. Today, I finally broke my streak while I was studying Portuguese. 282 was my high score before today.

I’m working on a new piece called High Flight by John McGee, Jr. It’s super good.

I studied while at Taco Veloz.

Went to the mission to help the kids. No homework. We did painting and pushed the trikes and play cars around.

Hilarious.

Full Sun Moon today. My Indian name.

Went for a 14.65 mile bike ride today. Felt great. I was astonished that my legs actually felt stronger after my trip.

Uploaded to server. Put the link on Facebook.

Fun lunch with Jesse.

We also went to ATT to check on getting J another phone. His is just about worn out.
Came home to work on cleaning the carpets. First step is to mix up the solution and do the deep scrubbing.

Jesse finished the deep scrubbing while I went outside and mowed, trimmed and blew the driveway.

Looking good!

This doesn’t include the mowing. This is weeding.

Went to Lowes to get the carpet cleaner.

Incredibly dirty.

After I finished the carpets, I was planning on riding my bike, but my front tire was flat. So I worked on cleaning the bird feeders instead.

I talked with Ashley and because school is almost out, hardly anyone has homework.

Beautiful clouds.

I caught and released squirrel #56 today.
Admin duties now. Caught up with the blog.

Toronto! May 9-14.19

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:47 pm

I had a great trip to Toronto visiting with my buddy Anthony Jacquin, and his dad Freddy. Enjoyed the conference hosted by Mike Mandel and Chris Thompson.

Mike and Chris picked us up from the airport. Went to the CN tower that evening. Fantastic views and something really special.

Above the clouds!

Pretty bad weather the whole time. Rainy and in the 40s and low 50s

I continued to study Spanish everyday, although the streak with working with the Muse was broken. Got to sleep late every night.

I went with the Jacquin to see Niagra Falls. Impressive!

Freddy is great fun, too!

We went downstairs to see behind the falls. Wow!

Toronto is a beautiful place! I loved the architecture.

We went to Chinatown to see the graffiti.

Loved the food!

Lots of cool stuff to see.

Freddy and Anthony did a great job at the conference.

This is where I lived. 57 Gloucester. It was near the University of Toronto where the conference was held.

One of the interesting things is that they had toilet seats that were warm!

This was just a few houses down.

One morning there was a race going on. They weren’t going too fast.

The flowers were just now blooming.

Anthony and I ate at Frans a couple of morning. Excellent!

We ate at a Mexican restaurant called Pancho Villas. It was terrific.

Overall, one of the best trips I’ve ever been on.

Good times.

Jesse! Mission! Rockbridge! 5.8.19

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:49 pm

Sleep!

Brain Training!

Español!

Fun lunch with Jesse! We ate one of the new vegetarian “Impossible Burgers.” It was excellent.

Prep for my trip to Canada includes studying what the weather is going to be like. Cold.

Went to the church to pick up a couple of my shirts to wear for the conference.

Also checked the mail while I was there.

Went to the mission to help the kids with their homework. And of course to get some loving from the Grandgirls!

Research for my flight on Thursday.

After Azalea, I went to Rockbridge BC to speak to their Youth Group. Fun! I talked to them about the difference between Works and Grace religion and gave them my Four Secrets of Life presentation.

Last minute prep for my trip.

My brain gets super revved up for these trips, especially when I’m getting up earlier than normal, around 7:00 am.

Although I have not been able to become completely aware that I’m dreaming when I’m dreaming, (a state called Lucid Dreaming), I have in the last month recorded over 100 of my dreams which has been absolutely fascinating. I’ll keep trying to crack this awareness barrier, but I’m not obsessed with it. I just find it fun to see what goes on when I’m sleeping.

Had fun conversations with Freddy and his son, and my best friend, Anthony Jacquin today. Really looking forward to seeing them in Toronto on Thursday!

While I was at Evergreen Lakes, I saw a family of geese mowing the lawn.

Ate huevos rancheros at Taco Veloz today.

I studied Spanish while I waited for my food. Makes sense.

Also read more of the 4 Hour Work Week, by Tim Ferris.

Enjoyed helping the kids with their homework.

And of course hanging out with the ever delightful grandgirls.
Penelope wanted to show me her new winter coat. Beauty!

I took the girls to Walmart to get shoes. While we were there I saw my good friend Tabias. He lost his Mom recently. Love that guy!

Went to Plaza Fiesta to check on a t-shirt of Anthony. Saw these creepy dolls heads while I was there.

Picked up checks from FBC Doraville and deposited them at the bank.

I also went to China Town to talk to my friend who runs the bookstore there. I told her about the teams coming. She said that my wife had talked about our schedule to her already. I said, “That’s not my wife, that’s my daughter.” She was astonished. I said, “Her husband looks like a male model. Certainly not like me!” She said, “Then you have grandchildren?” “Two of the best!” She just shook her head. Not the first time that’s happened. It always weirds me out.

Beautiful colored clouds.

I’m going to let Ash & Miles use my car while I’m in Canada. I’ll ride the MARTA to the airport. It’ll help them out since the Jesse’s old car, the Nissan Altima (which had nearly 300,000 miles!) finally died. It certainly helped our families out a LOT!

Gassed up my car.

Took the trash/recycle out.

Paid off my Mastercard bill. I always feel proud when I can say I have zero debt.

Admin duties now.
I’ll spend some time wrapping stuff in a moment.

Bob, Ann & Katie! 5.6.19

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:55 pm

Very stressful day today.

Tried my best to help some dear friends. I gave it my best effort. Sometimes we don’t get the results that we want, or that we think is needed.

But we can’t worry about what we can’t do, we just do everything we can do. Leave the rest to the Lord.

During some of the times I was waiting, I worked on Spanish.

The new moon.

Perhaps a day for new beginnings in a very difficult, some would say, “No Win” situation.

Admin duties now. Exhausted.

I was glad that I’ve spent as much time as I have Brain Training.

Coins! Candy! Bike! 5.5.19

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:39 pm

I overslept this morning. Happens. Didn’t make Church.

Brain Training and Español.

My coffee maker wasn’t acting right this morning. Had to go get my kahawa from QT.

Later this afternoon, I completely cleaned it out and discovered a tea bag that was clogging the drain into the heater part. Fixed!

Went to a coin show in Marietta to get some ancient coins for my friends in Canada. It wasn’t this show, but you get the idea!

I’m reading Tim Ferris’ book “4 Hour Work Week.” Some interesting points.

One of the interesting ideas he posits is that the opposite of happiness is boredom. Viktor Frankl said a similar thing.

After the coin show, I went to Sabor do Brazil. Got to practice a little Portuguese.

I like to take lots of small gifts for the people that I’ll get to meet in Toronto. One of my favorites is candy from different countries. I’ll wrap up pieces individually and give them to people I like. On this trip, I’ll also have small pieces of zebra skin, small meteorites and red thread from the Holy Land. People are astonished by stuff like that!

Went by FBC Doraville to check on the mail.

Also took a quick stop at Hoa Da to see my friend Dr. Nguyen. We’ll be bringing teams over there soon!

To the bank to deposit checks. Amen!

Walmart for groceries.

There were three cop cars to cover this accident. How does someone run into a big yellow pole? Ay, caramba!

I decided to learn the Hebrew version of our alphabet! Right to left.

Went for a 14.85 mile bike ride. Not sure why it gives me different distances when I ride almost exactly the same trail! I went slower on purpose today. When your heart rate is slower, you burn fat, but it’s not a cardio workout.

I’ve really enjoyed my bike. So much better for me than running.

I told Ashley I was, “half up.”

Had fun this evening coloring this picture.

Watered my green friends. My plants are really flowering!
