Grandgirls! Grist Mill! Plant ID! 8.10.20

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:25 pm

Studied Spanish this morning.

Still need to do my brain training before I go to sleep.

I’m getting some temporary tattoos for the girls. They seemed to like these the best.

Took them to the Grist Mill at Stone Mountain. They enjoyed walking in the water and looking at the fish.

I’ve got an app on my iPhone called “Seek.” It helps identify the plants that we see in the environment.

We enjoyed going to Evergreen Hotel for lunch.

Had some significant rain showers blow through. Kept me from riding my bike.

July exercise!

Podcast! El Dragon! Bike! 8.9.20

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:29 pm

I studied Spanish and did my brain training.

Little bit cooler day. Looks like a lot of rain coming.

Drank coffee for the first day in months. I was pretty wired up!

The grass seed that the grand girls helped me plant seem to be doing well.

Had a great chat with my buddy Anthony today. Always fun.

Also talked with my Mom. I try to contact her regularly.

I saw the final part of the last episode of season two of El Dragon. I thought the ending was really sad. I watched over 66 hours of that program this year.

Got the groceries.

Recorded a new episode of Verbal Surgery. That’s always good.

Rode my bike 15.21 miles. Rode hard.

Listened to the end of book 4 of the Harry Potter series. Started book 5 Order of the Phoenix.

I also got an idea from Netflix about what series to start next in Spanish. I think I’m gonna go with Alta Mar, which means High Seas. It’s a period piece set in the 40s. Should be interesting.

Beautiful clouds today.

I liked the sunflowers.

Enjoying Far Cry Primal.

Grandgirls! Black Beauty Bike! 8.8.20

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:03 pm

I studied Spanish and did my brain training.

Repaired some small rips in my comforter.

I also got my bedding cleaned.

Miles and Ashley and Kathy went to the funeral service for Miles’ best friend Kevin. I watched the girls while they did that. We had a good time.

I got the dry erase markers out and we worked on zeros and lines.

She also drew some pictures for me. This is us on Stone Mountain.

Everly worked with Play-Doh. I have her roll balls and make snakes. Good for hand coordination.

I painted her fingernails for her.

After they left, I went to Stone Mountain to pick up my bike. It was good to have her back!

I rode my bike 15.15 miles.

It was a hard bike ride. It was hot.

Gorgeous clouds.

I did all the poetry I know and listened to Harry Potter in Spanish and Radio from Madrid.

I watched part of the final episode of El Dragon tonight. It’s the final episode of the second season. They’re 44 episodes in each season and each of them are 45 minutes. That’s a 66 hours of Spanish to watch! I really enjoyed that show.

Grandgirls! Stone Mountain Hike! 8.7.20

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:33 pm

I watched a live launch of the SpaceX rocket to deliver the next round of satellites for Elon Musk last night. That was super cool. It was all live.

It was cool to watch it steadily get faster. It got up to over 8,000 mph!

I studied Spanish and did my brain training.

I set up my VerbalSurgery.com account for another year.

Had a great time with the girls today. We did a hike up Stone Mountain and then down through the bush.

Studied letters.

We thought this looked like a dinosaur head.

I’m interested in teaching them about nature. I have apps that can identify different plants. So even if I don’t know them I can still identify them. Which is awesome.

I can’t believe this little pine tree growing straight out of the rock.

I showed the grand girls one of the chisels that was used to make a ledge on Stone Mountain. Hard to know exactly how long that it’s been there.

Released a new episode of Verbal Surgery called “Future Self.” It’s awesome!

I’m enjoying playing Primal. Such a fun game.

Grandgirls! Squirt Shirts! Bills! 8.6.20

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:23 pm

Studied Spanish this morning.

Still need to do my brain training.

The girls helped me clean out the bird baths.

Then we cleaned and refilled the hummingbird feeders.

I always try to get them to help make their breakfast. They push the buttons on the microwave to heat things up.

We did squirt shirts today.

Doing the rubber bands was a little bit too hard for them. So I got water guns and filled them with ink and they squirted shirts. We had fun with that. First, I had them practice with just water in the guns.

I have fun building them forts and tents.

I caught two chipmunks at the same time. I always let them go in my yard. They live around my house but they don’t try to get in my house.

I only provide taxi service for the seemingly endless supply of squirrels.

Got the groceries. I dearly love the curbside service. Super fast. Like, I get parked and five minutes later I’m leaving with a car full of groceries. Astonished how few people take advantage of a free service (as long as I buy $35 of groceries.)

Paid bills.

I’ve enjoyed playing Far Cry Primal. I have a sabertooth lion that follows me around and protects me. That’s cool. I pet it and it purrs.

One of the tribes that is against my tribe has a lot of standing stone structures. I thought this one was looked a lot like Stonehenge.

The game is set in Central Europe over 10,000 years ago. All the characters speak ancient languages. Proto Indo-European. I’ve enjoyed picking up words and phrases. The game developers hired ancient language nerds to develop the three dialects that the tribes speak.

Grandgirls! Stone Mountain! Bank! 8.5.20

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:34 pm

Kathy and I had fun with the grand girls today. We took them over to Stone Mountain. Unfortunately, all the attractions are now closed except on the weekends. That was a disappointment. We still made it fun and let them climb on rocks and have a good time.

Went to the bank to deposit money. That’s always good. Appreciate everyone’s help with that.

Went to the bike shop to get one of my bikes repaired. This one just had the flat so that was pretty easy to fix. My bike is supposed to be back online this Saturday. That’s great news.

Getting ready for a tie dye project with the girlies.

I still need to study Spanish and do my brain training before I go to bed.

Saw a deer really close up this morning at Stone Mountain.

ISS! Grandgirls! Stone Mountain! Geese! Shoes! 8.4.20

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:55 pm

Last night and this evening I saw the International Space Station for the 59th and the 60th times! It’s been a fun project over several years.

I studied Spanish and did my brain training.

Enjoyed working with the girls. I’m preparing them for a T-shirt and tie-dye project soon. I showed them how we’re going use rubber bands and squirt the shirts with water pistols filled with ink.

I still have a few things to get together before we can do the project. It’s going to be a lot of fun!

Rained slightly over an inch yesterday.

The girls helped me clean out the bird baths and put the food out.

We had fun building a little fort today.

I’m always trying to teach them something about nature. Today we found a katydid.

I used the egg timer to help me keep them still while I brushed tangles out.

I took my first trip inside Walmart in over three months. I needed to get the girls some new shoes and flip-flops. We got all masked up and I put them in a shopping cart.

I figured out a way I could open up the cart so I didn’t have to lift them over the edge. They’re too heavy for me to do that sort of stuff.

I got them some Minnie Mouse and Frozen shoes. They really liked them.

We went to Stone Mountain to feed some geese and the fish that were beside the shoreline. I’m always teaching them to make sure and be clean.

Got groceries, cleaned them, and brought them inside.

It was cooler than it’s been for a while.

Capped off the evening with another viewing of the International Space Station.

I’ve enjoyed playing Far Cry Primal. Nothing much cooler than running through a forest with a white cave lion by my side for protection!

Stars! Tie Eye Prep! 8.3.20

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:07 pm

Did some research on the meteor showers in our area. I’ll be checking that out tonight although it’s pretty cloudy so I’m not optimistic.

I’ll also be looking for the International Space Station.

I have a friend that’s on holiday in Croatia. I’m always curious about where places are and their history so I enjoyed studying about that today.

Getting the stuff together to up to do a tie die session with grand girls soon.

Studied Spanish and did my brain training.

I released a new episode of Verbal Surgery. “Wait-a-bit” is awesome!

Powerful thunderstorms rocked the ATL this afternoon.

I’ve been having fun playing Primal. The video game is about ancient man living in caves and huts. It’s been a lot of fun. The language is some kind of ancient dialect spoken in central Europe. That’s been intriguing to me as well.

Podcast! Garden! 8.2.20

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:33 pm

Always like a cookie!

I’m disappointed how long it’s taking to get my bike fixed. Lots of people riding these days.

Some good movies coming out on Netflix now. Love Never Ending Story.

Studied Spanish and did my brain training.

Cooked some stirfry.

Hot day here in the ATL.

Beautiful clouds.

Got my new Stone Mountain sticker.

Listened to Harry Potter in Spanish.

Got gas in my car and checked the oil.

Watered the new grass seeds that the girls helped put out yesterday.

Helped my sister-in-law make some decisions on a new phone.

Watered my indoor garden.

Recorded a podcast this afternoon called “Just Me.”

I’ve been playing Far Cry Primal. It has a beast master mode which has been a lot of fun. Having a tame lion or wolf by your side is pretty cool.

Grandgirls! Seeds! Study! 8.1.20

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:40 pm

I had a fun day with the grand girls today. We studied hard. It’s always exciting to see them making progress.

We had a good time making chocolate chip cookies. They were delicious.

We cleaned out my bird baths.

They helped me spread some grass seed in the front yard. It’s an ongoing project.

They had a good nap. While they did that, I studied Spanish.

We had fun swinging.

Did my brain training.

I’ve started playing Far Cry Primal. Fun game.
