Español! Anthony! Key! Jaw! 5.21.22

Tim A. Cummins @ 6:33 pm

This should be interesting.

A good reminder.

Español!

I seem to study way more depending on how tight the competition is in the league. I’ve been ahead by a pretty comfortable margin the whole week.

OYB!

Slightly cooler than it has been.

One of my banana plants got knocked over. I put it back up, attached it to a pole and added some more soil to the top. So far it seems ok. Sure do love them.

Adelante!

This is on the 8th Unit.

Had a fun chat with my buddy Anthony. We’ve been out of touch a couple of weeks due to him teaching a conference last weekend.

Harry!

Ashley got a new key for her car yesterday. I got her a large magnetic hide-a-key which unfortunately was still too small. I ordered one off of Amazon which is extra large.

Enjoying playing Horizon Forbidden West and resting.

My jaw where my tooth was extracted is still pretty sore. I’ve been taking an ibuprofen every five or six hours. The doctor said I could take 800mg at a time if I needed to. Taking way less than that.

Grandgirls! Car! Plaza Fiesta! 5.20.22

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:39 pm

I was up around 5:30 AM studying Español.

OYB!

Kathy and I drove to Azalea early this morning so I could get some work done on Ashley’s car. Had to get the VIN and car information from it.

I got two new front tires for her. The old ones were shot.

Adelante!

Also got a new toilet seat for the mission.

Ashley’s car key was also messed up. My mechanic recommended a key guy for me to use. Later today, he came by Azalea and got her a new one made.

I use my buddies at T&G a lot for information.

Talked to my Mom about what luggage we’ll be bringing to Texas.

I was in conversations with my tire guy, my key guy and my car guy today.

Great to be with my girls!

My tire guy has really been great for us. I scheduled a time and I was in and out with two new tires in less than thirty minutes. Amen.

Mr. Richard is a great guy.

After getting the new tires, we went to Plaza Fiesta to have some fun. The Kindergarten graduate!

This looks interesting. I reckon we’ll go to the exhibit. I’ll probably take J with us too.

Went by my office to check the mail and my ficus tree.

Harry on the way home.

Warm day. I tried to keep the girls inside as much as possible.

Went by my sister-in-law’s house this evening to help her with her phone.

Grandgirls! K! Class Party! 5.19.22

Tim A. Cummins @ 7:53 pm

OYB!

Español! I texted my buddy Tito after I read this.

My girls!

Adelante!

Everly’s chalk art. This is supposed to be a popsicle.

Hard news from one of my good buddies in Australia. Also heard that Anthony was exposed to Covid this last weekend. He’s ok. Hope he stays that way!

Everly and I picked up Kathy from work and went over to Huntley Hills for Penelope’s end of the year party. It was a big deal to her that we came.

Blue cupcake lips!

The girls like Happy Meals. I got the McDonald’s app yesterday. Tried it out today. You get free stuff with your order.

We’ve been dealing with gnats at the mission. Hate ’em. I got a can of bug spray. Incredible how happy it made me to spray them.

Harry!

Checked the mail at my office.

Grandgirls! Evergreen! Bank! Podcast! 5.18.22

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:47 pm

I was up at 5:30 AM studying Español. That wasn’t my goal, it’s just the way it worked out.

OYB!

Perfect weather this morning, but got pretty hot this afternoon.

Went to Global Mall to pick up Everly since I didn’t need the pain meds that kept me from driving. Overall, my jaw and teeth feel pretty good. Still sore. I just take ibuprofen during the day.

Love my girls!

Adelante!

Deposited checks. Amen.

Fruit breakfast!

My trees are growing!

My Venus Fly Traps are blooming. Most of the time I don’t let them do that since the plants spend so much energy to flower. I just trim the flowering shoots off. This year I’m hoping to pollinate them with the other VFTs so that they’ll go to seed.

Everly and I went to Evergreen at Stone Mountain to enjoy the swimming pool for an hour. NAPA was having a conference, hence the old car. This time of year the place isn’t busy at all.

We went to the German Bakery for lunch. I cut stuff into really tiny pieces so I could chew it without interfering with my surgical site.

Everly was coloring and I started talking to her. She said, “Shhh. Can’t you see I’m trying to focus.” Hilarious.

I brought lemon squares home from the bakery for Penelope and K. P begged Kathy for hers which she gave to Penelope. Funny.

Penelope is into working on her 1st grade workbook I got her. We did about five pages together. Hope that can be a regular thing during the summer. School ends on Friday. I’ll pick her up at 11:30 AM and we’ll go do lunch together. Next week her family heads to Tybee. That’ll be fun. Then I have them for the rest of the Summer. The girls and Jessi and I will be taking a trip to Texas to see my family in June. K will be holding down the fort here.

The kids at the mission said that they had passed and would be going on to the next class in the fall. I was glad for them. I couple of them were real borderline cases.

I waited outside for about thirty minutes seeing if any of the kids needed help. I worked with Everly while we waited. Eventually, we just came on back in.

While I was with the grandgirls, we played lots of games including charades and hot potato with ZZ Top playing. It was fun.

Harry!

Got the swim gear drying.

Released Verbal Surgery “Rehearsal Reversal.” this evening.

Grandgirls! Jessi! 5.17.22

Tim A. Cummins @ 7:53 pm

Woke up early this morning super nauseated. Kept the fan on me and cooled off and felt better. Couldn’t go back to sleep for hours. I was SO glad that I’d asked Ashley to bring Everly over to my house. No way I could’ve driven over to Global Mall safely this morning.

OYB!

This meant a lot to me this morning when I’m facing a $3,000 tooth repair.

I’ve been on a soft food and liquid diet. Apple sauce and banana smoothies with Kachava. Today Everly, Jessi and I went to El Torerros where we ate beans and rice with some eggs. It was easy to eat. No chips. Duh.

Everly was glad to see me. The feeling was mutual. She is such a sweetheart.

Español!

We picked up some beach toys and coloring books for the Kendall’s trip to Tybee Island next week.

It was great to have Jessi with us. The girls love her.

This seems like an invitation. Lots of construction going on across the street from Azalea.

We spotted this juvenile Red Tailed Hawk this afternoon. He definitely had his eye on something.

Another warm day, but with the low humidity it wasn’t bad.

None of the kids were out today at Azalea. No homework with just a few days left in the year. They’re all inside chilling I reckon.

Went by my office to check the mail.

Harry!

A hubcap came off of the Mercury today. Need to see about getting some kind of replacement. There is a lock lug nut, so the wheel is still secure.

Did some research. Looks like it’s about $65 to replace it. Went ahead and ordered it. Stuff like that missing hub cap drives me crazy.

Dropped off a squirrel.

Gassed up my car and added some oil. Price really jumped up!

Watered my outdoor plants, in particular the liriope and wisteria that I planted a few weeks ago.

Also cleaned out and refilled bird baths.

I was glad I had some short naps this morning and this afternoon. I really was tired after not getting much sleep last night.

Eclipse! Extraction! 5.16.22

Tim A. Cummins @ 7:52 pm

Big night last night with a total lunar eclipse! I was really tired and went to sleep at 10:00 PM. I told myself that if I woke up I’d go check it out. I popped awake at almost exactly midnight to go check it out.

I got this picture from NASA.

Did great on Duolingo. Came out #2 out of thirty people. The lady who beat me must have one of the highest point totals in all of Duolingo with over a million points.

Got bills in the mail.

OYB!

I finally took off the blankets from my bed. Summertime is here!

When I was getting ready to study this morning, I spilled my coffee. Had to wash everything off.

Adelante!

Kathy is having trouble with the windows in her truck. We dropped her car off last night and I took her to work this morning.

While our cars were pulled out, I blew and cleaned our garage.

I’ve been a little nervous about my dental appointment today. I was supposed to have a root canal.

My dentist is the best I’ve ever had. He really is good. He cut the old crown off that had decay under it and cleaned it all up. Unfortunately, the damage was too bad to save the tooth so he had to pull it. That was quite an experience. Wow. Didn’t hurt, but there sure was a lot of pulling to get it out!

After the extraction, he put in material for a bone graft.

In five months, I’ll get a head CT scan to make sure everything is right for the implant. It’s going to cost around $3,000 for the total procedure. That’s a lot, but the procedure is quite complicated.

Highly recommend Dr. Jeon. He’s super good.

I called later to make sure that they were going to contact my dental insurance. I also have a discount plan. Need to see which one will save me the most money.

I’ve been going to him over a decade. I still call him my “new” dentist. I’m so grateful for his good work.

Stopped by Walgreens on my way home to pick up antibiotics and pain meds.

Warm today!

Just keep going.

Downloaded the episode of Verbal Surgery that I recorded yesterday onto my Mac.

My jaw feels pretty good. I took a pill a little while ago. Hopefully, I’ll sleep well. I’m not supposed to drive while on the pain medication. Ashley will bring Everly over to my house tomorrow morning. I’m not sure if I’ll have to be on the pain meds or not.

Podcast! Plants! 5.15.22

Tim A. Cummins @ 6:51 pm

Español!

OYB!

Uploaded Verbal Surgery -942- “Phase Two Shoes.” So good. So comfortable.

Heavy weather, but most of it missed us.

Definitely warming up. Last week of school!

Recorded “Just the Root” this afternoon. Downloaded the edition from yesterday and today onto my Mac Air.

Watered my plants.

Harry!

Ordered groceries.

Podcast! Texas Trip! 5.14.22

Tim A. Cummins @ 9:30 pm

I love this.

Three years ago today, I was in Toronto hanging out with good friends!

Just keep going!

OYB!

Adelante!

Transported two squirrels today.

I haven’t used the Masterclass app very much. Decided to cancel it. I got it last year because I got a two for one on Father’s Day. I don’t think Miles used it much either. I did enjoy listening to Neil De Grasse Tyson today, however.

Went to Stone Mountain to record an episode of Verbal Surgery called “Flag Wavers.”

Harry!

I’ve seen this car before. The second sticker always bothers me.

My Mom and I have been working on figuring out a trip to Texas for me, Jessi and the Grandgirls. I got it all together this evening. Looking forward to seeing my people June 11-21! It’ll be a good trip to visit with supporters of our ministry as well!

Went to my sister in law’s house this afternoon to help clean up. It’s always a pretty gross job, but who else will go do it?

Grandgirls! Bank! Azalea! 5.13.22

Tim A. Cummins @ 10:21 pm

I had a chat with my buddy Anthony. He was telling me about his Dad’s house which was built in 1740! Wow. We got in a conversation about Oglethorpe who was a really big deal in Savannah, where I worked for years. I always liked this stature of him.

OYB!

My girls!

Cloudy day. Poured down rain this afternoon.

Palabras.

Processed and deposited checks. Then entered them onto our spreadsheet for donations.

Adelante!

My outside clock fell and broke the glass. I was shocked it was glass! Got all the pieces picked up. There is still about a third of the top part intact. I’m glad it still works.

Everly was playing with pill bugs and made a little playground for them. She’s so sweet.

Everly and I ate at Hot and Cold today. It was really good.

There was a car in the parking lot with this sticker.

I found a bike for Penelope today. The rims are kind of messed up but it still rides ok. Penelope really liked it.

I got her a 1st Grade workbook. She worked at least an hour on it today. I was astonished. They’re not doing much in school right now. Only one more school week left!

We kept seeing cool aircraft fly over while we were doing homework. Air show tomorrow at the airport near the mission.

Helped a couple of guys do some work on their study guide for math. It was pretty hard for them. I was glad I was there to help.

Penelope just kept on working! I wasn’t able to help her a lot because I was so focused on the other kids.

We enjoyed watching the airplanes go by.

Harry!

Went by my office to check the mail and my ficus.

Had a good chat with Ashley. Never too much time with her!

Grandgirls! Bike! Azalea! 5.12.22

Tim A. Cummins @ 8:56 pm

Preach.

OYB!

This morning Ash and Miles had a mix up with their keys. I came to Azalea to pick up Everly so Ashley could make it to work on time.

Everly watched me while I gassed up my car and checked the levels.

I’m always cleaning my car and throwing trash away.

Palabras.

Adelante!

Jessi went in to see the doctor today. While she was there, Everly and I found a Goodwill we’d never been to.

They had this cool “Sparkle” bike that had pink tires that she just loved. With the seat all the way down, she can ride it just fine.

She was super happy. I couldn’t find a good one for Penelope. Man, was she upset about it. Still, I bought P one a few months ago that fits her fine now so everyone should be happy. I want to have bikes at my house for both girls so we don’t have to drag them back and forth from the mission.

She rode it around the cul-de-sac near my house too.

Transported a squirrel to Azalea. I keep the trap covered so it keeps them calm.

Penelope cracks me up.

The last couple of weeks it seems like NO kids were outside. I reckon they were chilling watching something on the web. Yesterday, I had one of the kids knock on my door. He needed help getting ready for some end of year tests. I was glad to help.

I’m good at algebra. We worked on this stuff today. I’ve worked with him for years and years.

Went by my office to check the mail.

Had a good chat with my Mom on the way home. I want Jessi to come with me to Texas in June. I’m going to see supporters as well as family. I’ll be taking the grandgirls with me as well.

Watered my plants. The ones I’ve recently transplanted at least.

Filled up m water jugs and cleaned bird baths.
